Chapter 370: Examiners Of The Omega Dome
....
'Ever since leaving the Everveil Kingdom, the Great Pinnacle Golden Immortal Realm has become the bottom,' Azmodeus thought. 'Whereas the All-Encompassing Immortal Realm has become the bare minimum to travel out into the world.'
Although Azmodeus had long since expected it to be this way, it was still something else to actually experience it in person.
Heaving a sigh, he looked away from the open back of the carriage and returned to silently meditation and cultivating.
After a couple hours of travel, it finally came time for the Knight Examiner and the participants to get off the carriage and arrive at their destination.
Step, Step.
While getting out of the carriage, Azmodeus immediately noticed the extremely tall buildings all around him. Their tips were pyramid-shaped, and the material that made them up was very old and rustic, but not in a dirty brown kind of way. It was more dark gray and dreary, like a very old bell tower.
Coincidentally, when Azmodeus's eyes fell on the upper-center segment of one of the towers, he saw a massive golden bell. It shone with a resplendence that reflected the rays of light beaming down on the Omega Dome.
The Omega Dome was, as its name implied, a sphere-shaped dome, and it sat to the far eastern side of the River Serpent Empire. It was made up of countless, high-reaching towers, each one holding within it one of the illustrious Omega Knights.
The Omega Knights numbered in the dozens, and each one of them was a peak expert of the River Serpent Empire. Although not officially on the rankings, if they were, they would at least be in the top 30, with some like the Punisher Omega Knight going even further than that.
They were the secret force that ruled over the law-enforcement department of the River Serpent Empire, and though their numbers were few, for the Empire, their value was indisputable.
"This, younglings, will be where you will take the next Trials, and if you successfully pass them, this will also be your home," the Examiner said as he beckoned the young adults toward a medium-sized brick building off to the side.
The building was known as the 'Testing Facility', and it was also where every single Knight Participant was required to go after passing the first trial of the test.
"Speaking of the devil," the Examiner said with a crooked smile. Out of the corner of his eye, there approached another Examiner and his group of participants.
"I see you have brought in quite the batch this year," laughed a middle-aged man with a goatee. "Though you beat your record, it still must be tough to accept that others have simply done better than you, huh?"
Listening to the snarky voice of Li Chin, the Examiner on Azmodeus's side, Min Jin, had multiple veins pop up on his forehead.
He really hated that conceited bastard! Like, he really, really hated him!
"Why the long face, good ol friend," Li Chin laughingly joked. He had already reached Min Jin, and was now patting him on the shoulder while having behind him more than ten Knight Participants.
It was quite obvious that Li Chin was trying to show off and flaunt some sh*t. To which Min Jin had to do his best to remain composed and wear a friendly smile on his face.
However, if that potbelly bastard kept on touching his shoulder, he would flip his lid and freak the fuck out!!
Luckily…
"You two are at it again?" A calming voice trailed out, followed by the appearance of a refined-looking man wearing a pair of glasses.
"Zhong Lan," Min Jin said with relief. "It's nice to see you again this year."
"Good to see you, too, Min Jin," Zhong Lan said as they shook hands and exchanged a few pleasantries.
"..."
Li Chin was going to speak up and mention this clear disregard for his existence, but upon seeing the 15+ participants that Zhong Lan had behind him, he shut his trap and kept to himself.
It wasn't long after this that a few more Knight Examiners entered the scene.
Before long, there were more than thirty Knight Examiners gathered outside the doors to the Testing Facility. The time then came for them to walk in and test the aspects of the hundreds of participants.
Azmodeus, his Examiner, Min Jin, and the rest were the first to walk in.
"Hmm…?" Curious, Azmodeus observed the inside of the Training Facility and saw the walls lined with hanging lamps that had crystal clear blue stones in them.
'Rank 4 Immortal Stones are being used as mere decoration,' Azmodeus thought in awe. 'The River Serpent Empire and Omega Dome must be extremely rich if they can afford to be so wasteful.'
Turning his greedy gaze down from the money hanging on the walls, his dark red eyes fell on a large blue crystal to the far end of the middle section of the hall. Sitting in the center of an upside-down cauldron, it practically exuded extravagance!
"Listen up, younglings," the Examiner said evenly. "That big crystal there is what will be used to conduct the next trial, which also acts as the final trial. It will analyze everything about your existence and point out anything worthy of notice. Your future or failure as a potential Omega Knight will be decided here and now, so steel your nerves."
Thud, Thud, Thud.
Each step that Azmodeus and the other participants took toward the Crystal seemed to hold an entirely different meaning for them. It was a daunting and scary feeling.
This was what would determine if they made it or broke it! Either they display their worth here, or they go home in tears and continue living a life of insignificance!
However, for Azmodeus, he was far more interested in the cost of the Crystal than his so-called 'future'.
This Omega Dome was not the only shortcut he had to choose from; it was simply the one that was most convenient to try out first.
If it didn't work out, then so what?
You wouldn't be finding Azmodeus weeping in a corner while butthurt over not being qualified enough to join the Omega Knights.
"Okay, now in the order I picked you up in the Serpent God's Forest, please walk up to the Crystal and put your hands on it. Only then will we all be able to see your potential," the Examiner said as he gave the first of his participants a little nudge.
