Chapter 302: Naval Joint Practice (2)
Chapter 302: Naval Joint Practice (2)
"A meeting between Naval Forces? What's the catch in this?" Zhang Qin Feng smiled. And because he openly speaks about this while at the dinner, there is no doubt that it was heard by everyone seated at the same table.
Zhang Qin Feng stood up and hinted that he would continue this conversation privately.
Leaving the table and walking closer to the balcony, Zhang Qin Feng patiently listened to what Jason Deng says about this.
"From my point of view, I think this meeting is to initiates a naval practice between us. Doing things in such a fancy way wasn't their first, but I can't be sure that there's nothing wrong in here."
"After all, we just thwarted their drug dealing business and kept too many Horusian people captive. From what I think, the Pacific Union is somewhat pissed off at us but hates to shoulder this responsibility on their own."
"They might be borrowing the power from the crowd to force us to comply and be lenient at their union's people," said Jason Deng. He's somewhat confident about his opinion due to his resourcefulness.
"What are the pros and cons we could get from this meeting?" Zhang Qin Feng asked.
"Likely fame, sharing of technology, experience, etc. But the thing would change if these people suggested having a live drill after the meeting. It usually happens when one of the four powers has something cool they want to show off." Jason Deng immediately replied.
"Hmm… What do you recommend? I'm okay with joining or not joining. It's not like they can get anything from us, and we can get anything from them." Zhang Qin Feng asked. His words might be overconfident, but he does have the power to back them up.
Even if he allowed their researcher to come into his ship, they would find it challenging to dissect the DECIMATOR X20 Launcher and the build for the Turret-type CIWS. And even if they did, can they recreate the same thing?
He could give them the blueprint, and they'll be still taking more than ten years to recreate the material needed.
"I would suggest that we don't join. I don't want us to be labeled a duck between a flock of geese and get teased for not sharing things. Harassment like this is always spoiling the mood of our sailors working hard to protect our country." Jason Deng said.
"Also…" after he was done with the previous sentence, Jason Deng continued. It seems like he still has something in his mind.
"What's wrong? Still have something to say?" Zhang Qin Feng asked. Although the time between him and Jason Deng was short, he has a rough idea about him. This president might have been corrupt before this, but he wasn't as terrible as he looks. Most of his corruption was done to keep the outside power from annexing Marianna by monopolized everything.
"I can't help but had a feeling where something was going on here. Recently, because our naval activities have increased, we had a demand for Heavy Fuel Oil. But it seems that there's a bulk purchase almost everywhere around us."
"Even our leading seller, Han Country and the Continent of Southern States started to restrict the sales of all Fossil Gas related products."
"Do you think… We should start restocking a little? It felt like the people were trying to make us spend certain resources so they can take advantage of us." Jason Deng said.
While he was speaking out when he had in mind, Zhang Qin Feng went into the web privately to verify if his worries were relevant.
And to Zhang Qin Feng's surprise, it seems that the recent trend was attacking the issue with fossil fuel hardly. But if he were to base them with the information spread on the web, the reserve would still be enough to support the world's consumption for a few years even if the drill stopped pumping for crude oil.
This suspicion made Zhang Qin Feng caught a hint of conspiracy behind this. With the recent news update about the crude oil producer's meeting in the Pacific Union, everything started to click with one another.
"Go along with the trend and keep as much in stock as you could. But don't go overboard. You should know that we're starting to tap into clean energy right now, and those fuels would be nothing but a burden later on. Just keep what we need until the technology arrives at our doorstep." Zhang Qin Feng said.
He can just tell Jason Deng that the Atom Battery Module has been successfully researched and was in application. Still, out of privacy and trade secret, he decided to keep it hidden until it was time to announce this to the public.
Furthermore, suppose Jason Deng was attentive enough. In that case, the five Assailant-Class Patrol Ships were all running using Heavy-Duty Atom Battery as its generator. The only part the Heavy Fuel Oil was used on was on the ship's regular facilities, such as cooling system, lighting, electronics, and so on.
After concluding that they won't be joining the naval meeting, Zhang Qin Feng decided to hang up the call and continue with the dinner. The meal went on without a hitch. At night, the couple was given access to the Grand Season Hotel's presidential suite.
Zhang Qin Feng took his time to savor his "boning" session with Jun Minji. On the following day, he called his acquaintance to get in touch with one of his benefactors.
It took the phone a while before it was answered.
"Who is this, and why do you have my contact?" the one answering the call asked.
"Brother Han-Sung. It's Feng." Zhang Qin Feng knew he had to introduce himself again because this was an entirely new number.
"Zhang Qin Feng?" Han-Sung was surprised that the caller was him, and it was usual for him to be shocked since Zhang Qin Feng was pronounced dead about half a year ago.
"Did some high-level necromancer from some fiction novel resurrect you? You sure you don't have any brain-eating habit grown on you?" Han-Sung jokes. He knew about it roughly from Liu Qiang's conversation with Wang Yufei, but this was the first time he talked to Zhang Qin Feng after so long.
"I'd like to keep joking with you, but can you tell uncle Liu that I want to meet him? As soon as possible, if it could be done."
