Chapter 336: Take out the Healer First
“Yap!”
Yabao's majestic form stood proudly amidst the flames.
“Yun!”
Luckbringer stopped the flow of energy, staring in stunned silence at the fiery figure before him. His eyes filled with tears in an instant.
A hero!
Zhang Rongtang, however, frowned impatiently as he observed the transformed Flame Hound, whose aura and demeanor were entirely different from before.
Blaze Trait. Is there no end to this nonsense?
“Stronghold Sky Owl, Dark-” Zhang Rongtang began to command Phantom Fiend’s wraith to attack, but before he could finish, a girl’s voice interrupted him:
“Wu Chang, give Luckbringer to me.”
Startled, Zhang Rongtang instinctively turned to the side and was shocked to find the girl who had just fallen was already standing up!This turn of events left him dumbfounded.
How did the hypnosis spell cast by Tablema wear off so quickly?!
Breaking out of hypnosis in such a short time was near impossible without either intense external interference or immense mental fortitude.
A school kid with strong mental fortitude? Highly unlikely!
---
A minute earlier.
Yabao was hurled into the base of a tree, while Little Treasure was still plummeting through the air. Luckbringer’s repeated cries sent invisible soundwaves rippling toward Qiao Sang, Yabao, and Little Treasure.
As the subtle vibrations in the air calmed, a two-headed black raven flapped its wings and coincidentally passed beneath the falling Little Treasure.
Thud!
Little Treasure landed squarely on the raven’s back.
“Squawk!”
The two-headed black raven shook its heads and glared at the pitch-black little troublemaker responsible for this indignity.
Still falling, Little Treasure was oblivious.
“Squawk, squawk!”
A Dark-type beast with a vengeful streak, the raven flapped its wings and accelerated toward Little Treasure. With a swift kick to Little Treasue’s face, the raven exacted its revenge before flying away, satisfied.
This kick altered Little Treasure’s trajectory, sending him straight into Qiao Sang’s face.
Thunk!
Qiao Sang woke up in pain.
---
Wu Chang snapped out of his daze, staring blankly at Qiao Sang. He hadn’t expected her to get back up and still prioritize protecting Luckbringer.
“Hurry up!” Qiao Sang urged again, irritated by Wu Chang’s inaction.
“Yun Yun!” Luckbringer patted the device with its paw, urging Wu Chang to move faster.
Though kindhearted, Wu Chang was far too weak. Staying close to a heroic beastmaster like Qiao Sang felt much safer.
Realizing this, Wu Chang silently handed over the device containing Luckbringer.
If there’s anyone left worth trusting in this world, it’s her, he thought.
Qiao Sang swiftly took the device and shouted, “Yabao!”
“Yap!”
Yabao blinked into existence beside his beastmaster.
Qiao Sang nimbly climbed onto Yabao’s back. Almost as if anticipating her move, Yabao extinguished is flames the moment before she mounted.
“Let’s go!” Qiao Sang commanded.
“Yap!”
Yabao dashed skyward.
Wu Chang: ???
“After them!” Zhang Rongtang barked, his expression dark as he mounted Phamton Fiend.
Wu Chang stared dumbly at the two figures in pursuit above. Just as confusion gripped him, a voice rang out from the sky:
“Stop spacing out! Call the police!”
Call the police?
Yes! The police!
Suddenly understanding, Wu Chang scrambled to take out his phone, dialing while running toward an area with better reception.
---
Yabao, empowered by his Blaze trait, initially outpaced Phantom Fiend. However, the energy gap between a mid-tier and a general-tier beast was astronomical. Despite Blaze's boost, Phantom Fiend’s speed soon surpassed Yabao’s. R
Realizing they were about to be caught, Qiao Sang glanced down and said, “Let’s stop here.”
Without hesitation, Yabao descended.
The barren clearing offered no cover. Qiao Sang dismounted and stood her ground. She knew she couldn’t escape indefinitely; her best chance was to buy some time.
The moment Qiao Sang landed, Zhang Rongtang arrived as well.
“Do you think sending Wu Chang to call the police will stop me?” Zhang Rongtang sneered as he dismounted, his face dark.
The police? By the time they arrive, it’ll all be over.
The night was eerily quiet, the cold wind carrying a desolate chill.
“I never thought it would stop you.” Qiao Sang replied calmly, her voice breaking the silence as the moonlight pierced through the clouds.
“I just thought fighting in that graveyard would draw too much attention.”
Graveyard vandalism could result in 5-10 days of detention, or up to 15 days in severe cases. How would she ever compete in her tournament if she got caught for that?
Zhang Rongtang hesitated, remembering they had just been in a graveyard. His expression shifted. He hadn’t expected such meticulousness from the girl.
What a pity she was so meddlesome. Otherwise, they might have even gotten along.
As Zhang Rongtang mused, Qiao Sang formed seals with her hands, and a green star array glowed brightly in the darkness.
“Lu.”
Lubao emerged from the array.
Zhang Rongtang froze, his expression faltering.
A green star array?!
Three beasts?!
A high school student?!
This province has such a prodigy?!
“Lubao, heal Little Treasure first.” Qiao Sang instructed, placing the still-unconscious Little Treasure on the ground.
“Lu.”
Sensing the tense atmosphere, Lubao nodded solemnly. The jewel on her forehead emitted a calming blue light.
Although Zhang Rongtang couldn’t identify the beast, he knew it was using a healing skill.
Flame Hound and the Treasure-Seeking Demon posed no threat, but this healer would be trouble.
Taking out the healer first was a timeless strategy.
“Let’s finish this.” Zhang Rongtang growled, summoning Tablema and Phantom Fiend back into the fray.
“Tab.”
Tablema’s eyes glowed blue, and a one-meter-long blade of shimmering energy condensed in an instant.
Illusion Slash, a high-level single-target Psychic attack with devastating power.
“.”
Simultaneously, Phantom Fiend’s wraith extended its claws, flicking each stubby digit. Several eerie, purple-glowing spheres, barely the size of bullet casings, floated before its claws.
Doom Shadows, a high-level Ghost attack, was nearly impossible to dodge due to its blinding speed and immense penetrative power.
