Chapter 354: Suicide

Chapter 354: Suicide

"This is not the way to our home."

Miss Collin was sharp. It hadn't even been five seconds since Sylas took the wrong path. Until now, she hadn't felt that anything was amiss other than the fact that their supposed bodyguard wasn't doing his bodyguard duties.

At first, she thought that Sylas was just very good at concealing himself. But she, herself, wasn't a pushover. After not catching the slightest whiff of Sylas in an entire two hours, she realized that something must be the matter.

However, that also made her feel odd. If Sylas wanted to do something to them, why would he just vanish? And why let them go to the amusement park first?

Miss Collin was on edge ever since that previous incident. In fact, it was this incident that allowed Sylas to have such an easy time of it. She and her little boy had been attacked before, and Brant was almost too late to stop something terrible from happening.

It was Legacy.

The likes of Professor Fembroise weren't the only ones that Legacy wanted to catch. Much like Sylas could see through the fact that Brant had a great bit of value, so too could Legacy.

However, they weren't as familiar with Brant's personality and background as Sylas was, so they chose to use force rather than persuasion. Ultimately, the result was the failed attack.

Thanks to this, Brant had a legitimate reason to get his wife and son a guard, allowing Sylas to slip into that role perfectly.

Sylas didn't ignore the woman, as that would make things bad very quickly.

"Indeed, we aren't going to your home. But, all you need to do is think about how you ended up here, and you will understand."

Miss Collin's eyes flickered. Indeed, from start to finish, everything was her husband's idea. Even going to the amusement park today was something Brant had spent half an hour convincing her to do.

When she had this thought, she relaxed. In fact, she even smiled a bit.

Sylas looked in the rearview to see that she was calm and relaxed.

"Can I come out now?" Olivia grumbled.

Miss Collin was startled again. The SUV was large, and from her vantage point, she couldn't see that there was someone between Sylas' legs. She wouldn't even think to consider that something could fit down there to begin with.

"Not yet," Sylas replied. "Stay. Once we've been caught, then you can act."

Sylas looked back through the rearview again. "Protect your boy, but don't make it too obvious just yet."

Miss Collin nodded solemnly. Luckily, the toddler was all out of battery after their time in the amusement park, so he was in a deep sleep.

She gently arranged his hair and took a deep breath to calm herself.

'This is for the better...'

Time continued to tick by, and just when they were in a silent lull, Sylas hit a sudden turn and floored it.

...

"Suspect has made his move! I repeat, suspect has made his move!"

A cascade of orders fell, and Sylas could almost feel his skin prickle as several danger signs blared from his Luck.

The more time he spent with great Luck, the more he realized that it was far from just a measure of tipping the odds.

As the greatest athletes always said... Luck only triggered when opportunity met preparedness. Luck didn't just hand you things on a silver platter; it made you more alert, more ready, more keen to react.

Opportunity and preparation.

Sylas' gaze flashed, and the wide-body car weaved through the streets with a deftness that shouldn't have been possible. The SUV was like an extension of his body. He could feel when the tires were going to spin out and stay just beneath the threshold, but when they had to, he would use it to his advantage, drifting around corners and flooring it when he had to.

By this point, Miss Collin had already covered her boy's body with her own. As for Olivia, she was busy cursing in her mind because Sylas had tricked her again. When was she going to have time to climb out in this situation? If she disrupted Sylas now, they were all dead.

She had half a mind to punch him in the dick.

"Such a Cassarae thought," she mumbled to herself.

"Get ready to jump with everything you have. Don't think about it. When I give the signal, just

jump."

Sylas' words confused them, but they could only listen. Olivia moved into a more crouching position, grabbing Sylas' thighs to steady herself. At the same time, Miss Collin bundled her son, who had long since awakened, and leaned forward.

The little boy sure had great courage because even now, he looked like he was just enjoying any other roller coaster.

Sylas' gaze, however, was completely focused on what was ahead. They were quickly approaching the oncoming barrier, and by now, the military men and women were certainly getting antsy. The odds that they would fire on him now were high, but they also likely didn't believe that he would use the SUV as a battering ram. After all, if he did something like that, they would all die.

But that was exactly what Sylas was doing. Rather than slowing down, he was actually speeding up, heading toward the barricade.

The SUV had already hit over 150 kilometers an hour, and its engine was practically whistling

under the strain.

"MOVE! MOVE!"

The commanding officers threw out spikes, but Sylas countered with his telekinesis, forcefully keeping the air pressure within the tires. In the end, they could only command everyone to scatter.

Olivia couldn't see what was happening, but she heard the gunshots that followed. As for Miss Collin, her face was as pale as a sheet of paper... why wasn't Sylas slowing down? Was he going to kill them all?

Sylas didn't slow for even a second, and not once did his gaze even flicker as he rammed straight into the barrier.
