Chapter 45 Intimidation
Hugo was seriously wounded and he was only alive thanks to the potion he drank and his strong body, but he was not going to run away as he had already revealed his main trump card which would be the end for Zayne.
"This power of Chaos...?" Zayne muttered in disbelief looking at Hugo's left eye. There was no way he could have expected something like this since Zayne didn't even know it was possible.
"Hah, you seem to know more about this world than the other Travelers, so much the better." Hugo smirked as he pointed to his eye, "I got it during the most dangerous fight of my life."
"I don't understand..." Zayne uttered with a confused look, "Shouldn't Chaos be plaguing you? How is it that your eye now looks so...?"
"A dead man doesn't need to know that." Hugo grinned as he pointed the dagger at Zayne, "Since you know about Chaos, you must have heard about Fate, I can only say that, unlike Fate which only gives hope that something can be changed, Chaos gives real power!!!"
Hugo's voice was like thunder rolling through the room, giving Zayne the creeps.
"Since you forced me to do this, I'll show you what this eye is capable of!" Hugo exclaimed as his pupil narrowed.
At the same moment, the red aura began to turn into silhouettes of fierce hounds beside Hugo. They looked as if they had come from hell and were ready to tear Zayne apart in a heartbeat.
Zayne immediately prepared for battle until something struck him, 'Wait... They're not real? Are they just illusions? Then what is he going to do?'
"'Looks like you figured out that these hounds can't bite you, hah, they're actually illusions, but don't worry, they're capable of creepier things than you can even imagine!" Hugo grimaced as he waved his hand, " Go on! Show him the true terror!"
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
Space trembled as the hound gazes went to Zayne, while the silhouette of a massive amber eye with a vertical pupil appeared above Hugo. Zayne felt as if he were gradually becoming smaller in the face of a huge, mysterious beast whose single sight could kill him.
'Good, as I supposed he's so terrified that he can't move. Maybe he's a natural-born fighter, but he's too young.' Hugo said inwardly as a wide grin appeared on his face, 'This encounter with the power of Chaos, will be his first and last!'
"HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!" Suddenly Zayne started laughing so hard that tears came out of his eyes.
pαndα,noνɐ1,сoМ "What the hell...?" Hugo muttered in disbelief.
"You should have seen your face! Did you really think this pathetic show could scare me?! Hahaha, is it actually comical or rather ironic?" Zayne said with a devious smirk.
"But... why aren't you scared? You didn't even flinch, but how? It can't be!" Hugo muttered with a tremble as a chill ran down his back.
Zayne stared at him with an ice-cold gaze and spoke, "I've met Chaos before, so it wasn't the first time for me. More importantly, I was the one who killed the main monster at Chaos Heart, where you sent those three to murder the soldiers."
"What...? You're just a kid! How the fuck is that possible?! There was a Terror Grade monster! Not even a knight commander could do that!" Hugo exclaimed in a furious, refusing to believe it was true.
"Well, you can think what you want, but it's obvious to both of us that I'm not lying. There's no way your pathetic imitation of Chaos can instill true terror in me, I hope you understand that." Zayne said, exhaling cold steam and stepping forward, "These illusionary dogs look more like beaten puppies than dangerous beasts, so let me show you what real fear should look like, which I myself have experienced!"
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
Zayne used his remaining mana as a silhouette of scarlet wings appeared behind him, two red lights came up among the spiky vines, but only Hugo could see them.
'No way... Where did this guy get such an aura...?' Hugo inwardly muttered with a frightened expression as he stared at the silhouette of the wolf's head above Zayne. The beast's crimson eyes made him tremble with fear, sinking him deeper and deeper into an abyss from which no one could escape.
'Hmm? Didn't he get too scared...? Well, it's time to end it.' Zayne said to himself, not knowing what the real reason for Hugo's reaction was before he flapped his wings.
Whooooooooooooooosh.
The wings split into fibers, leaving a red plume behind Zayne as his sword carried at tremendous speed toward Hugo's neck easily passing through it. Hugo's head with his wide-open eyes flew to the side, falling behind, while drops of blood covered Zayne's face.
[You defeated the leader of the Black Wing - Hugo, Free Whistle!]
[You gained 100 EXP!]
[You have completed the quest - Dark Rift! The reward is right in front of you!]
[You killed the one who used Chaos Force to bring destruction to the world! This feat did not go unnoticed! Fate has once again set its eyes on you since you have done something significant!]
[You have received one Fate Coin!]
[Your Fate Force is increased by 1 point!]
"Well, well, lots of rewards again. I'm starting to get used to it." Zayne uttered with a calm look as suddenly a red veil appeared in front of him.
[You have killed several people that gradually increased your murderous intent! The last opponent who fell by your hand was strong enough to make you finally reach the point!]
[New Skill gained!]
[Blood Aura (Passive)
You are cruel enough that you are willing to kill not only beasts but other people as well, on purpose. Now you'll get experience from killing people as well.
The chance that something could stun you or make you lose concentration is greatly reduced!]
"I see... Now I understand why I didn't get anything for those bandits, but it all fell into place." Zayne muttered, nodded, and leaned over to Hugo, "You won't need that anymore." Zayne took the dagger with the wavy blade and the ring.
[Black Wing Ring (Spatial Type)
A ring with a small spatial stone that allows you to store various items inside. Capacity - 5 cubic meters]
'Just as I thought, my inventory should get a lot bigger now, right? Well, I'll have to check how it works.' Zayne smirked as he put the ring on going to open his inventory.
Step. Step. Step.
Suddenly there was the sound of footsteps as several bandits ran towards the vault, then more appeared as very soon their number exceeded twenty.
Zayne was stunned since he didn't expect that the other bandits would spot him at all, so what was he supposed to do? How could he survive in a situation where it was impossible to win or escape?
'Well... Looks like I'm going to die after all, I'm exhausted and I literally have nothing... I might have one crazy idea though.' Zayne inwardly said looking at the bandits who were running at him with fury in their eyes at the sight of Hugo's corpse.
