Hang-up One Second to Achieve Lv.999

Chapter 37

C37 – Zhao Hao

Wen Shangwei watched Cao Faang walk away and couldn’t help but ask with concern, “How did you fare on the exam this time?”

Qi Ning replied with a grin, “Do you trust me?”

Seeing Qi Ning’s self-assured demeanor, Wen Shangwei chuckled and shook his head, “Whether I believe you or not is beside the point. You’re part of Class 3 now, and as your homeroom teacher, I’m committed to sharing in your triumphs and challenges.”

Qi Ning found Wen Shangwei to be quite an enigma.

In the current climate, it was remarkable that Wen Shangwei maintained such a positive attitude. Qi Ning had to admit he greatly respected him.

“Well, since you put it that way, I certainly won’t let you down,” Qi Ning said, heading toward the teaching director’s office.

“No way!”

As Qi Ning and Wen Shangwei drew near, they were met with Cao Faang’s shrieking voice.

Observing Qi Ning’s serene composure, Wen Shangwei inquired with curiosity, “Do you already know your grade?”

With a smile, Qi Ning shook his head, “I’m not quite that capable. But I have a strong feeling that my performance this time won’t disappoint!”

Upon reaching the teaching director’s office, they found Cao Faang frantically searching for something. Eventually, her gaze fixed on Qi Ning and Wen Shangwei.

To everyone’s astonishment, she dashed over to Qi Ning and bellowed with wild fury, “Did you cheat? How else could you score so high?”

Qi Ning and Wen Shangwei paid her no mind and continued toward the scoreboard.

The senior year at Sigu No. 1 Middle School consisted of ten classes with roughly seven hundred students in total.

Qi Ning quickly scanned the list and spotted his name on the first sheet.

“Rank 52, not bad at all!” Qi Ning beamed at Wen Shangwei.

Wen Shangwei’s face registered surprise.

Qi Ning had always been at the bottom of the rankings. To leap into the top 100 from a pool of over seven hundred students was no small feat.

The top 100 students at Sigu No. 1 Middle School had a shot at the country’s premier universities.

This meant that Qi Ning, who once had no prospects of university admission, could now potentially gain entry into one of the nation’s elite institutions based on his current test scores.

Qi Ning could fully grasp Cao Faang’s agitation.

Cao Faang had been on the verge of earning the title for the outstanding class. But with Qi Ning’s sudden improvement, her chances had become incredibly slim.

“Spill it,” Cao Faang demanded, seizing Qi Ning’s collar with a wild look in her eyes, “Did you cheat or not?”

Qi Ning effortlessly shrugged off Cao Faang’s grip and replied calmly, “I did not!”

“You didn’t?” Cao Faang, throwing caution to the wind, jabbed a finger at the score report and yelled, “You were always at the bottom of the rankings. Now, you’ve broken into the top 100. No one’s going to believe you didn’t cheat!”

Cao Faang’s shouts were so loud that they prompted the teaching director’s office door to swing open.

Zhao Hao stepped through the doorway, only to be confronted with Cao Faang’s frenzy.

He furrowed his brow and admonished her, “It’s unbecoming for a teacher to raise her voice like this!”

“Director Zhao!” Cao Faang, upon noticing Zhao Hao, rushed over to him as if he were a lifeline, her face flushed with emotion. “He cheated during the exam!”

With that, she pointed accusingly at Qi Ning.
