Interstellar Survival: Invasion

Chapter 278: Reunion With Li Yizhi

Chapter 278: Reunion With Li Yizhi

"To defeat a superior civilization, you need to rely on an even more superior civilization," replied Temo without much thought.

"Don't you always proclaim yourself as a member of a superior civilization?" Zhang Bao'er grabbed the chance to sneer at Temo.

"I said an even more superior civilization. Do you not understand me? You need a civilization at a level higher than the star level," said Temo.

"Where do we find such a civilization?" asked Old Du.

"Perhaps such civilizations can be found outside the Milky Way Galaxy. Inside the Milky Way itself, I have only seen one civilization seemingly at the array level," replied Temo.

"Are you referring to Bulu?" I asked.

"Exactly. I have kept it for nearly two years. Even now, I still don't understand that little fellow. It will only visit me once per month, but for the remaining time, I have no idea where it goes. The last time it left, it had not returned until now," said Temo.

"It's back. That fellow is sleeping soundly in Canyue's backpack," said Zhang Bao'er.

"Oh," replied Temo in a noncommittal manner.

"Bulu is not good at expressing itself. It is also highly independent. I doubt we can get much help from it to win a war of this scope. Apart from Bulu, do you know about any other high-level civilizations?" I asked.

"That's too hard to find. The Sacred Wing race has spent hundreds of thousands of years in pursuit of technological excellence, but up until now, we have yet to encounter a higher-level civilization," said Temo, sinking me into the pit of despair.

"Apart from getting the help of a high-level civilization, what other options do we have?" asked Old Du.

"Emperor Fille is the one who caused the war. You can stop the war if you can get rid of him, but doing so will be harder than going for a long interstellar journey in search of help," said Temo.

Temo might be speaking casually without putting much thought into it, but I realized something from his words. My eyes lit up in anticipation.

"Where is Emperor Fille currently?" I asked.

"Have you gone mad? That was a casual remark. Don't tell me you're really thinking of assassinating the emperor," said Temo in astonishment.

"Just tell me the emperor's location," I said calmly.

"My apologies, but I really have no idea. The emperor's whereabouts aren't something you can find from the system," said Temo.

"Canyue, with only the four of us, it is too difficult to even approach the emperor. The league is facing a cruel war. Why don't we return first? We can try to look for Commander Zhang Xingxing before thinking of our next plan," said Old Du.

The conversation made me realize that this was a hopeless war. It was only a matter of time before Blue and Gliese were destroyed. I was saddened by the realization. We were unable to think of any good solution, so Temo suggested that we take a rest first. He would show us the true appearance of the superweapon after we rest.

With the meeting concluded, we started resting on our chairs. Before long, Zhang Bao'er's snores rang out. The chair was exceedingly comfortable, but I was unable to fall asleep. The cruel ending of humanity hovered in my mind. The beauty, glory, and history of Blue would be erased into nothingness by the planets transported by the superweapons. However, my exhaustion eventually won over my hyperactive brain, and I gradually fell asleep.

"Li Canyue, I've been waiting a long time for you."

In my daze, I heard a familiar voice. I opened my eyes and was greeted by Li Yizhi's face.

"Li Yizhi, is that you? You're still alive?" I exclaimed joyfully.

"Yes. If you still remember me, it means that time has not erased me from your memories," said Li Yizhi gently.

"How can I forget you? You took great risks to save all of us on Cloudcast. How could I forget that?" I replied.

"In that case, do you still remember where I came from?" asked Li Yizhi.

Suddenly, I remembered how the remains we had found after her sacrifice indicated that she came from 2122, which was 30 years in the future. Remembering that, I sat up straight in excitement.

By my side, Dodo asked with concern, "Respected guest, are you having a nightmare?"

Only then did I realize that the sight of Li Yizhi was merely a dream. Nevertheless, a vague answer had still formed in my heart.

"Old Du, Bao'er, Anxashe, wake up!" I shook the three. Even Temo came over after hearing my voice.

"I just fell asleep. Canyue, can't you let me have a good sleep?" complained Zhang Bao'er as he sat up.

"Old Du, do you still remember Li Yizhi?" I asked, ignoring Zhang Bao'er's complaining.

"Of course. Who can forget a beauty like that?" answered Zhang Bao'er before Old Du could say anything.

"Then do you remember what we saw on Li Yizhi's remains after her sacrifice?" I asked.

"Of course. One of them said that the organ was made in 2122," replied Old Du as a pensive look suddenly appeared on his face.

"Exactly. If Li Yizhi came from 30 years in the future, and she once said that she was sent back in time by a Gliesen. In other words, both Blue and Gliese survived destruction," I concluded.

"You are correct, Canyue. If the Interstellar League has really been destroyed, why would there be a Gliesen sending Li Yizhi back in time?" said Zhang Bao'er in excitement.

"There is also a possibility that Emperor Fille had spared a few Gliesens from destruction," Temo voiced his doubt.

"Not possible. I have a very strong feeling that that's not the case at all. Something is telling me that the Interstellar League will not suffer a complete defeat," I said confidently.

"That would be odd. Have I overlooked something about this perfect encirclement?" muttered Temo, whose confidence wavered upon seeing my confidence.

"We must have missed something important, something capable of reversing the entire conflict," I said. I was confident there was a reason Li Yizhi would appear in my dream.

Everyone sank into deep thought, thinking of anything that might turn things around for us in the war.

A few minutes later, a familiar scene appeared in my mind, a scene from two years ago.

"I remember!" I exclaimed.

"Did you think of something?" Even Temo, a member of a star-level civilization, was filled with curiosity.

"I need to see one person. Where is the superweapon built on Black King itself? I need to enter its brain area," I requested.

"I also remember! Are you referring to your encounter with the worm colony brain on the beast planet?" asked Temo, who immediately realized what I was talking about.

"Yes. I need to meet the grand commander of this brain, Violetvoid. We need to meet and talk about saving their great sovereign. By doing so, we will have the chance to gain control of the superweapons," I said in excitement.

"Violetvoid? Is that the mind commander Bluevoid told you about during your previous encounter with it? The superweapon made on Black King is currently in charge of moving Black King to the Solar System. Violetvoid is probably located in the brain of the superweapon beside this skyscraper. Unfortunately, the emperor moved the great sovereign to Eternal after the war broke out," said Temo, giving us a piece of news that was both good and bad at the same time.

Nevertheless, a meeting with Violetvoid would still give us a chance to move a step forward in gaining control over the superweapons.

I stood up and said decisively, "We shouldn't delay. Let's set out immediately."

When he heard my words, a look of excitement that shouldn't appear on a superior being like Temo could be seen on his face.

"The little ship you took here won't be able to get into the outer space where the brain is at. I have a present for you," said Temo mysteriously.

"Just take it out already. We can't afford to pull our punches anymore," said Zhang Bao'er impatiently.

This time, Temo ignored Zhang Bao'er and turned around to face his control panel. There, he inserted a long string of commands before taking out a bottle of blue liquid. The blue liquid was poured into Dodo's ear.

"Hey, what are you doing this time?" asked Zhang Bao'er, who was utterly confused by Temo's actions.

"Fatty, you're too noisy. I'm helping your friend recover their memories," said Temo with disdain.

A few minutes later, sounds of machines turning on rang out from Dodo's body. Next, the steel-forged fellow looked up at us.

"Canyue, Bao'er, Old Du, Anxashe, I'm happy to see you again. I feel like I have taken a nap, but that's not possible since I'm a robot. Weird, did I run out of energy or something?" A string of words came out of Dodo's mouth, indicating the return of the Dodo we all knew.

"You iron-headed fool. I woke you up with my fist," said Zhang Bao'er as he happily punched Dodo's head with his fist.

"I am a robot that stands firmly against violence. Violence is never the right answer for anything," said Dodo disapprovingly.

"Temo, is this the present you have for us?" I asked.

"This robot has always been yours. It is not a present. Come with me," said Temo as he started walking away.

After going through yet another long corridor flanked by model planets and stars, we entered a small docking bay. There, the air defense drone that had shown us the way earlier awaited. On the small docking bay, an exquisite battleship could be seen.

"Dolby, is the ship model T800 ready?" asked Temo.

The drone called Dolby flashed a green light on its head while swinging its wings around.

Seeing Dolby's reply, Temo nodded in satisfaction. He turned to look at us and said, "Let me introduce you to our latest battleship model T800, Markus."

"What a world we live in. Even an air defense drone is capable of independent thought," said Zhang Bao'er with a sigh.
