Hikari: Rise Of The Weapons Master

Chapter 168 The Disaster Of The Millenniums

Zack floated higher just in time to see the volcano erupting and giving rise to a chain reaction. Hundreds of volcanoes erupted in perfect sync, making the entire ocean rage war against itself.

Tremors traveled throughout the crust of the Earth before reaching the land. Zack couldn't see it yet he knew that earthquakes had struck around the entire world.

And they were no minors earthquakes.

In the past, he would have no known what to call the crazy mass explosion of underwater volcanoes but after getting his memories back, Zack knew that more of such things were about to happen soon.

'This world isn't compatible with mana which can only mean one thing,' Zack thought while staring at the sun above his head. 'Ragnarök…'

He sped up his ride, managing to travel the distance between himself and England in ten minutes. Every muscle in his body had been on the verge of being torn in half yet he managed to hold his ground.

Setting down in the capital city of England, Zack could see the destruction the explosions had caused in their wake.

The entire city was cracked in half, roads split apart, houses reduced to ruins, and hundreds of dead bodies lined the street.

Zack didn't pay them a single glance and kept walking forward. He scanned the faces of the dead, trying to find one matching Jules's face.

While waking, many cries of pain and agony entered his ears yet he ignored them all. He closed himself to the world with the sole goal of finding Jules.

'Why am I going so far for a person that can't even help me much?' He asked himself before flying around the city to look faster.

Call it a gut feeling or not, Zack believed that all of the team members he had thought of gathering were connected to him, or rather, all of them were connected.

Their lives mattered to each other, connected at a single point none of them could discover.

'This should be it.' Zack landed in front of the ruins of a house while matching the place with the location shown on his phone watch.

Compared to what he had thought, many had managed to survive due to their skills and spell. Mana had given them the ability to fight against natural disasters as well.

Zack slowly walked inside the house while casually chugging the rubble away. After reaching the stairs, he saw a blue light coming out of the cracks of fallen rocks.

He went ahead and threw all of them one by one to see a man with brown hair crouching on the ground with his hands on his shoulders.

A blue bubble was wrapped around him which had protected him from all of the debris. Zack touched the bubble with his right hand before popping it with his flames.

Jules was suddenly startled as he opened his terrified eyes to see a man standing above him. Rather, calling the person a man was an overstatement as he looked just around Jules's age.

The brown-haired youngster then looked around himself to see his entire place being reduced to ruins.

"Stand up," Zack called out as he grabbed Jules's right hand and pulled him right up.

Jules stumbled a little before standing firmly on his feet. His eyes then traveled to the other parts of the room before he suddenly felt a retching sensation building up in his stomach.

Lying under the broken roof were two men around Jules's age. Their entire bodies had been squished by the metal and only their face, which had stayed out of the metal's range, made it possible for them to be recognized.

They were Jules's roommates who shared the same house with him and paid the rent alongside him.

"Ugh…" Jules bent down on the ground before emptying his stomach. Zack looked at this with a pitiful gaze as he felt like the person pulling the soon-to-be protagonist out of his shock.

Except he was the protagonist, the one who will remain alive and suffer till the end.

"Jules, do you know who I am?" Zack asked after a few minutes as Jules had managed to somehow managed to retain a small portion of his sanity.

"You are the number one player, the strongest person on Earth. Your name is Zack…" He muttered in a barely audible voice as Zack nodded.

He then put his hand on Jules's right shoulder before staring into his eyes.

"I am here to take you away to somewhere safe." He said before taking out before the two of them suddenly rose in the air.

Zack got two new skills the moment he recovered a few memories after touching Hayden's finger. The new skills allowed him to be able to fly as long as he had one or more people beside him.

The second skill was something that could be considered a small trump card.

"You are safe as long as you are with me." Zack suddenly said as the two of them flew over the city.

Zack had felt his brain being split into multiple brains every time he remembered something from the past but this time, he remembered something that he had experienced once in neither his past life nor his first life.

It was something from a completely different life where the world had been thrashed by similar disasters though at half the level of the current times.

He remembered dying back then, the reason being a group of street dogs. One might wonder how street dogs could kill a human, especially one with mana that easily.

The answer was simple. They themselves became a mutation due to the mana.

Howls and other types of screams rose through the entire city, making the already dark day take a darker turn.

Zack and Jules both looked down, one with a grim expression and one with a terrified one. Three dogs had just grown five times in size as their paws extended to become the claws of an overgrown wolf.

Their teeth grew to be one foot long as they howled towards the sky, their eyes becoming bloodshot. The ground around their feet trembled lightly as fallen debris suddenly rose and circled their body.

Their pupils shrank down as they suddenly bashed their heads against a wall.

Zack knew that they were feeling immensely sharp pain inside their head as though someone was banging them with a hammer.

This was what happened when mana mixed with those who were incapable of using the. The 'dogs' howled in frustration before they lunged out and started hitting whatever they saw.

The pieces of debris around them would hit the humans in other directions too. The real nightmare started as humans and mad mutations started fighting.

Jules felt his stomach churn for the second time in a row as he saw the dead bodies lining the streets, both humans and mutated animals.

The gore was too much for him as Zack placed his hand on his back, supporting him.

"This is the new world, Jules. It's not just dog eat dog. Its dinosaur eats dinosaurs while the biggest dinosaurs enjoy everything from afar.

It was the biggest disaster mankind had ever seen. The disaster of the millenniums.
