Chapter 328: Death is the Safest
Chapter 328: Death is the Safest
Seeing that Jin Tian had cast Moon Cage, Li Yao ceased his attack, ready to unleash the next strike at any moment.
Moon Cage could imprison the target or oneself.
However, whether it was used to control oneself or an opponent, those trapped by the Moon Cage would become temporarily invincible, unable to run or attack.
“Werewolf, you are not the infiltrator. Why attack us?” Jin Tian demanded, fury boiling in her voice.
She thought they were being attacked by the wanted players from the Dark Camp. If that were the case, she wouldn’t have a valid argument against it as they were on a manhunt themselves now.
But shockingly, they were attacked by a Werewolf from the Light Faction.
Shrugging, Li Yao said, “You’ve seen something you shouldn’t have. Therefore, I must bid you farewell.”
“Fluctuations of the Power of the Moon!” Jin Tian’s face transformed. She had spotted the bottle and Array behind Li Yao, absorbing the Blue Moon Essence. Exclaiming in surprise, she said, “You’re rather daring, stealing Power of the Moon.”
“Hence, I had to make the first move since there are three of you.” Li Yao chuckled.
Jin Tian remained silent as this information was crucial. It was a considerable feat to leak the news of someone stealing the Power of the Moon.
“I won’t disclose this. Let us go this time. We’re all players working hard to level up. So, how about we look out for each other? What do you say?” Jin Tian wore a sincere smile.
Even though Jin Tian was no unparalleled beauty, she was charming under the moonlight, draped in her Priest Robe.
“I don’t trust you,” Li Yao shook his head.
“I’ll give you this Purple Equipment to express my sincerity,” Jin Tian said, revealing a piece of equipment emitting a purple glow. With a flick of her hand, the purple equipment landed at Li Yao’s feet.
“That’s somewhat sincere.” Li Yao pocketed his bow and arrow and bent over to pick up the item.
“Of course, we can even become friends. Level up together in the future…”
The moment Jin Tian saw Li Yao bending down to pick up the equipment, she dismissed the Moon Cage. Simultaneously, her Magic Wand glowed blue, and she began chanting a prayer.
Moon Punishment!
Thud…
A semi-transparent bullet shot out, landing on Jin Tian’s forehead. Unable to believe it, she became invisible.
Jin Tian’s Magic Wand went out, and as the cast for Moon Punishment was interrupted, the light faded rapidly. With an incredulous look, she glanced at Li Yao, who was standing and smirking at her. She was resentful. Just half a second more, and she could have successfully cast Moon Punishment.
She was confident that if Li Yao received Moon Penalties, she could defeat him with a few instants cast spells, not even giving him a chance to ready his bow and arrow. However, her plan could have potentially succeeded if she was dealing with someone else.
“I still think dead people are the safest.” Li Yao kicked up the equipment onto his hand. Reading its stats, he found it to be a level ten cloth wrist guard with decent attributes, and stored it into his backpack. “So much for trust between people.”
Li Yao sighed as the entrance had been sealed. They wouldn’t be able to resurrect until the entrance was unlocked, ensuring the message wouldn’t leak. The so-called lockdown in the shrine could even block regional channels and private chats, so he didn’t have to worry about confidentiality.
From engaging in friendly conversation to pulling out their weapons against each other, it was all a matter of an instant.
Li Yao’s intention was simple – Regardless of whether or not Jin Tian was telling the truth, she had to die. He was not going to be merciful just because she was attractive.
Thus, her little tricks had no effect on Li Yao.
Jin Tian’s plan was also straightforward – it would be better if he fell for her deception, but if not, it wouldn’t be a problem. With the damage reduction of Moon Shadow, she believed that despite Li Yao’s significant damage, he could not kill her who was protected by a Magic Shield.
As long as she was alive and Moon Punishment hit the target, she could instantly kill him.
Little did she know, Li Yao intended to kill her from the very beginning and was not fooled by her. Also, he happened to have a handgun.
Ghost Strike could bypass the target in front and directly affect the target behind, nullifying the effect of Moon Shadow. Consequently, Jin Tian, being too vulnerable, was instantly killed by Li Yao.
“Young girls these days are so unreliable,” Li Yao chuckled, walking over to her corpse. He bent down to pick up her fallen Purple Staff and said, “Your trick was quite clever. And your equipment is not bad either. You have potential.”
Li Yao then unhesitatingly looted the equipment from the other two. Identifying them as blue class items, he tossed them into the lake. His backpack had capacity limits and couldn’t accommodate trash equipment. The night was still long.
What Li Yao didn’t know was that Jin Tian, currently in the graveyard, was complaining, “Damn him. How could he be so cruel to a flower like me?”
The other two men exchanged glances and broke into guffaws.
“Laugh all you want. Let’s log off. We won’t be able to resurrect now. Hell, he better not let me run into him.” Jin Tian, enraged, realized she had been played.
“Did you run a scan on him? What’s the result?” Ming Tian enquired.
“The Princess-saving Mario, profession Hunter, race Werewolf. The next time I get a chance, I’m definitely going to get him back. He got my staff, which took me two days to acquire.” After saying this, Jin Tian logged off seething with rage.
“Brother, it was rough for you. You should go receive your domestic punishment,” Zuótiān mischievously logged off.
Ming Tian logged off with a gloomy face as the Mother Tiger began her rampage.
Unaware of these developments, Li Yao went back to his original spot. However, less than half an hour later, the light of the magics circle had disappeared. When Li Yao checked, he found that the surrounding lake no longer exhibited any fluctuations of the Power of the Moon.
“Damn it, I’ve only collected one-fifth of it.”
However, despite his complaining, he still had work to do. He once again used Sonar Arrow to scout ahead. After advancing a considerable distance and avoiding several waves of players looking for the fugitive, he positioned the stand once more.
Having nothing to do, Li Yao waited while continuously using Sonar Arrow to detect any potential threats due to his current unique situation. He also sensed something was off.
Although he still had plenty of hit points, his defense was noticeably insufficient. If 2-3 players targeted him, he would be in trouble. Most elite players were now fairly proficient in several skills and posed a significant threat to him.
However, unbeknownst to Li Yao, leaning on a tree merely a few meters away from him was a figure who was so well-blended with the tree that she seemed a part of it. Her clear eyes were watching Li Yao release the invisible Sonar Arrows.
She was too cautious, maintaining her stillness and blending in with the tree perfectly. Despite Li Yao examining the tree several times and firing his Sonar Arrows, he found nothing.
Li Yao felt some unease, as though he was being watched. However, despite multiple inspections, he found nothing. As he was about to check the top of the tree, he suddenly became aware of the approaching presence of two more players…
