Chapter 50 Interrogation
Chapter 50 Interrogation
Thanks to the three Memory Spheres that he had gotten, his current principles had changed, and he viewed life differently.
Perhaps, if it were before he integrated with the memories of his alternate self, Shane would hesitate to shoot the man just now.
"Alright… Don't think of doing something funny, or you'll be shot. Slowly drop your weapons now." Shane said.
Luckily, the rest of them decided to cooperate as they slowly moved and dropped their knives, wooden spears, and empty revolvers.
Shane then squinted his eyes and asked a few questions, trying to get some information from the bandits. He wanted to know who they were, where they came from, and what they were planning. He wanted to find out if there were more of them and if they had any allies or enemies hiding somewhere.
Unfortunately, although they were already cornered, they were still not cooperative. They either kept silent or lied to his…
"We're not robbers! We just wanted some food!" "Yes, we're hungry! We just want to eat your dog?! How is that a crime?!"
"Please spare us! We should be helping each other at this time!"
Of course, Shane and the others didn't buy such a blatant lie. It seemed that Franky, the leader of their group, had taught them well of what to do in case they were captured like this.
'Are they not afraid of death?' Shane thought as he realized that getting reliable information from them was quite impossible. They had nothing useful to say, and they only wasted his time. 'Should I just kill them and loot their bodies?' Shane considered… They couldn't afford to have a prisoner right now. Even making them laborers wasn't a good choice as they might just flee or attack them once they got an opportunity.
As Shane was considering what to do, one of Franky's friends decided to take a risk. He saw that the night was dark and that there were a few zombies heading to the estate because of the commotion they made... 'Right… This could work!' The man thought as looked at the Survivors of the shelter they entered.
As soon as he noticed that they weren't particularly paying attention to him, he quickly suddenly stood up and ran, hoping to escape with the help of the darkness! For a moment, he thought that he could run away, use the Zombies as covers, and hide in the shadows. He didn't care about his comrades; he only cared about himself. n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
'Right… This could work!' The man thought as looked at the Survivors of the shelter they entered.
As soon as he noticed that they weren't particularly paying attention to him, he quickly suddenly stood up and ran, hoping to escape with the help of the darkness! He shouted, "I'm just going to take a pee! I'll be back!"
This may have fooled other people but it didn't work on Shane... He saw the man flee, and he aimed his revolver at him. He didn't even bother giving him a warning shot.
As he got the aim, he pulled the trigger, and he shot his leg.
Bang!
The bullet hit the bandit's leg, and he fell to the ground, screaming. He felt a terrible pain, and he saw blood gushing out of his wound.
He realized that he had made a grave mistake, and he regretted his cowardice.
"S-sorry, I'm not going to escape anymore…"
Nonetheless, Shane walked up to him, and he pointed his revolver at his head. He looked at him with disgust and anger. "I told you not to move…" Shane said as memories of his alternate life appeared in his vision… During the initial stages of the A.I. Rebellion's apocalypse, he was almost killed because of someone like him. The emotions that he felt at that time were transferred to him as well because of how he absorbed the Memory Sphere.
He pulled the trigger again, and he shot him.
Bang!
The man's head exploded, and he died instantly. A bullet had pierced his brain, ending his life in a flash.
Some of the blood splashed on Shane's face and he didn't even wipe it off.
Anna, Harper, and Leo weren't that surprised at his decision as it would show a good sample of the remaining captives. As a matter of fact, they were happy that their leader could make such a ruthless decision if it was necessary.
'So Sir Shane could also act like this…' Harper mused with a hint of a smile on his face. Shane had always shown his kind and caring side, but when it came to his enemies, Harper liked how Shane was acting.
'It's my first time seeing him like this… He's really perfect.' Anna thought as she held Lucky tightly on her side.
Leo, on the other hand, simply nodded at Shane's decision. He felt that this was just a normal course of action for someone who couldn't follow simple instructions.
Shane then spat on the man's body, and he walked away. He continued with their interrogation, and surprisingly, the death of their teammates changed their tone.
They suddenly admitted their wrongdoings, and they wanted to be given a second chance in life!
"Fine… Answer my questions then…"
Shane then asked them about the situation outside the region that they had already mapped. He wanted to know if there were any threats or opportunities that they should be aware of. As soon as they started telling what they were aware of, Shane and others were surprised by what they learned.
These people told them that there was a Giant Zombie roaming around this region! Furthermore, it had already killed many survivors who had entered its territory!
Based on how they describe this creature, Leo even felt that they were exaggerating the strength of this zombie.
'A ten-meter-tall zombie that can't be killed by a gun? How can that thing even exist?' Leo thought as he couldn't imagine seeing such a zombie. After all, the Zombies were supposed to be humans who had been infected by a certain virus.
It was just too much of a mutation to make a barely two-meter human into a ten-meter creature!
However, Franky and the others insisted that it was the truth!
They said that the Giant Zombie was truly huge and powerful and that it could crush anything in its path. They even claimed that they had seen it in action and that they had barely escaped with their lives.
Shane was alarmed by this information!
