Chapter 169: Humility and Despair. 2010 CE

[The next day]

Next morning, Thor was already picked up by Erik Selvig and was staying with his team, Jane Foster and Darcy. Thor was now standing in front of a kitchen counter, waiting for the toast to come out of the toaster as he pondered, wondering what will happen next.

What is the lesson that Pluto speaks of? Humility and Despair, what does that even mean? Thor goes through every scenario that he could think of on how Pluto is going to do this.

His thoughts however, were broken down as Jane, a beautiful earthling that Thor had met, touched his shoulder. He turned towards her, only to be greeted by a beautiful smile, to which he smiled back, albeit forcefully.

“You okay?” Jane asked in worry.

“I am fine, Jane.” said Thor, not convincing at all. The toast then came out of the toaster, and he put it on the plates, before giving scrambled eggs on top of it that Jane had just cooked.

As he gave the breakfast to Darcy and Erik Selvig, a knock suddenly sounded from the glass door. Thor turned around, and he saw his friends, the warriors three and Sif, standing outside the door with a wide smile on their faces.

“Found you!” said the biggest warrior of the four.

Thor’s eyes widened as he saw his friends. A million thoughts suddenly came through his mind, scared that if anything happens to them—

The warriors three and Sif entered the place, and they hugged Thor right there and there. Erik’s team however, were mildly surprised, especially Erik himself who dropped his cup of coffee onto the ground.

“M-My friends…” Thor said nervously, softly hugging his friends.

“This is good!” the biggest of the warrior three exclaimed. “We’ve found you!”

“I- I don’t believe it…” Erik murmured.

The red bearded guy looked at Erik. “Oh excuse me. Lady Sif and the Warriors Three.”

As soon as Thor hugged all of them, he stepped back. “My friends… it’s good to see you… but you should not have come…”

“Thor? We’re here to take you home!”

“I know…” Thor nodded weakly. “I heard about what happened in Asgard… but… I cannot go there right now…”

Sif was confused. “Why?”

“There’s…. My uncle…” Thor said, his chest suddenly felt heavy. “He’s… he wants to teach me a lesson… no… you should not be here right now… you’re in danger…”

“Your uncle?” Jane questioned. “You didn’t say anything about your uncle last night…”

Thor looked at Jane, and his face paled as he realised what he had done. “No… I should not… I should not have come back with you, Doctor… I’ve made you a target…”

“A target?” Erik questioned in confusion.

But then, everything stopped. Nothing moved, not even the birds above, not even the SHIELD agents that were watching them, not even the pedestrians that were walking outside, no one moved, except Thor.

“Jane?” Thor questioned in panic as he walked up to her. He touched her cheek, giving it a few slaps, but no reaction. “My friends?” he questioned again, turning to his friend, he gave them a few slaps also, but again, no reaction.

“Uncle!” he shouted desperately. “Please! Not them! Don’t bring them into this!”

Thor then could hear footsteps near him. He instantly turned around, and saw Pluto, fully geared with his Eldritch armour, along with Persephone, hovering near him, pointing at Thor at all times.

Thor tried to walk to Pluto to beg, but he can’t move now. He was trying desperately to move even an inch, relying on his brute strength to fight the force, but ultimately, he failed.

“I told you, didn't I?” stated Pluto calmly. “I was going to teach you a lesson. Humility and despair.”

Thor then suddenly knelt to the ground, like the gravity had just increased ten fold. Thor then watched as Pluto walked towards Jane, which made him pale.

“Uncle please… do not do this…” he pleaded.

Pluto caressed Jane’s frozen cheek. “Who should I take Thor? Jane?” Pluto then continued to walk, towards Sif. “Or Lady Sif?”

“No please…” Thor pleaded again, trying so hard to break free.

“Choose Thor,” said Pluto calmly. “Who will it be? Lady Sif? Or your human friend, Jane Foster?”

“Uncle don’t… I’ve learned my lesson… please… don’t take them…” Thor begged.

“Choose.” said Pluto, his voice as cold as ice. Persephone then floated to Jane, pointing towards her head, and Pluto was grabbing Sif’s head. “Or I’ll kill both of them.”

“No!” Thor shouted desperately.

“Then choose!”

“Okay!” Thor panted. “S-Sif… take Sif…”

Pluto clicked his tongue  a couple of times, showing disappointment. “You chose Jane over Sif Thor? A lady that has been loyal to you since you were a child?”

Thor didn’t answer, he just looked down to the ground, like a puppy being scolded.

“Fine, if you don’t want to answer the question….” Pluto said softly as he walked back to Jane, making Thor panicked. “Then I’ll take Jane instead.”

Pluto then quickly disappeared with Jane, leaving only blue dust around the place, and time went back to normal.

“NOO!!” Thor shouted as he made a run for it, but it was useless. Thor dropped to the ground, punching it repeatedly.

“W-What? What just happened?” Darcy stuttered as she felt dizzy.

“Where’s Jane?” Erik questioned in worry.

Thor then noticed a paper that just fell from the air where Pluto once stood. He took it, it was a makeshift map, with a marker on it, signalling a location of something.

“Thor, where’s Jane?” Erik questioned again.

“H-He took her…” he gulped as he tried to calm himself.

“He? What do you mean he?” Darcy questioned again.

“Thor, what is going on?” the Warriors three questions.

“My uncle… he took her…” Thor repeated again. “I need to get her back…”
