Chapter 77: You call this Guts?
Chapter 77: You call this Guts?
Yang Ke’er made short work of the 1st zombie and immediately went for the remaining ones. She was usually docile and obedient, other than eating her snacks, she was very civilized.
Yuan Yi and Su Qian had been submissive towards Yang Ke’er because she had been the earliest to follow Zhang Xiao Qiang. She also happened to be Brother Long’s relative. Yet, they didn’t accept her in their hearts, and each felt their own service towards Zhang Xiao Qiang was better than Yang Ke’er’s.
Until they saw her rampage now. Their entire backs were filled with cold sweat.
Yes, her performance now could be said that it was a frenzy. It had always been her character, be it her games and her speed at clearing them, or killing the zombies in one or 2 moves. She was used to this sort of adrenaline rush and she would squeal with excitement from time to time. Not a single zombie ended up as a complete corpse.
“Wait~”...”Peng”....Zhang Xiao Qiang saw Yang Ke’er engrossed in her fun and had long forgotten his words. As the last zombie was about to be mutilated by her, his warning came too late.
Yang Ke’er saw that last zombie was not moving, and she licked her lips in satisfaction. She then threw her gaze towards the rest of the zombies near the construction site.
She raised her spear and was about to charge to vent her feelings, “Ha! This feels so much better than playing games!! I love this feeling!!”
“Pa!” A single palm came slapping her buttocks, and she yelped, jumping in the air.
“Do you have ears?!” Zhang Xiao Qiang began lecturing Yang Ke’er, as she lowered her head glumly, her feet drawing circles on the ground.
Yuan Yi saw Zhang Xiao Qiang scolding Yang Ke’er, who didn’t lose her temper, and her fear and respect towards Zhang Xiao Qiang grew. Even Yang Ke’er who was so fearsome was being so obedient now, he must truly be something else.
They decided to ignore the zombies near the construction site and proceeded to clear a few more near the building. Zhang Xiao Qiang got Yuan Yi to lead the way to the warehouse, while Yang Ke’er and Su Qian followed behind.
Yuan Yi led the way nervously, while Zhang Xiao Qiang stuck close behind her. He didn’t use his Beast Horn Spear, instead, he held the Jing Wei Sword, as it was easier to use in the narrow corridors.
“The warehouse is up ahead.” Yuan Yi spoke as she took a step forward. Just as she was about to turn the corner, Zhang Xiao Qiang immediately grabbed her collar and pulled her back. A pair of claws lunged out from behind the corner.
“Ah!!” Yuan Yi screamed in fright and immediately knelt on the ground. She hugged Zhang Xiao Qiang’s legs and did not dare to move. “Shit, I knew you aren’t reliable.” He scolded her and pushed her aside, before slashing outwards at the zombie that had just revealed its head.
Before the zombie fell, Zhang Xiao Qiang took a quick glance around the corner and noticed that zombies had filled up the corridor. There were too many to count. “Retreat back out!” Zhang Xiao Qiang slashed out again at the zombies in front of him. There were too many, and the place was too narrow. There was no space to maneuver.
All of a sudden, a short and skinny zombie shot out speedily from the horde, and a blackened claw reached out to slash him. Zhang Xiao Qiang used the Jing Wei Sword in his hands to slash upwards and separated its arm from the shoulder. The arm landed uselessly on the ground, while the S-Type continued its lunge without a care for its arm.
“Peng”....Zhang Xiao Qiang fired the Type 54 in his left hand. At the moment when he had chopped off its arm, he had stopped in place, aiming at its head to fire.
While he was handling the S-Type, the remaining ordinary zombies shuffled forwards. Seeing the numerous claws dancing in front of him, his scalp turned numb. He couldn’t move, as he knew he couldn’t possibly chop off all the claws at one go.
“Get down!” Yang Ke’er shouted from behind. Without time to think, he immediately got down on the floor, before doing a back roll.
A huge shadow flew above him. It turned out that Yang Ke’er had noticed something wrong, and wanted to step forward to help. However, as the corridor was too narrow, she had hastily grabbed a door, pulling it off its frame with some strength.
She then grabbed it like some sort of huge shield and charged forwards. ‘Kadong’ the huge steel door blocked the zombies, and she tilted the door upwards. She then proceeded to push with all her might, sending them back further down the corridor. They grabbed at the door incessantly, while the walls on either side had deep scratch marks. Yang Ke’er then lodged the door into the ground, sealing the corridor.
This time, the zombies were all sealed in, and their claws only grabbed outwards helplessly from the corners. Yuan Yi was still sitting on the ground, her pants a little wet. It seemed that she had peed herself out of fear, and was thanking her ancestors for barely escaping death.
Zhang Xiao Qiang got up from the ground, and walked to Yuan Yi’s side, looking at her. When Yuan Yi saw Zhang Xiao Qiang looking at her, she got up hastily, closing her legs in embarrassment. Her face started to flush but turned pale upon seeing his expression.
“You call this guts?” Zhang Xiao Qiang felt depressed and frustrated. He was truly speechless. She finally had some decent expression intending to hurt some zombies, in the end, she had peed herself. Even Yang Ke’er was not like that when she was surrounded by those things in the past.
He finally understood it was not that he should get her to kill the zombies, it was getting her to go up and accept being a ‘dish’ for the zombies to try.
“Let’s try this extreme method then?” As he thought up to this point, he grabbed her shoulder and pulled her towards the steel door. Yuan Yi saw the zombies in front and began to struggle to get out of his grasp, the sudden burst of strength almost tearing Zhang Xiao Qiang’s arms off.
“You think I can’t cure you of your fear?” He became more vicious and grabbed her with his left hand, and his right hand grabbing her hair. He pushed her towards the zombie claws until Yuan Yi saw that they were mere centimeters away from her nose. She began to scream in fright, and shook her head forcefully, trying to get out of his grasp. However, her hair was in his grip, and other than the pain in her scalp, she could not get out.
When she could smell the putrid rotting stench from the claws, she closed her eyes out of desperation.
“Open your eyes! Otherwise, I’ll throw you in!” Zhang Xiao Qiang threatened her coldly. Yuan Yi was afraid of being eaten by them, and immediately opened her eyes to look at the claws and the zombies behind the door.
The zombies were packed like sardines, and the claws were grabbing outwards continuously without stop. It was impossible to count how many there were. The metal door was squeaking due to the pressure, as though it was about to tear open, releasing the zombies.
Zhang Xiao Qiang suddenly felt Yuan Yi tremble uncontrollably, as a strong fecal scent came from Yuan Yi. He did not bother about it, as he had even managed to handle Yang Ke’er when her stench was even stronger back then.
