Into the Zombie World

Now that Nile had his fill and would no longer need to worry about food for a few days, he now had the time to mull over his current circumstances.

He is now in an unfamiliar world where a zombie apocalypse has occurred for two whole months. He still didn't know how he ended up here, but what he knew was that he accidentally stepped on his own shoelace in the middle of the road, got hit by a truck, and then immediately blacked out.

Well, considering how many trucks and cars there were during that time, he could already guess that he had died.

After waking up, he is now in this unfamiliar world. In the body of someone who was also called 'Nile'. Fortunately, though he inherited some of the previous 'Nile's' memories, he didn't inherit the previous 'Nile's' feelings, especially that of cowardice.

But he did not have the time to think of these before because of his hunger. But now, he feels that this entire situation is just too bizarre. It even feels like a dream!

But, recalling some novels that he has read before, he concluded that what had happened to him was the one what was called 'transmigration', for the others, they got transmigrated into a fantasy world, while he was in a Zombie-filled World.

Hell, the reason that he's hurrying home was also because of his urge to read novels.

That was the exact reason he got to realize that he has transmigrated into this world full of zombies, and was able to act steadily and do what was needed almost instantly. 

This world is also called Earth, but the structures and geography are different.

According to the memory of the previous 'Nile,' this Earth only had one continent called 'Pangea.'

This Pangea continent wasn't a whole big island just like in those science books but actually consisted of multiple islands that formed a circle.

The reason this continent was called Pangea was that there was only one government that managed the whole world, the 'Pangea Government that was situated in the center of all those islands. 

According to the memories of the previous 'Nile,' before the Apocalypse happened, there was a strange virus that was circulating around the world, originating from the center of the Pangea Continent, and afterward, spread like wildfire to its surrounding islands.

This virus literally popped out of thin air. But even so, the government did its best to find a cure. However, the government, instead of curing the infected, made a wrong move. The medicine that was said to cure the infected went wrong and instead caused the Virus to mutate.

The mutation of the virus is actually the real cause of this Zombie Apocalypse.

This mutated virus attacked the brain of the infected, causing them to lose their reason and turn into zombies that would attack any living person they encountered.

If only all of the zombies are just like what Nile had seen outside, the government might not be as helpless as they are now. They have armed forces that can directly eliminate these slow-moving zombies, after all.

But the problem is, there are stronger zombies out there, and the one that is outside is only the most basic one. The stronger ones that 'Nile' saw on the news months ago can even withstand bullets. There is even one that directly destroyed a tank. Maybe these are the real reasons why the previous 'Nile' could only hide in cowardice.

Fortunately, when he just transmigrated, the ones outside his house were the most basic ones. If they were only slightly stronger, Nile would have been done for good.

A month ago, before the News Broadcast got cut off, it was stated that all people of the continent were already considered infected. All of them had been infected by the previous virus before the mutation, after all.

The government also assured the public that the medicine could cure the previous virus that was circulating during that time. However, after the virus mutated, the government stated that it wasn't supposed to happen and that the medicine should have been able to cure the virus.

The reason why all people of the continent were considered infected was due to the fact that the first virus had already infected them all. If the previous virus came into contact with the medicine, it will immediately mutate and attack the brain.

But the variation is the degree that the previous virus has infected a person. For example, if the previous virus only slightly infected you, even if you have consumed the medicine, you will still not lose reason but will only feel a slight pain in your brain.

This was what happened to the previous 'Nile' because he was only slightly infected. Even though he too consumed the medicine, he only felt pain in his brain for a brief period, before it dissipated.

Also, according to the news, those stronger zombies are the zombies who have consumed another zombie's brain.

Those zombies who attacked other zombies are the people who are gravely infected by the previous virus. Their mutation was more potent; making them stronger, more intelligent, and thus able to know that by consuming other zombie's brains, they could mutate further, allowing them to become stronger.

It was also mentioned in the news that zombies who could withstand bullets no longer needed to feed on other zombie's brains. Instead, they would turn their target or prey back to normal living people, just like those most basic zombies that Nile witnessed outside.

The reason for that was still unclear. Just like how the most basic of zombies do not attack other zombies and consume their brain, but only attack other living things instead, it is also unexplainable. Maybe in the future, an explanation will appear, but right now, all the people must focus on surviving first.

But one thing is for sure; those basic zombies could easily infect other people with a bite. Although those bulletproof zombies have not been seen infecting other people, they were instead seen consuming other people's brains.
