Chapter 40
C40 – I Have to Improve My Cultivation!
At the entrance of Darkness Forest, several towering cultivators stood over the body of Mo Yangning, their eyes filled with icy murderous intent. They were acutely aware that if anything had befallen Mo Yangning and they failed to capture the perpetrator, their own lives would be forfeit.
The lead Mo family member, fists clenched in fury, exclaimed, “Damn it! Only one person in Black Rock City would dare to kill Young Master Beiming, and that’s that worthless fool.”
Another disciple, striking the tree beside him, added, “He had the audacity to kill Young Master Beiming! Such insolence!” With Mo Yangning dead, they were certain to face severe reprimands.
All three were clad in the Mo family’s signature green attire: Mo Xiu, Mo Hun, and Lin Tian. As disciples of the Third Elder, they were skilled cultivators, each at Energy Condensation Level 8.
Mo Xiu, clearly the trio’s leader with his superior skills nearing Energy Condensation Level 9, instructed, “Mo Hun, Lin Tian, each of you take a side of the Darkness Forest. I’ll head to the center. If anyone locates him, crush the Sound Transmission Jade, and the others must converge on that location immediately. We have to apprehend him swiftly and give him the thrashing he deserves.”
“Understood,” Mo Hun and Lin Tian responded, their eyes glinting with a faint murderous light.
The death of Mo Yangning meant certain punishment awaited them upon their return, all because of a lowly disciple at Energy Condensation Level 3.
After Lin Tian and Mo Hun departed, Mo Xiu gazed into the distance, his fists tightening. “If I’m the first to find him, I’ll break his limbs and shatter his meridians,” he vowed, his anger palpable.
How could a mere nobody dare to kill Young Master Beiming?
Meanwhile, Mo Changyou was blissfully ignorant of the unfolding drama, as he was engrossed in hunting for the Evil Flood Dragon’s hoard. The creature had slain numerous Ferocious Beasts at the Spirit Fusion Stage, leaving behind a trove of treasures. Among them, he found armor crafted from Heavenly Spirit Stone, designed to bolster a cultivator’s defenses by drawing in Spirit Energy, along with various other treasures, a wealth of spirit stones, and an abundance of Spirit Fruits.
Mo Changyou was somewhat taken aback to discover the Arrival Symbol Spell.
The Nine-word Secret and the Eight Categories Divination were the two invincible techniques of ancient times.
It was believed that the Eight Categories Divination had been lost to history, while the Nine-word Secret still remained.
Rumor had it that acquiring the Arrival Symbol Spell would grant a martial artist the Indestructible Vajra Body.
However, the Evil Flood Dragon had only managed to acquire half of the Arrival Symbol Spell.
“No wonder the Evil Flood Dragon was ultimately overpowered by the Azure Dragon; it had only mastered half of the Heavenly Monarch Fist and half of the Arrival Symbol Spell,” Mo Changyou mused as he examined the parchment map inscribed with the Arrival Symbol Spell.
Originating from Fallen Ridge, the Evil Flood Dragon lived in an era devoid of Monarchs. Despite its arrogance, no one dared to challenge the Forbidden Zone. Yet, the might of the Arrival Symbol Spell and the Heavenly Monarch Fist meant that no one in Fallen Ridge could safeguard the Evil Flood Dragon.
Even a Monarch from the Emperors’ Era, upon obtaining the Arrival Symbol Spell and the Heavenly Monarch Fist, would struggle to keep himself safe from other power-seekers.
Mo Changyou nodded in satisfaction. As for the rest, he discarded them as if they were mere rubbish.
“Millennium Spirit Bead? Trash.”
“Spiritual Marrow of three millennia? Trash.”
“Inscription Level Heavenly Spirit Pill? Such a shame it’s lost its spirit energy. Trash.”
Tang Nuolan was utterly perplexed by Mo Changyou’s behavior. As the daughter of a prestigious family, she was expected to be discerning.
Yet Mo Changyou was even more selective. To him, even the Millennium Spirit Bead, an item that could be coveted by a Sovereign, was deemed worthless.
Tang Nuolan’s eyes widened in disbelief. He was merely an Energy Condensation Level 5 martial artist. Others at his level would be ecstatic to find such treasures, but he was unimpressed.
If the Evil Flood Dragon were alive and aware that Mo Changyou disdained the treasures it had so painstakingly amassed, it would likely die of rage.
“It looks like the Evil Flood Dragon was quite impoverished. I need to take the Spirit Cleansing Pill and attempt a breakthrough. Please guard me,” Mo Changyou requested of Tang Nuolan.
“Trash? What a waste!” Tang Nuolan thought to herself, dismayed. Among the items Mo Changyou had discarded were some that even her father had eyed with desire.
Nevertheless, she gave a reluctant nod of approval.
Mo Changyou settled himself on the ground, in no rush to advance. With a stable foundation in his cultivation, he was confident that the “Man” Symbol Spell would ensure a smooth breakthrough. He began to channel the spell within, stirring his cultivation into action, and his Spirit Energy gradually swelled. After ingesting a Spirit Cleansing Pill, his body brimmed with Spirit Energy.
In an instant, the potent effects of the pill transformed into Spirit Energy, coursing through Mo Changyou’s limbs and bones. Thankfully, his body contained a robust reserve of liquid Spirit Energy, which he now drew upon voraciously. The influx of energy pressed insistently against his already saturated Dantian.
It seemed as though he was on the cusp of advancing to Energy Condensation Level 6.
Accompanied by a resonant burst within him, Mo Changyou’s Spirit Energy swelled tumultuously, like a surging ocean tide.
