Chapter 475 Rescue-4
Chapter 475 Rescue-4
If he did a frontal attack, he was sure it would be reported to the police, which he didn't have the luxury of. It was a little tricky, but he quickly hatched a plan. He first jumped across the road; it was a ten-meter jump, but he made it. The problem was that the other side of the building had a slant roof; he carefully landed on the curved sunroof, protecting the window.
His movements were quick and agile as he tried to avoid the security cameras around the intersection. He landed at the backside of the building and sneakily entered through the back. The first scene he saw was of a dead woman lying on the floor, accompanied by a pungent smell. She must have been dead for a few days already.
He was silent for a few seconds while looking at her. It felt like she was looking back at him, so he bent down, closed her eyelids, and said a few prayers for her. It was not like the standard prayer but was that of revenge; after dwelling on it and checking other rooms, he found no other clue except the staff room was turned into a temporary armory.
He carefully locked the door by wielding it shut using his elemental power on the doorknob. He couldn't risk being shot at while carrying Elise back out. After which, he walked inside the cafe counter and ducked down behind it.
He could see a few dirty utensils in the sink, so he took one out and threw it in the other direction. The crash made a loud sound, immediately alerting the people sitting outside on the patio. Both of them stood up and entered the cafe while looking around.
" What was that?"
" There? Is that a flour sifter? How did it get here?"
" It must be a cat. There are all sorts of animals interested in having a taste," he said with a smile.
" Quit smiling and go to the back to check. Remember, we have to leave before anyone finds the body."
Samuel heard their conversation and looked at the computer screen at the counter. It looked like the surveillance was down just as he expected; there were two cameras inside the cafe and one outside, and all were making noise.
Both of them took out their gun and started moving in formation; one covered the far door from the back, and the front one checked the corners. Samuel didn't need to see to know their movements; just as the first guy was about to turn toward the back of the counter, he put two bullets directly into his skull.
The other guy couldn't react when Samuel popped out and drilled three holes inside his body. He was extra ruthless because of what he heard them talking about the poor dead lady.
It had been five minutes, and he was right in front of their base. One more team was stationed at the top of a slightly taller building outside the motel, seeing everything. He was still outside their field of area, but they could see him if he stepped outside through the cafe door.
He thought briefly and devised a plan to lead him directly inside the compound. He returned inside, opened the armory again, and took out a few high-tech equipment he recognized. It was a modified gun for wire launcher; it was scarce to see it here, but seeing what these guys were capable of, it was not a surprise they had gadgets beyond this era.
He went back and circled the building in the blind spot and was high enough to launch the wire through the roof. Correctly positioning it, Samuel aimed two floors below the team and fired it. Fortunately, it was not loud enough to alert the people in the vicinity, but it would not be the case when he made his way through the tripline.
Taking out the pulley, he laid it on the wire and positioned himself onto it. It would be impossible for a normal human being to get across at such an elevated angle, but he could do it. Looking around, he spotted everyone who could see him attempting such a daredevil move.
It was a thirty-meter drag; if he was not quick enough, he would be spotted not just by pedestrians but by the enemies inside the motel. Holding his breath, he looked for a window of opportunity and made the jump.
His body constantly expanded and constricted as he made his way across at a lightning-fast speed. He was moving so fast that the friction made the square pulley device heat up. Thankfully, he reached across without anyone noticing, but the problem was he was still hanging at the side of the building with nothing to leap onto.
He saw a window ledge about five meters to his side, but at this angle it was impossible for him to directly jump on it without any support. He flipped his body and landed on the rope, which began swinging because of his heavy movement.
He was wobbling with his arms open to the side to maintain his balance. He had to make a move, or else he would be detected, but there was also a chance of him slipping mid-air, making him fall nearly forty meters onto a concrete floor!
He was getting acknowledge to the movement, and when the wire was farthest from the ledge, he made the leap. His foot slipped a little, and he knew he was not going to make it, so he used his trump card, the wind elemental, to push him forward.
It was one of the most challenging elements for him to control, especially on such a dry day, but he did it somehow. It exhausted a lot of his magic powers, but at least he was not exposed. After catching his breath and calming down his adrenaline rush, he made haste toward the top.
The rest was an easy cleanup; both were perched up with their sniper and didn't know when Samuel sneaked behind them and shot them point blank without warning. It was understandable they were not manning the door because they had so many other people spread out in the vicinity, they had to hear something over the radio if someone were to attack right?
Samuel stood on the roof and inspected the hotel with his eyes for the first time. A five-story building with ten tangos stationed at different entrances. He could see why they chose this location; there were not a lot of tall buildings around it, and with a park directly behind the hotel, it was easier for them to escape if something were to go wrong.
He already knew that Elise was on the topmost floor, probably because they didn't feel anyone could come through the roof, but they hadn't calculated someone like Samuel to exist in this world. Carefully mapping the whole place in his mind, he pulled out the wiregun he had taken from the armory earlier.
Taking a few deep breaths, he pointed it to the exhaust pipe on the roof and fired it. It latched itself perfectly, but it also made some noise. This time, he didn't need to hold back; loading his pistol again, he grabbed the pulley with one hand and pointed his sidearm toward the gate on the roof as he slid across the buildings, anticipating the person rushing on the stairs.
The wooden gate didn't even open before he fired several shots and landed directly on the roof. With full speed, he descended the stairs directly toward the room Elise was held!
