Chapter 180 To The Malacañang Palace
Lieutenant General Rivera stared at Khalon and the elite soldiers before him. He had to admit that these people were more capable than his men. He had seen them practice in the training facility and their individual skills alone already surpassed the strength of the best soldier under him.
The commanding general felt safe with these men escorting him.
"General, please step inside the helicopter." Khalon said in a calm voice as he pointed at the Black Dragon Assault Helicopter.
Lieutenant General Rivera nodded his head. "Let's go." He whispered to his right-hand man, Jerome Lasala.
After the two of them entered the helicopter, Khalon and the others followed. The two people piloting the helicopter were the Eliott siblings, Clementine and Flynn.
The assault helicopter was big enough to carry forty people so it still felt spacious with only twenty-two of them.
"How did Mr. Roa create such a terrifying behemoth?" Jerome muttered as soon as he entered the helicopter.
The commanding general shook his head. "I don't know." He didn't have the time to ask Arlan about this since they had been very busy in the last few weeks.
Before they took flight, the commanding general grabbed his phone and dialed the acting president's phone number.
When the call connected, he heard an excited voice on the other line. "Hello, commanding general! I'm happy to receive your call!"
Lieutenant General Rivera smiled when he heard this. The acting president was one of the few good officials of Maharlika. He didn't use his power and authority for his own gain. The only regrettable thing was that his influence in the government was limited. "Hello, Mr. President. I apologize for being impolite earlier."
"It's fine! I understand. There's no need to worry."
The commanding general heaved a sigh of relief. The acting president was truly a magnanimous person. "I am on my way to the palace. I should be there at 2 p.m. I hope I still have a seat for the meeting." He said while looking at the time on his watch.
"That's good to hear! I will personally welcome you and don't worry, I've already reserved a seat for you! Hahaha!"
Lieutenant General Rivera grinned at his words. "I will go there via helicopter since time is tight. I won't make this conversation long since we are about to take flight." The commanding general said.
"Alright. See you soon."
Lieutenant General Rivera disconnected the call after informing the acting president that he would participate in the meeting.
Soon, they left Last City and headed to the Malacañang Palace.
At around 2:11 p.m., an imposing helicopter landed behind the palace.
"What a powerful-looking aircraft! Is this the new helicopter of our military?"
"I haven't seen this thing before. When did we buy something like this?"
The high officials who were there to welcome the commanding general were stunned when they saw the Black Dragon Assault Helicopter.
Lieutenant General Rivera jumped out of the aircraft. Following behind him was a group of intimidating soldiers.
The acting president immediately walked towards him and smiled while extending his arm. "Welcome, General Rivera! Thank you for coming here!" He said in a jovial tone. With the presence of the commanding general, he felt more confident about the execution of his plans.
"Mr. President, I'm relieved to see you in good health." The commanding general smiled while shaking Manuel Chavez's hand.
Manuel Chavez grinned at his words. Just as he was about to say something, he suddenly noticed a familiar figure standing behind the commanding general. Seeing him, the acting president's eyebrows jumped up in surprise. "Sir Khalon?" He had been looking for this man for quite some time, but he found no traces of him.
Lieutenant General Rivera was taken aback when he realized that the acting president actually knew about Khalon. "Sir, you know about Sir Khalon?" He asked.
Manuel Chavez nodded his head and replied emotionally. "How could I forget my son's savior? If not for him, I don't know if I could still see my son." He then walked towards Khalon and grabbed his hands.
Khalon was surprised by the sudden turn of events.
"Thank you for saving my son, Sir Khalon. I tried to look for you before, but even the police and the military were unaware of your whereabouts. I only had small clues about your location, but I didn't go to those places because of the lack of information." The acting president said while happily shaking Khalon's hands.
Khalon pulled his hands from him and calmly shook his head. "I was only doing my job. There is no need to thank me." He replied.
The acting president smiled gently at him. He then noticed that everyone was still watching them so he faked a cough and said. "Oh my! It's so hot outside. Why don't we go inside the palace first?"
Manuel Chavez led the group inside the palace and he brought Khalon and Lieutenant General Rivera to his office. "Please sit down." He said to them.
"I'm happy to see you here, General Rivera and I didn't expect that you would actually bring Sir Khalon with you. May I ask if he is working in the military?" The acting president asked with a smile.
Hearing this, Lieutenant General Rivera shook his head. "Sir Khalon isn't part of the military."
Manuel Chavez was surprised by this. "Then he is..."
"He is..." Lieutenant General Rivera hesitated.
"I'm working for Mr. Arlan Dominic Roa. I came here under his orders to escort the commanding general and ensure his safety." Khalon suddenly said while looking at the acting president.
"I see..." Manuel Chavez nodded his head. From the little information he got about Khalon, there was a sentence saying that he was seen together with a local tycoon. He wasn't familiar with Arlan Dominic Roa, but he became curious about this person.
"Mr. President, can you tell us the purpose of the meeting?" Lieutenant General Rivera asked with a serious look.
