Chapter 115: A new Excalibur

"Haaaaa!!!"

Ha Joon felt a sharp pain swell up within him.

The hand that held the fake Excalibur burned, with lightning sparking around it and eating away at his skin.

"Ha Joon! Your arm, it's…burning…!" Merlin leaned forward, confused as to what she should do.

Even with the way he was screaming, Ha Joon didn't once open his eyes… he kept at it, holding the blade tightly in his grasp…

Until—

Baam!

The blade shot out from his grasp, missing Merlin's face by only a hair's length before it stabbed into the wall behind her.

Meanwhile, Ha Joon's body fell flat to the ground, his hand oozing with steam, leaving the room smelling like roasted meat and failure.

[You have failed to surpass the original.]

[Would you like to try again?]

Ha Joon groaned angrily.

"Damn that stupid sword! It's trying to keep me from touching her, and I'll be damned if I give up so easily! First Heal!"

Green light shone around his hand, healing his damaged limbs.

Immediately, he sat upright, his face filled with determination.

"Dear mother of heaven, what the hell is even going on?" Merlin shook her head as she rested her butt back on the table.

"You don't have to worry about that, just stay there and look pretty… I'm about to teach this bratty sword what I'm capable of."

He called the sword back to his hand and continued again from the top.

And again.

And again.

And again.

With a thud, Ha Joon fell to his knees, his expression that of a child in tears—

'H-how did I fail… 17 times?!'

He sniffed.

'Why is this damn sword trying so hard... and why me? I just want to break a stupid curse, man… freaking sword making me feel so useless.' He looked to the side, his mouth open in exhaustion.

"Are you done yet?" Merlin asked.

She had gotten behind her desk and continued her work about 12 trials into Ha Joon's attempts at breaking the curse.

"Shouldn't you be helping me? You're her attendant, after all…" Ha Joon voiced with a forced smile, getting slightly annoyed at her carefree nature.

"I would, but then again, no one knows half of what goes through your head. We both agree I'd just be holding you back, no?" She looked at him.

Ha Joon sighed.

"Fine, I'll do it myself."

Focusing back on the blade, Ha Joon took a deep breath, grabbing the hilt of the sword and stretching it out in front of him.

"Let's do this again… synchro."

His energy shimmered, slipping into the essence of the blade.

[Shop has been opened.]

And just like before, he began to purchase qualities for the blade, abilities that the original Excalibur had and so much more.

The more qualities he appraised, the more Excalibur fought back.

'I can easily nullify the pain, but I can't guarantee my hand will be strong enough to keep up! Shit, I'm already losing my grip again… come on, I'm almost there, I can feel it, just one more...'

[Congratulations! You have successfully created a new Excalibur.]

A smile appeared on Ha Joon's face.

'I did it!'

[A total of 7540 EP were spent.]

'Forget that! I made a new Excalibur!!! Eat that, you asshole!!!'

Ha Joon was filled with happiness as he raised the golden blade to the sky.

After so many attempts, he had managed to overthrow the original Excalibur, creating the new main Excalibur.

Jerking up from the ground, Ha Joon turned to Merlin. "I'll be right back, and when I am, you better be naked to congratulate me for breaking the curse!"

As he said this, he sprinted out, not wasting a single second.

Merlin was calm for a while, trying to process what he was talking about… and then she did.

Her face shifted with shock, "You broke the curse!!!"

Outside Merlin's workshop, Ha Joon sprinted down the hallway. The maids and other people watched him, wondering why the soon-to-be king was acting in such a manner.

He ran, his form a blur, barely visible to the onlookers.

After a few moments, he finally arrived where he was headed.

"Artoriaaaaaaaaaaa~"

He sang, opening the door and shutting it immediately, swinging Excalibur in one hand.

"I have a surprise for youuuuuu… A…rtoria?"

The room was empty.

'I could've sworn she said she didn't have anywhere to go today.'

Ha Joon walked in, moving towards the window to take a peek outside, and saw people already buying clothes and things for the upcoming wedding.

The groom of said wedding had not even started any preparations.

With a nervous chuckle, he gripped the curtain. 'Ceil, add wedding stuff to my to-do list.'

[Should I add that to important or secondary ones?]

'As long as it's on the list… I'm perfectly fine with either.'

[Understood. (Wedding things) has been added.]

'Now then…' He looked to the left, 'Where did Artoria go?'

"Ha Joon?"

Hearing Artoria's voice, Ha Joon instantly turned around with a smile on his face, ready to greet her with open arms.

At least… that was until he saw her.

"When did you get in?" she asked.

Standing in front of the changing room, with only a small towel covering her front, her thighs were exposed, her clean soft skin, perfectly lined waist, even her cleavage—which the towel couldn't fully contain—were all out for Ha Joon to see.

His smile faded, completely enchanted by her beauty. He had always known she was beautiful, easily the prettiest woman he had ever met.

But in that moment—deep down, he was glad that this woman would soon become his wife.

"You… are beautiful," he blurted out as he gawked.

"T-Thanks…" Artoria's cheeks flushed. She had managed to keep her cool even after he saw her naked, and now he was just straight-up complimenting her.

Realizing what he had said, Ha Joon looked to the side, his own cheeks turning red as he stretched the blade forward.

"Here… I've broken the curse."
