Chapter 11: Shadow.
Chapter 11: Shadow.
Shadow noticed the stuff held in his hands. One of which was the identity card that proved Whittaker innocence. His hand that held the dagger around Whittaker's neck loosened up. He moved the hand that held the dagger up to Whittaker's neck away. Then he put the dagger back into the weapon soul space and took the identity card placed upon the uniform held within Whittaker's hand for inspection.
After a while, he coughed in embarrassment as he realized that he fucked up and all of this was a massive misunderstanding. He had inspected the identity card and knew that the boy he just threatened was a student!
"Cough I am sorry!" Saying that he moved back to give the Snowy-haired boy some space.
Whittaker regained freedom and turned around to glared at the boy in anger and wonderment. The boy had black hair and eyes as deep as an abyss, with red-lips and a sharp face, he looked extremely refined and graceful and his features threatened his position as the second most handsome man he had ever seen!
Under his glare, the young assassin blushed harder in shame. He didn't want to live under the same roof as a person who hates him. That's why he wanted to immediately mend the relation between them.
Half bowing to Whittaker, he said in an apologetic voice, "I am so sorry! I mistook you as an invader. That's why I did what I did. I hope you won't feel bad and come to hate me."
While bowing to him, he extended his hand that held Whittaker identity card towards him.
Whittaker took back the identity card. He scratched the side of his neck in confusion. One moment this black-haired boy was threatening him, the next moment he is apologizing. He was unable to understand the thoughts of the boy in front of him.
Whittaker was tired and he didn't have the heart to trouble another person, so he forgave him, "Okay, it's fine, I forgive you, you can stand up."
Hearing the reply, Shadow stopped bowing and straightened his back.
Whittaker asked, "Well then, can you tell me now, who you are?"
Shadow answered back, "I am Shadow, your roommate!"
Saying that he extended his right hand towards Whittaker.
Whittaker's eyes widened in realization. This weird guy was his roommate. The roommate with whom he will spend a lot of time!
Whittaker gave a smile but withheld from shaking hands with this weird person yet, Shadow was adamant about this. He believed that after a handshake, all negative feelings will go away!
His hand remained in that position, under his adamant gaze, Whittaker was forced to shake hands. Courtesy followed and he said, "Nice to meet you, I am your roommate, Whittaker!"
Shadow beamed a smile at him, "Nice to meet you too. I saw that you were examining the Light Orb and probably don't know how to use it. I can tell you about it if you want to know."
Whittaker was certainly interested in this matter, so he nodded.
Shadow explained everything about the Light Orb to Whittaker.
"Oh, so by putting mana into the inscriptions of the Light Orb the light of the orb will increase in intensity, and if you pull out the mana from the Light Orb the intensity of the light produced from the orb will decrease!" Whittaker exclaimed as he surmised the way this light orb way
Shadow was impressed as Whittaker understood everything he said.
"Yes, that's the way this thing works and a lot of mana-related technology follows the same rules. They are activated through the use of mana and deactivated after mana is used up or pulled out of them. Anyways, Light Orb is a widespread household object that every mage uses. Its primary features are to brighten up rooms, just like the lamps commoner use." Shadow asserted what Whittaker understood.
Shadow put some mana into the lamp and the entire room was brightened up by a yellow light.
"Wow!" Whittaker was amazed.
The room was bigger than what he had expected. Two beds and two closets were placed on the left and right covers of the room.
The youngster continued to talk about different topics. Thanks to this the unease atmosphere between them has eased up and they became friendly.
"I saw that you are a mage from your identity card. Mage classes begin early 7 in the morning. It's already 12:45, so, you should set up your things and go to sleep, or else you will be late tomorrow. I am using the left bed and closet so you will have to take the right one." Shadow reminded Whittaker.
He remembered that his class will begin early in the morning so he decided to go to sleep.
"Sure," Whittaker nodded. He started to store his uniform, the Academy map, identity card, and all the stuff into the closet.
While Shadow sat on the chair placed next to the table. He started to intently study the books placed on the table.
Whittaker was done with setting things up, he jumped onto his new bed and sat down.
Glancing at Shadow, he asked, "Are you not going to sleep. Don't you have classes, tomorrow?"
Shadow turned around and answered, "Classes for physical attributes Class weapon awakeners starts after 10. So, we don't need to go to bed early. In the Royal Frost Fall Academy, it's only the mages that have to go to bed early."
Saying that Shadow decreased the intensity of light of the Light Orb. The room dimmed down and now, Whittaker wouldn't be bothered.
Whittaker laid down on the bed. He was so tired that he fell into a deep sleep the moment his head hit the mellow pillow.
