Chapter 8: Chapter 8: Creating A Legend... [1]
Lancelot turned away, looking towards the huge door with extravagant runes that began glowing, followed by the loud sounds of a hidden mechanism.
"Tsk, damn enchantress kissing so easily like a cheap woman."
[Oh my~ a succubus loves a compliment like that!]
[Thank you, my dear Lancelot!]
"Ugh..."
He bit his lip, knowing he couldn't yet beat this woman with his mouth.
'Damn woman...'
[Hehe~ anytime, Mommy will take it all for you.]
Morgana only watched him with a warm gaze.
Neither his thoughts against her nor the blade in his left hand now pressing against her throat phased her.
She knew Lancelot too well.
Not just his mind and body were broken in those dark, hopeless final moments.
But also his heart.
The fetters that bound and twisted his fragmented heart caused by a single woman's perfectly timed betrayal led to his doom.
[(That bitch! Leaving a scar even my pact couldn't heal!)]
Lancelot didn't know or care about the succubi's inner turmoil.
He just continued down his path with blades in hand.
A path he would carve himself.
-
His steps were faint, knowledge of his past to never stomp or needlessly announce your arrival.
The old memories flashed across his eyes for a moment, Lancelot's feet sliding across the dirt, moving ever closer to the sleeping monster in the deep burrow 300 yards from him.
Lancelot remembered the academy's insistence on following the Lord's code.
Uphold justice and seek honour in battle, do not look for profit or forsake the weak.
He used to believe this creed, treating it as common sense.
Until his pride, honour and justice were crushed, stomped underfoot and ignored by his allies and most trusted people.
Now, he believed it to be hubris, useless!
'Honour?'
'Justice?'
'Don't make me laugh!'
'I need but one thing.'
'Victory!'
Shling!
His swords flickered in the dark light within the haunting barrow, dark, murky water oozing from the muddy walls.
He crept along broken tiles with strange runes painted along them strewn across the ground.
Lancelot made his way towards the huge ball curled up in the back of the barrow, with eight legs, no stinger and a black, hairy body.
'This is no scorpion, but a ghost spider King!'
Woosh!
'Nothing will start if I don't fight! Watch me, Evaine! The man who will tame you once again!'
'Arthur, you dog! I will outshine you from the start! GO! Betray humanity; watch as these blades slice your throat, pierce your heart!'
'I will not fall, even should my body be pierced with a thousand arrows!'
Boom!
The huge spider began to stir.
Its body was at least 10 feet tall with huge legs that spanned at least double that filled with sharp fur and a strange glisten like that of a liquid making the spider hard to see when it moved them.
'Morgana, use whatever you can! Stall it, slow it, mesmerise it!'
[Fufu~ Yes, master!]
Lancelot's body was already leaping into the air when he ordered her with a sharp voice.
He felt a cooling breeze blowing his face while his body rotated mid-air, two blades shimmering as he shot towards the ghost spider's exposed torso.
[Little spider! Follow Mother's orders and let my man carve your body!]
"Krreeeeeh!" The spider's mouth made a strange sound.
The skill instantly caused Lancelot's body to stop spinning before a huge black leg, harder than steel, smashed into his abdomen.
His body flew across the room like a ball before smashing into the stone walls with an earthshaking thud.
[!!!]
[Little bastard! Dare resist mother's spells!]
"Ugh..." Blood and vomit shot from his open mouth before he rolled down the sharp rocks, tearing and slicing open his chest.
Clang!
Lancelot's body rolled to his feet like it was second nature.
Another huge black leg slammed against the floor the next moment, crushing and flinging dirt and broken slates from the impact.
"Shit!"
Before it could launch another, his body dashed forward, watching as a huge cone of flames exploded from Morgana's palms, burning the spider's face and back.
"Greeeeeeeeh!"
It tried the same skill which seemed to disrupt Lancelot before, but sadly Morgana was a special race.
Succubi were hard to attack unless forced into the physical realm; her body was now translucent like a ghost.
This method was not foolproof; it lowered her effectiveness by 40%. Her charm and mesmerising would have a lower success rate.
However, she couldn't take damage or die.
'Morgana, that's good, don't waste time controlling it anymore; just burn the fucker until you are tired!'
'Then rest and cover me when you fully recover!'
'It will take time, but we can do it!'
A strange blue light began to flicker around the tips of his blades, like a bolt of lightning; however, it was merely the light.
The trail of the blue luminance travelled down his arms, along his body, before he became slightly ethereal.
Lancelot's movements began leaving behind several afterimages as he rushed towards the huge spider.
His eyes locked on the weak sections, its joints, the belly, and its eight eerie red eyes.
"Raaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!" Lancelot screamed as he kicked off the ground with everything he had, making him move like a streak of lightning, even faster than Morgana's fire.
Lancelot's sword in his left hand swung upwards before disappearing and reappearing at the arachnid's neck.
A splatter of green blood sprayed from the wound, the spider shuddering as its legs and body shrank, seeming to want to bite or lash out at him.
[Eh!?]
However...
Lancelot's body vanished the moment he was done swinging his right sword.
Leaving the ghost spider to shiver in confusion as Morgana's fire continued to burn its back.
Then Lancelot reappeared behind the monster, spinning like a tornado and carving a path of destruction with his blade.
Blood flew through the green, red, purple and black air as the huge spider's body convulsed, jerking its legs in all directions.
Lancelot's eyes were blazing as he glared at the monster.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
He seemed like he had lost all senses, roaring while smashing his head into the huge spider's back, causing more blood to fly, grasping both of his blades.
Shling!
Lancelot used one foot to push himself off the spider, its body now glowing with a strange white aura.
'Time for the true battle!' Lancelot beamed in his mind with a broad smile covering his face.
[My King...?]
Morgana could only fire her flames in short bursts, wondering why Lancelot seemed to enjoy battle so much more in this life...
A sense of excitement filled her chest.
