Chapter 130: Overseas Release
Chapter 130: Overseas Release
In the United States.
Hmm? A new game, Warcraft? By which company?
A developer and distributor that Ive never heard of.
Isnt that a Chinese company?
Thats weird. Chinese RTS game? I thought the ones they made in the past were huge failures. Werent they wiped off the market by Legion Conquest?
The last few posters, you guys are too out of touch with the Chinese market. Warcraft is currently incredibly popular in China, its even exceeded Legion Conquest.
Really? Maybe its because it fits the taste of the Chinese more.
Ive seen some posters and videos. To be honest, Im really shocked. It seems really high quality unlike the other Chinese games Ive seen. Theres nothing I could nitpick from the dialogue. You guys should try it out.
The dialogue really is perfect. Im curious as to who did the translation. Did they pay big bucks to get a translator from the US?
This is the first time Ive seen the Chinese make a game similar to Heavenly Ring. Moreover, the quality seems amazing.
THe game is also free to play. I think Ill try it out when it comes out.
-Europe-
Ive heard theres a game thats similar to Heavenly Ring that is about to be released. Ive seen its ads everywhere.
Really? Ive never heard of an European company making that game, is it from the US?
No, its Chinese.
oh, then Im probably not going to play it. Its difficult to imagine what they would do to a story like this. Im also doubtful if they could make a world to match the standards of Heavenly Ring.
They seem alright from the promotional videos Ive seen. At least I never realised it was made by the Chinese.
Ive seen it too, the dialogue is excellent. Although the French and German dubs are a bit weird, the English version was fine, perfect even.
Really? Thats hard to believe.
Alright, youve convinced me, Ill take a look.
-Korea-
Youre still playing Legion Conquest?
Yeah, are you done with the game? Off to RPGs?
Nope, Ive been playing another RTS game.
What? Another RTS game?
Warcraft.
Never heard of it.
Yeah, because its not out on the Korean market yet. I downloaded it from a Chinese app store.
Chinese game? Im not sure if ditching Legion Conquest for that is a good idea.
This game is better than Legion Conquest in every single aspect. It wouldnt be a stretch to call it the best RTS game in the world.
Really?
I think theres a Korean version soon. Im looking forward to it.
Alright, Ill check it out then.
Advertisements of Warcraft have appeared in money countries. However, due to the limited budget, there was no way they could paste it on every wall, so the popularity of the game had to be slowly built up. The games that really pop off are usually shared by mouth anyways.
Finally after all the advertising, Warcraft is finally live!
Chen Mo couldnt do much for the international version as the small amount of fame he had was only in China. Nobody would recognise him or the Thunderbolt Entertainment Logo outside of China.
The success of the game depended entirely on the quality of it!
Warcraft was priced at twenty-nine USD, slightly cheaper than Legion Conquest. However, after exchange rates, the English version was sold at twice the price of the Chinese one.
Chen Mo didnt want to sell it cheaper to sell more copies as the consumers overseas were more willing to spend. Twenty nine USD wasnt much for a game like Warcraft. It was even considered to be value for money, therefore the price wouldnt affect the sales.
Moreover, the game also uses the same model of one free chapter before charging the players, which was why Chen Mo felt that the price was suitable.
If he could sell it higher, why not?
The players who had their eyes on the game previously downloaded the game upon release.
What shocked the Western players was that the game was exactly the same as advertised, extremely high quality. They were also completely drawn in by the cinematics!
The emotions these players felt were similar to the players in China. From curious, too surprised, to shock, and finally completely impressed.
Players who liked the theme and RTS game would more than likely buy the after the first chapter without any hesitation.
The screen was dark.
A deep voice filled with resonance started talking.
Betrayer?
In truth, it was I who was betrayed!
There was lightning followed by thunder. An unspeakable melody peaked the suspense. A winged and horned silhouette appeared on the screen signifying their identity.
Illidan.
In the dark sky, thick dark clouds rolled in the howling of the violent wind. The stormy waves on the sea kept tearing the coast and shaking the jagged rocks.
Im still being chased.
Im still hated.
Now, my blind eyes can see what no ordinary man can!
The camera turned around to the skies faraway, filled with thunder and darkness.
Sometimes, we must put our fate in our hands!
Thunder, waves, and there seems to be some terrible force recovering from the bottom of the sea.
The music became tense, the camera went hundred water revealing many surfacing Naga.
The lightning revealed their horrible looks.
A Naga with a trident walked towards the camera, and looked at the shouted looking at the camera as a lightning revealed its face.
Awaken all, set off a frenzy of destruction, and annihilate those enemies who dare to oppose us!
The cinematic ended, and yet the players have yet to come back to their senses.
This cinematic was amazing, even without the perfect art, voice acting, sound effects, shots, and story, the dialogue was more than enough to take the breath out of your lungs!
These didnt sound translated at all. Not only did they have perfect grammar, the tempo was also perfect, giving it an amazing feel.
In just three minutes, the image of Illidan was fully revealed. This kind of first-person narrative allowed the players to be fully immersed in the story.
They couldnt understand how a Chinese company could write such an authentic dialogue!
