Lovis dodged Mitsuru's attack with space-time magic.

Lovis brandished his scythe the moment he used teleportation, he was aiming at Mitsuru's nape from behind.

「GUH!」

Mitsuru blocked the attack while turning around, he didn't even have the leeway to unleash a counterattack.

Lovis backpedalled behind to dodge Mitsuru's full swing.

Mitsuru smacked his lips as he spoke.

「Dammit… My speed parameter should be higher. And yet, why did I still fail to hit him?」

Lovis tried to counter with his scythe alas, even the blade of the scythe got deflected by the overwhelming speed.

The blade of the great sword nailed into Lovis' right shoulder.

「Huff, you might dodged in the last second but… That attack just crushed your shoulder, this is the end. To be able to survive from my speed mode by sacrificing your left shoulder…」

「AHAHAHAHAHA… THIS IS THE PAIN THAT I'M LOOKING FOR! THIS TENSION MAKE ME FEEL THAT I'M GOING TO DIE IN THE NEXT MOMENT… AND THE UPLIFT EMOTION THAT SURPASS ALL OF THOSE! THIS IS THE FEELING THAT I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR!」

Lovis forcefully removed Mitsuru's great sword that lodged into his right shoulder.

Mitsuru whose strength greatly weakened due to the effect of 《Double》 was currently weaker than Lovis in terms of pure strength and couldn't resist the latter.

Mitsuru protected his right side with his great sword.

His defence was much weaker when he activated his speed mode.

A misstep and he would be lost one of his legs.

 

「HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, WONDERFUL… YOU REALLY ARE MASTERPIECE, MITSURU! FACING HIGHER-LEVEL OPPONENT ONLY MAKES ME ALL FIRED UP!」

Lovis adjusted his stance in no time and rushed immediately.

Mitsuru didn't even have the room to adjust the state of his mind.

Thus he grits his teeth, takes a stance and charges forward.

「YOU'RE NO MATCH FOR MY GREATEST SPEED!」

Mitsuru closing in at once toward the fast approaching Lovis, unleashed a thrust with his great sword while dodging to the side.

Lovis brilliantly dodged the lightning-fast thrust at the very last moment.

「Y-You… Must be kidding me? My speed should be many times faster…」

「I just need to watch your movement properly… To react in time, that's why I purposely took the first attack. That kind of small injury is a cheap price to pay.」

Lovis brandished his scythe toward Mitsuru.

Mitsuru managed to block the slash in the last second but, by then Lovis had already nailed a kick into Mitsuru's abdomen.

Mitsuru's body was blown lightly and rolled on the ground.

「Cough, cough, cough! T-This, can't be… My… 《Double》…!」

Mitsuru stood up in a hurry, glaring at Lovis.

「That was fun but… That's all you got eh? This is the difference between pure skill and the time we brush with death. All you did was brandish your power. Your technique is just a self-taught technique that utilises the status that is boosted by 《Double》, not a proper combat technique. You never got the chance to hone your real combat skill since you always finish the fight with a brute force approach thanks to your gift skill. The fact that you carefreely switched your physical parameters is the most obvious proof that you have been neglecting the subtleties of movement or feint. Speed Mode, isn't it? I already knew that you had no full control over that mode when I took the stab in my shoulder. All I need is to shift my body a bit to dodge your attack.」

Mitsuru bit his lips upon hearing that.

「Mitsuru Ijyuin… I thought you could do better than this but, I guess the only pure human who can fight on par with me is just the 《Guardian of The Kingdom, Orcus》.」

「Who says that I'm already showing all my cards? The likes of you… I won't understand my power.」

Mitsuru used his great sword to prop his body up and pointed it toward Lovis.

「You're strong and skilled…」

「My weakness is that my attack becomes too monotonous once I lose my cool. The old lizard from Peach Dragon has also told me about that. It pains me to accept the fact that even a genius like me needs proper combat training and combat experience. My speed can't beat you, I give you that. No, you're just that strong, I guess I've to give it my all too.」

This time, Mitsuru took a middle stance.

「Though my level is higher than yours, there's no need to attack aggressively. 《Double》… Defence Mode.」

「So sloppy. You decided to abandon your speed before me…」

Mitsuru lowered his stance even further.

「That stance… Isn't self-taught eh?」

「The only that changed isn't just my stats, my combat has changed too. That old man from Peach Dragon Village rearranged the martial arts for dragonfolk into sword skills for me. Starting from now, you won't be able to land a clean hit on me.」

「You… Are the best. I'm even more fired up now.」
