Chapter 531: Void on the horizon
Countless treasures, glinting under the stars' radiance, spilled out, floating slowly before the dragon's golden eyes. Annoyed, he barely had time to bask in his newly gained riches when an urgent call for help echoed through his bloodline. The realization struck him like a bolt of lightning.
'That petty god!'
Without wasting a second, he vanished, reappearing above the white city of the elves. The magic barrier shimmered like a bubble as countless lances of light rained upon it.
Vesuvius knew it would be prudent to retreat with his forces, but he was tired of withdrawing. This time, he would meet the heavenly armies head-on. He spread his wings, his darkness swallowing all the light, except for the ominous dark golden flames burning within the rotating rings of super-accelerated matter around him.
'Gods can't directly enter this world, at least not easily without damaging it.' Even though the god of light wouldn't come, he knew the battle would be tough.
Flashes of light pushed back the darkness, revealing the enormous, inhuman forms of the angels, towering like high-rise buildings in the sky. Five king-level angels, their radiant light shining off their numerous, enormous wings, appeared.
'Mikhail,' Vesuvius recognized the angel leading them immediately. 'This time, there will be no god to help you.'
POV ???:
Countless immortals, adventurers, and elven soldiers stood on the city's walls and tower battlements, their bodies unable to move or even tremble, as more and more forces so terrifying they couldn't even imagine appeared one after another.
Among them stood an elven soldier named Elandril, his heart pounding in his chest. He had seen countless battles, but nothing had prepared him for this.
The sight of the Voidstar Dragon King filled him with fear so intense that it was almost paralyzing. His hands trembled on the hilt of his sword, and his knuckles were white.
'The monstrosity created by the evil elder gods.' He have heard the myths about the dragon.
The dragon of darkness, with the space visibly warping and malforming in the golden star flames around its huge body; and the formation of enormous angels, whose radiance was so blinding, it created ripples on the magic barrier just with its presence.
Hearing a sudden rumbling noise, he looked at the lush greenery outside the city. The ground trembled, enormous fissures radiating crimson demonic light tearing through it. Demons surged out, flapping their wings and rising into the sky like swarms of flies.
With a shake, an enormous clawed hand reached out of the infernal pit, then a second one. An enormous, seven-headed dragon followed, spreading its massive wings as it shot into the sky.
The crimson flames joined the light and darkness.
'Satan.' He recognized the legendary demon dragon before him, his fear making him collapse onto his knees, as before him was an evil incarnate.
Elandril's breath caught in his throat. He felt a sense of awe mixed with overwhelming dread. These beings were beyond his comprehension, their power far exceeding anything he had ever witnessed.
He knew that the battle between them would destroy his entire home, no matter which side would end up as the winner. No matter what would happen, his city and his home would end today.
Another shocking aura appeared—light, black as darkness, manifested; a towering being of flames, darkness, and light flapping its eighteen angel-like wings appeared high in the sky, beside the void dragon and Satan.
'Fuck!' His mind almost broke, the evil-reeking auras were so strong that he felt like a bug facing an elephant's leg, descending onto it.
Then, it was over. Light vanished, the angels were gone, the evil auras now spilling uncontrollably.
'What?! The angels ran away?!'
Elandril's knees buckled, and he collapsed against the battlement. Relief and terror mingled in his mind. The immediate threat was gone, his city would continue to exit, but at the same time, the forces of good have seemingly run away from the evil they were supposed to purge.
POV Vesuvius:
Seeing the angels vanish without a word, Vesuvius didn't feel relief. Instead, an unsettling sensation settled in his stomach. For angels to flee so abruptly, something was terribly amiss.
On the one hand, he was grateful for the unexpected arrival of the demons, surprising him with their readiness to fight at his side when there was nothing to gain.
Yet, on the other hand, he was certain that something far worse was unfolding.
'It is impossible for the god of light to lose that aura so quickly,' he thought, his mind racing. The god of light's aura was a beacon of unwavering power, a constant force. For it to dissipate so suddenly, something catastrophic must have occurred.
POV God of Light:
The being of light stood motionless before the crack of pure darkness seemingly within reality itself. Behind him, there was nothing but endless, yet spaceless void, the crossover energy spreading and eroding everything around. Divine and celestial energies poured out of his outstretched hand into the crack, yet it refused to close.
He, the greatest of all gods, felt dread. The rumors he wished to disregard as false came rushing to his mind. 'Void is back.'
Suddenly, he froze, the sensation of being watched making his eternal light flicker. It was the first time in his reign as the god of light he felt this way, as if facing an absolute power he couldn't defeat no matter what he did. No, he faced nothingness—there was a presence, yet there was nothing within it, no energy, no life, no soul, no power, nothing.
"Who are you? You are not my sibling, yet you behave like a master in their dwelling." A whisper-like voice resounded in the god's mind, his light dimming even further. His vision darkened as if he stared into an endless dark ravine, its bottom nowhere to see.
The god of light faltered, knowing that Void wasn't to be trifled with, the second most mentally unstable, and eldest of the four primordial beings.
