Chapter 159: Stark Expo Opening. 2010 CE
In the evening, Helios and Gwen were driving through a crowded street to a rather spacious place. They were riding a police car, watching as it passed many people that wanted to enter the area.
“Now listen to me, you two.” said the driver, it was a policeman, George. “Gwen, follow Theo to his parents and don’t go anywhere else, just stay with them, understood?”
Gwen rolled her eyes. “Yes dad…”
“Theo, I will trust you just this once, alright son?” George said, looking at the rearview mirror, staring right into Helios’s blue eyes. “Make sure she doesn’t stray away from your dad, the place’s packed, if she gets lost… I will not allow you to visit my house again.”
“Yes…” Helios murmured, thinking that it was Gwen that forced him to go to George’s house, not the other way around…
“Good.” George nodded, before stopping in front of a venue, where a well-dressed man was waiting outside. “We’re here, open the door.”
Helios hummed, and he opened the car’s door, exiting it, with Gwen following him. George opened the car window, and narrowed his eyes.
“Remember, stay close to him.” said George to his daughter.
Gwen nodded, and grabbed Helios’s right arm.
George’s eyebrow twitched. “No, don’t grab his arm.”
Gwen released it, and she grabbed a handful of Helios’s shirt from the side.
“No— you know what? Never mind…” George murmured in dissatisfaction.
A well dressed man that was waiting for someone then approached the two kids. “Master Theo, it seems that you didn’t wear proper clothing…”
“Proper clothing?” Helios questioned. “I thought I was going to sight-see?”
“You’ll be sitting with your father, so you need proper clothin–”
“That won’t be necessary Sean.” a voice sounded, walking towards them. It was Pluto, wearing a black tuxedo, looking like a true dilf.
“Master John?” Sean questioned, confused.
“He’s just a kid Sean, he doesn’t need to deal with all those formalities.” said Pluto casually as he ruffled Helios’s hair. He looked at the car, leaning to the window, and spoke to George.
“Busy night George?” Pluto questioned, making some small talk.
“Very…” George sighed as he massaged his forehead. “This Expo’s a mess… we’re short of manpower right now… A lot of people are working double shifts, including me, so…”
“She’ll be alright George, she’s with me and my son.”
“That’s what I’m worried about…” George murmured. “Anyway, need to go to work again, Gwen, don’t run around okay?”
“I’ll be okay dad…”
Pluto chuckled as he tapped the car. “They’re kids George, you should relax a bit.”
“Yeah, well, me and Helen met when we were ten…”
Pluto shook his head. “Just go, I don’t want you to reminisce in front of me.”
George snorted, and he bolted off, leaving his daughter to the Smiths. Pluto turned around to the kids, and smiled.
“Well, you can do anything you want here, Sean will show you around.”
—
Helios was now walking through the crowd of people with Sean leading him, and Gwen grabbing his shirt by the side so she doesn’t get separated from him.
“Theo, look.” She whispered to him, pointing at an attraction nearby. “Let’s go there.”
“Gweny, we can’t separate from Sean…”
“Come on… I want to go there…” she continued, slowly pulling him away from Sean.
“Gweny… we can’t…”
“Come on… it’s fine!” Gweny finally pulled him away, walking towards the attraction, not caring about Sean at all.
She pulled him towards the attraction. It was a roller coaster ride, with a long line of waiting.
“Let’s go ride this!” Gwen’s eyes seemed filled with excitement.
“Well, we need to wait for a while to be able to ride…”
Gwen seemed down for a second, but her eyes sparkled again. “Do you have a special pass or something?”
“Well, I do… but…”
“Then let’s go!” Gwen then pulled him towards the start of the line, ignoring the stink eyes that people made on the way.
Helios sighed as he saw the stink eyes, and just pulled out his VIP pass. “Can we get on the roller coaster?” he asked the guard.
The guard raised his eyebrow, and looked at the measurer beside him. “Are you tall enough?”
“Tall enough?” Helios questioned. “We have to be tall enough to ride it?”
“Duh…” the guard rolled his eyes and the two then stood beside the measurer. “Seems like you’re tall enough, but you need an adult to accompany you.”
“We don’t have an adult to accompany us though…”
“I’ll do it.” a feminime voice suddenly sounded, making the two kids turn. It was a beautiful Egyptian woman with a wide and enchanting smile that made the guard stutter.
The people on the line also looked at the woman, and they were mesmerised with her beauty. But Helios thought otherwise, he was surprised at the existence of the woman here.
“Sis? What are you doing here?” Helios questioned, curious.
“Hello Theo~” the woman, who was of course Cleo, waved her hand towards Theo. “I’m here for a job… King Grodd’s coming, so…”
“Grodd’s coming?” Helios’s eyes widened. “Cool…”
“Grodd?” Gwen questioned in confusion.
“You know, the ape king?”
“Oh, the big monkey?”
“No… he’s not a monkey… monkeys have tails, Ape doesn’t have tails…”
“I know that…” Gwen murmured bitterly.
“So, you want to ride the roller coaster or not?” Cleo said, with hands on her hips.
“Huh? Sure…” Helios hummed.
Cleo then quickly walked towards the guard, and bought the tickets on the spot. While she’s doing it, Gwen murmurs to Helios.
“You have a sister?” she questioned curiously. “But she looks different…”
“She’s adopted…”
Gwen nodded like she knows what adopted means. “Makes sense… she’s really pretty…”
“Why thank you little girl.” Cleo turned around with a wide smile, making Gwen flinched as she didn’t know the woman could hear her. “Now, come on, let’s go.”
Cleo brought the two kids to the roller coaster, and Cleo sat between them, separating the kids.
As they waited for all the people to sit in the coaster, Cleo asked Gwen besides her, and made sure that Helios wouldn’t hear them.
“So… what’s your name?” Cleo questioned. “How do you know Theo?”
“I’m Gwen.” she said casually. “I met him at school…”
Cleo hummed. “Do you like Theo?”
“Yeah, of course, he’s my friend!”
Cleo’s brow twitched for a second before relaxing again. She smiled, and the roller coaster moved. The kids screamed, Cleo didn’t know if it was fear or excitement, but she enjoyed the ride nonetheless.
On the top of the ride path, they saw as Iron man landed on the pavilion near the coaster, fireworks started to go out, and it was a beautiful and relaxing night, with tons of things to do and explore.
