Chapter 307: Arena
Chapter 307: Arena
Li Yao remarked, “What in this world is truly impossible? As long as we’re willing to work for it, we will surely find a way, even though the process might be challenging.”
“Your words are as good as no words at all,” the queen frowned.
Li Yao made a bitter smile, “First of all, you need to understand that creation is the realm of the gods, and not all gods are proficient in it. Mortals attempting to venture into this territory isn’t a taboo to the gods, but rather a violation of the Laws. Naturally, the process won’t be smooth and you might encounter countless failures. I just wanted to prepare the queen psychologically. I know you’re confident, but this matter is different.”
The queen fell into deep thought. It wasn’t that she didn’t comprehend this principle, it’s just that nobody had discussed it with her. Few people knew this secret, and she was wholly immersed in the anticipation of success.
“There’s some wisdom in your words, however, don’t you think if you understand it, I wouldn’t?” the queen retorted coldly.
“Indeed, your majesty is both wise and brave, and certainly understands all,” Li Yao mumbled bitterly in his heart but flattered her openly.
“Hmm, do you know why I summoned you?” the queen changed the topic.
After a moment of thought, Li Yao said, “Apparently, you want me to handle some tasks that others find inconvenient.”
“At least you have some brains. I’ve heard that you formed a small guild, from now on help me with my affairs. You should know, there will be benefits in it for you. However, there’s one thing, don’t reveal that I entrusted these tasks to you. You only need to report to me.”
“I understand.” Li Yao was elated. He hadn’t expected such a good opportunity. This was a great chance for the guild, knowing that these were long-term missions and the queen was known for her generosity, she wouldn’t be stingy.
“We’ll talk about that later. At the moment, there’s something else I need you to do. Consider it a test. If you pass, I shall impart some of my skills to you. Are you willing to accept?” the queen asked.
Li Yao grinned wryly, she was asking him if he accepted the task without even mentioning what it was. Rejecting was out of the question, for it would mean his past efforts were all in vain.
“I shall follow through whatever the Queen commands, even through fire and flames. As for the rewards, even a slight glimpse of something from between your fingers would be an unparalleled treasure to me.” Li Yao chuckled.
“Don’t feed me such lines. If you can’t complete the three trials, don’t bother coming to see me,” the queen stated.
“Please continue, your Highness,” Li Yao said resignedly, feeling exasperated at the mention of the three trials.
“Hmm, your attitude is acceptable.” the queen added, “This first trial is of major importance. This is something you must complete for me. I heard you solved the dilemma at the Abyss temple, being a High Elf and all. Despite our departure, we are still kin. You should be able to travel to Twin Moon Lake and retrieve some of the Sea Blue power-infused water for me. It’s needed here.”
Upon hearing this, Li Yao’s face paled. Twin Moon Lake was located in the Dark Grey Valley, the headquarters of the Light Faction and the Ancient Elves.
It held a lake known as the Twin Moon Lake, said to represent the two moons in the sky.
According to the legend, there were two Moon Gods; one represented the righteous order, the White Moon Lady, revered by the Ancient Elves as the only True Moon God. The other represented darkness and evil, known as Sea Blue, rumored to be a child called the Blue Child.
The Blue Child became known in the Ancient Times when some druids began worshipping the Moon God and accidentally worshipped the blue moon, thus becoming followers of the Blue Child.
This druid was unaware that the Moon God he piously worshipped was not the real Moon God.
The Blue Child bestowed upon him an evil divine artifact, the Scythe of the Moon God.
Through the Scythe of the Moon God, the druid was able to summon werewolves from the void, this was the creation of the Blue Child.
Those bitten by the werewolves swiftly transformed into new werewolves, causing a major disaster for the Ancient Elves.
In the end, all the druids and demigods, even the Moon God himself, had to intervene in order to seal these evil werewolves into the Emerald Dream.
They also sealed the Scythe of the Moon God, and at that time the Moon God Lake appeared, allowing a portion of the Ancient Elves to worship the Blue Child, preventing the recurrence of such a disaster.
In recent times, Grugh had obtained the sealed Scythe of the Moon God, which led to the destruction of a Human Kingdom. This also marked the origin of werewolves in the Light Faction.
Blue Moon Lake Water
Task Description: The Forsaken Queen needs water from the Blue Moon Lake, but it’s inconvenient for her to go in person, so she will appoint someone she trusts to get the water for her ground-breaking experiment.
Task Goal: Obtain a spatial bottle of water from Blue Moon Lake.
Task Rewards: Experience 35, Military Merits 500, Learn Dark Ranger skills.
Task Punishment: Failure will lead to the forfeiture of the Dark Ranger legacy.
Left with no choice, Li Yao had to accept the task. This was a completely forced transaction, with no room for negotiation.
Li Yao was increasingly frustrated. No wonder there were no Dark Rangers in his previous life, and if there were they probably got wiped out because they didn’t complete their perverted tasks.
This task was fraught with difficulties. Firstly, he needed to locate the headquarters, infiltrate it, and deal with the imminent threat of an attack. Then, he had to encounter important figures and only by entering the temple would he be able to draw water from the lake.
The task did offer plenty of experience, generous military merits, and the ability to learn a new skill. The rewards were quite substantial. If he only looked at the rewards, he would definitely classify the task as a top-tier one, but then he read the task details…
If the task was about grinding monsters, defeating bosses, or raiding dungeons, Li Yao would be brimming with confidence. However, for this task, he was unsure. This was a problem that couldn’t be solved with his skills alone.
“What’s the second trial?” mentally prepared, Li Yao asked.
“The second trial should be quite simple for you, the all-camp arena is about to open, you are aware of this, aren’t you?” the queen said.
“I’ve heard some rumors.” Li Yao nodded since he had reached level 15, the arena was about to open. This was a scrimmage competition, a good opportunity to refine his team.
“I can confirm that the arena will open tomorrow night.”
“What do you want me to do?” asked Li Yao spiritlessly, sensing that the queen was about to assign him another unpalatable task.
In the arena, there are individual, two-people, three-people, and five-people combat. Victories secure points while defeats lose points.
Similar to military merit points, there’s a total score. The victor gains points, while the defeated party loses a portion of their points. This score is the standard for rating rank.
There are also activity points, which increase when you win, but won’t decrease if you lose. Those points can be used to exchange various items such as equipment from the arena quartermaster, and even mounts when one has accumulated sufficient points.
“Many leaders will be paying attention to the arena on its first day. You have to save face for me and seize the main stage, acquiring a hundred consecutive victories. Earn the ‘Hundred Slayer’ title.”…
