Chapter 3624 Peak Fear
Chapter 3624 Peak Fear
"…"
The people below weren't really able to get a look at what exactly happened on the ninth step as Dewzai's silky robe hid sight from behind, and the bird's eye view of the projection didn't really show anything close.
It was hard to figure out what had happened from bird's eye view when Dewzai's body hid her embarrassing deed.
This made it so that only those who were on the eighth step were barely able to figure out that she had peed. It was only for two seconds before she evaporated them in an instant. If they hadn't seen her movements, then they wouldn't have been able to see it.
Nonetheless, the person herself felt like killing herself for peeing in front of the entire world.
The Emperor-Tier Blood inside her refused to endure such an embarrassment, causing her lifeless eyes to turn bloodshot as she looked around.
But for some reason, the other inheritors all looked away from her, their side faces all solemn as though they were enduring something heavy. They even had their hips bent as though trying to control something.
'Could it be that no one saw me do it…?'
She thought, feeling hopeful as she stood up. Fortunately, the heat of her powers allowed her robe to look like it wasn't wet, so she smiled like a fool before obediently going sideways, deciding that the eighth step was her limit.
"Don't worry. We won't leak your secret."
"We'll protect it."
"You'll have to be careful of the men, though."
"I'll keep it a secret for a good price."
As she walked past the four ladies who were in the spotlight for some time, her expression froze. Her body severely trembled as she turned to look at Evelynn, Isabella, Shirley and Fairy Thunderblaze, her gaze falling on the last one who said that she would keep it a secret for a price.
Dewzai's movements were like a puppet. She turned her head again and walked away to the left wing without saying a word. As soon as she reached the left wing, the sense of danger she faced left her soul but the embarrassing moments of her life corrupted her soul.
'Ah, I better kill myself…'
She thought before walking up the platform with a dreary expression on her face.
Before long, she was gone as well.
Evelynn and the others didn't know what the deal was with her as they felt killing intent from her. Perhaps she was planning to kill them to hide her embarrassing moment, or it was just some frustration.
Either way, they weren't worried and carried on.
"Are you two ready?" Evelynn asked again.
Yet, her words lacked confidence, while Isabella and Shirley looked at her with difficult expressions.
Do they really need to do this?
"The ninth step doesn't seem worth it."
At this moment, Fairy Thunderblaze took a step back from the ninth step. She turned to the left, appearing to leave towards the left wing, sounding like she intended to give up.
"Are you scared?" Evelynn's lips curled.
Fairy Thunderblaze stopped and turned to look back.
"No, I care about my dignity more than a difference of one point. Even if that one point made the difference between heaven and earth, there's no point in having it if I can't raise my head up."
"…"
Evelynn had no retort to her words. However, Fairy Thunderblaze glanced further and gazed at Shirley.
"You look like you're going to embarrass yourself sooner or later."
"You-"
"But do you dare to bring dishonor to him, to your family?"
Shirley's cheeks reddened, but when Fairy Thunderblaze asked if she would embarrass him, her heart pounded. Previously, she had been easygoing, but after advancing to the eighth step, she no longer thought this would be easy.
Fairy Thunderblaze didn't say anything more. She only revealed a smug smile underneath her veil before she turned around and left. She made it to the platform and, without turning around, passed through the spatial vortex.
Her name was updated to the ranking.

"Zenova… Artoria…"
Evelynn uttered Fairy Thunderblaze's name as though etching it into her mind.
She was one of her targets to defeat no matter what. For one, she had disrespected her husband too much, and for the other, she needed to know her place. Even with her current prowess, Davis could take her down easily, yet her arrogance seemed never-ending, and she did not know what kind of ledge she was dancing on.
"What a good name…" Isabella uttered with a smile, "It would be a good addition to our family."
Shirley rolled her eyes, "Not until I beat her up. Come, let's step to the ninth step and shut her up."
She tried to exchange all that fear with rage, making her determination become more than renewed. She was rearing to go.
At this moment, Isabella and Shirley let go of Evelynn's hand at the same time. Their legs were thrown to the ninth step as they leaped.
A surge of adrenaline rushed through their veins as they saw numerous visions rush past them. It was as though time froze at that moment- no, it moved slowly, yet what they saw moved quite fast, allowing them to live through countless moments of fear.
It made their hearts experience despair, and their soul frightened out of their wits.
The sense of fear induced in them had reached its peak.
Evelynn also experienced the same thing as she leaped after them.
Everything threatening, frightening and even disgusting flashed past her vision. In one instance, she was even pinned down and about to be violated in front of her beloved. Yet, she could do nothing other than scream.
An intense sense of disgust welled up within her. She felt like puking, peeing, and losing control of every function. It was possible that she could even go crazy. Yet, she also maintained a semblance of sanity that knew everything she was experiencing right now was fake.
That light was suppressed underneath a world of darkness.
"Break!"
Evelynn yelled out, her voice cracking under the influence of the steps.
However, she couldn't break it with her power alone, and neither could willpower prove to be of any use here. The primal instinct of fear of overwhelmed her, trying to push her away.
She felt like she couldn't move forward anymore, finally knowing why Dewzai pissed herself, and Fairy Thunderblaze decided it wasn't worth it.
But more than anything, she remembered he was still watching her. He had her back. He always had her back. Even when she thought things were falling apart, he always returned to be at her side.
These abrupt thoughts gave her a sudden sense of security as well as courage that allowed sanity to return to her wretched face overwhelmed by fear and contorted by rage.
Standing on the ninth step, her mouth and eyes bled, and so did her third eye. At the same time, a wave of relief washed over her soul as she was instantly teleported to the platform, the calamitous sense of danger leaving her body.
Her heart was still racing, but her mind became one of clear focus, causing her to look behind.
She saw Isabella and Shirley having fainted beside her, seeming to have puked blood essence.
"…"
She couldn't tell if they fainted at the eighth step or ninth step.
However, when she turned to look at the Immortal Dreams Palace, she couldn't help but bite her lips as she looked at the Rankings.

"...!"
Evelynn was moved beyond compare over their collective victory before she turned to look at Davis, who raised his hand and made a fist bump towards her. She smiled brightly, reacting with the same movement as she bumped his fist from the platform.
Her victorious figure caused countless jaws to drop.
Who the fuck was this no-name!?
Only then did the majority of people actually start to know she was the Divine Emperor of Death's first wife, Evelynn Cauldon, the only remaining inheritor of the Three-Eyed Chromatic Hex Arachnid Clan who was subjected to genocide by the collective Will of the First Haven World.
