Chapter 73: We Got a Lost Child

Chapter 73: We Got a Lost Child

I know it’s a bit sudden, but my dream had come true.

I’ve long since run out of patience and I’ve been researching and researching. Finally, I have perfected it into this black liquid. It was something that every Japanese people should’ve been longing for.

It was, without a doubt, soy sauce.

I even made a soy sauce pitcher with a proper barrier. I also made miso.

All you have to do was grate some of the Daikon-like ingredients from this world. Add soy sauce and vinegar. Squeeze a little bit of citrus fruit to add a little sweetness, and voila, you have Oroshi Ponzu.

After finishing the first day of our exploration assignment, we had a yakiniku party in Professor Tia’s research building.

“It’s so refreshing and delicious!”

“Un, it’s new to me, but it’s good. What’s the theory behind this griddle? It doesn’t seem like you’re using fire magic…”

As usual, Iris was particularly interested in details. I’m going bald at this rate.

“Guys, don’t just eat meat. Eat your vegetables. Nutritional balance is important.”

Why’s Porcos-shi here? You’re not going to be of use, weren’t you?

By the way, Professor Tia was not here. By now–and she’s back.

The door opened with a bang.

“It’s not fair to start before I get there!”

“Welcome back. How did you report to the Dean?”

“You’re the one who put me on the spot because you don’t want to get busted that you’re lying. Now, you’re doing this to me?! I won’t tell you.”

I’m totally bent out of shape.

But well, if Professor Tia came back unscathed. It could be considered as a success. ”There was no such thing as a demon, was there?” It seems that the report of ‘Dufutu’ (translation please) managed to make things okay.

Naturally, all the evidence was erased. There’s not a trace of the monster’s corpse in the house.

“Do you have some meat for me?”

“Come here.”

I pulled a block of meat out from underneath my chair (the mysterious space-time storage that was made to look like that).

It’s high-quality beef from my father’s territory. The marbling was quite good as it was based on the way wagyu was raised.

Lisa cuts up the meat and grills it all over. She was basically a herbivore, so she almost never eats meat. By the way, sweet sweets were becoming her staple food.

“Hahahahaha, mmm! This is not so bad. It’s delicious.”

I think she’s in a better mood now.

“So, how did it go?”

“Hmm? Well, I managed it. She looked at me dubiously, though. I told her that someone was involved in the ruins and that I would investigate it. Then, she agreed.”

“Oh, you said that?”

“If you want people to believe a lie, you have to mix the truth with it in moderation. Well, it’s reasoning-based, so it’s weak if you want to call it weak. In that sense, I don’t know if the investigation can be lax. Maybe we’ll have to do something like that.”

Investigation.

It’s not that I was just devouring grilled meat either. I wanted to finish my exploration as quickly as possible and live my ideal life as a recluse in the academy.

The map of the ruins that Professor Tia brought to us was only the halfway point. I don’t know the deepest part. I don’t even know how far it could go.

However, what she wanted me to do was to ‘Find one of the Seven Holy Weapons that were believed to be in the ruins’ and not to reach the deepest part.

I just have find to a sword, a spear, or armor as soon as possible.

Well, it’s a large area. Therefore, it’s not so easy to find them, but…oh?

“Hm? What’s the matter? Lisa, you can’t eat meat if your eyes are blocked.”

I give her a look and Lisa came around behind Porcos-san and covered her eyes with her hands.

I couldn’t be bothered to explain communication magic or anything to him.

So, he created a plate-like ward in the void and projected the inside of the ruins.

”Professor Tia, what is this?”

“Muguggy…gokun. What is it? Who would have thought it would be a little girl…”

That’s right. A little girl wandering around deep in the ruins. Her age was about seven or eight years old, judging by her appearance.

Brown skin, white hair trimmed at the shoulder. Her red eyes were vacant. The underwear that looks like a tank top in this world was for adults. It’s up to my knees.

I feel like I’ve seen this before, but hmmm…

“Why is there a child in such a place?”

“….lost?”

There’s no way that’s going to happen!

And, Char said, looking at the girl with a serious gaze.

”Could it be the source of all the evil that is being done in the ruins… right…?”

The hollowed-out eyes were shaking. I don’t want it to be, or something like that.

“Let’s check it out for now.”

As I reminded myself, what looked like a sighting mark overlapped the girl on the screen. A line stretched out from there and connected to a square frame. The letters inside the frame are vague and vague.

“Hm, the magic level is 【3】/【6】?”

Professor Tia furrows his brow and continues.

”You only have one attribute. That’s rare for a person to be [Chaos]. The auxiliary attributes are all those with positive effects, seven… How distorted!”

“But in terms of magic level, she’s just a regular guy out there, right?”

“Yeah, I guess so. I don’t think she is strong enough to do anything bad in the ruins. So is it possible that she was kidnapped by the source of all evil and was about to be used in some kind of ritual, then…escaped?”

“What’s the ritual?”

When I asked a simple question.

“To put it bluntly, a ‘Sacrifice’.”

The answer was rather dark and hard to swallow.

“Oh, I fell down.”

The girl slumped down as if she had run out of steam.

“This is bad! We’ve got to get you out of there fast!”

“Who?”

Iris-chan looked at me like, ‘You’re the one’.

Well, I’m going, though.

I got up from the room that I had built in the research building and headed out of my room to the ruins with my “Door to Elsewhere” —

(Note: Totally forgot if it was door to nowhere or elsewhere or did I put something else. My notes are all jumbled up you see.)

And then I brought her back.

She woke up and looked at us, frightened and trembling with fright.

I told her I wasn’t scared – she didn’t even bite me, she just curled up in my lap.

“Can you tell me your name?”

Char called out softly.

“…Meru–…..”

There seemed to be a name to follow, but I couldn’t quite catch it. I’ll call her “Meru” for now.

She must have been really scared. We’ll have to wait until she’s calmed down before we could ask her what’s going on.

Her stomach growled adorably, so we served her some grilled meat–.
