Chapter 88: Monster House

Chapter 88: Monster House

As the largest source of Twilight City’s income, the excavation project on the Dusk Quarry was of a very high calibre.

Although the third level of the quarry was deserted, it was much wider than previous levels and even had numerous magical lamps lighting it up on both sides of the walls. The monsters on this floor were freely moving around under the light.

Keeping his torch, Wang Yu continued walking in while looking at his surroundings.

HP: 10000

MP: 0

Skills: [Corpse Poison]

HP: 10000

MP: 1000

Skills: [Corpse Poison], [Whip]

[Corpse Poison] in particular was a very vicious skill that would cause the target’s health to constantly drop every second while decreasing the movement speed of the target. Fortunately, Wang Yu’s Dexterity was very high so he was able to evade the attacks of all the monsters.

[Whip] on the other hand was more of an annoyance than anything else since it had the ability to lock on and chase the target...

In <>, skills that could lock on to the opponent weren’t that rare. [Fireball] and [Homing Arrow] were examples of this. Although ranged skills like these were common, this was the first time that Wang Yu had seen a melee skill that could lock on as well.

Although the skills of these monsters were difficult to deal with, they were still just monsters in the end. Along the way, Wang Yu continuously avoided all the monsters he could while killing those he couldn’t. Within a few moments, Wang Yu reached the end of the third level.

Based on the map, Wang Yu still had roughly ten more meters before reaching the fourth level.

The area he was in now didn’t have any magic lamps so Wang Yu had no choice but to take the torch out again. Looking around, Wang Yu found the anvil that Simba had used many years ago to ascend to the level of Divine Smith.

Lifting the torch higher, Wang Yu took a better look at the area and realised that aside from the rusted anvil, there was no hammer to be seen anywhere.

"It’s not here... Maybe it’s on the wall?" Frowning slightly, Wang Yu stood up and raised the torch towards a nearby wall. When the light hit the wall, Wang Yu quivered in shock...

On the opposite wall, there was a two meter corpse being held up by four massive black chains. The corpse’s four limbs had a black glow around them which gave it an aura of immense strength. Its eyes had long since rotted away and its canines were grossly overgrown. Overall, its appearance was closer to a zombie than an actual corpse.

At the location where its heart was supposed to be, was a hammer embedded in its chest.

"Ha ha! So that’s where you were!" Wang Yu gleefully laughed as he reached forward and pulled the hammer out of its chest.

"Ding..."

Just as Wang Yu retrieved the hammer, the sound of a bell ringing reverberated through the cave as the walls began shaking.

What was even more surprising, was that the corpse started moving as well!

"I knew it wouldn’t be so easy!" Wang Yu cursed as he shoved Thunderclap into his bag and ran towards the exit.

The Zombie King was a Strength type boss and a very large one at that. If Wang Yu were to fight it in such a small area, then it would be extremely difficult to dodge.

"Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!"

With four loud explosions, the Zombie King tore the four chains out of the wall.

What kind of strength was this? Those chains couldn’t hold it back at all! Wang Yu silently thought to himself.

"Roar!!!!!!!"

After escaping the chains, the Zombie King angrily roared as it ran straight towards Wang Yu.

Looking at Zombie King’s speed, Wang Yu heaved a sigh of relief. With that kind speed then there was nothing for him to worry about.

HP: 300000

MP: 5000

Skills: [Vigourous Charge], [Zombie Call], [Stone Gaze]

"Filthy Human this is the punishment for your greed!!" This boss really was something else. It had rotted to this stage and it could still talk.

Right as it finished speaking, the Zombie King’s body glowed with a dark light and it raised its arms and swung the chain at Wang Yu.

Wang Yu lightly chuckled when he saw the attack. Though it was much faster than then the other attacks of the Zombie King, it was still nothing for him. Suddenly Wang Yu felt his body sink as his speed greatly fell.

"Poison!!"

Turning around, Wang Yu realised that all the monsters in the level were rushing towards him like a tidal wave.

This really was too much! Could the boss still call over all these monsters to fight him? Wang Yu dejectedly stared at the Zombie King again before turning around and running away.

Right now, there were more than a hundred monsters attacking Wang Yu. If all they did was slow him down with their poison then Wang Yu could still deal with it. However, the Zombie Foreman still had it’s [Whip] which Wang Yu couldn’t dodge at all.

Wang Yu was only level 18 right now so he was nothing in the eyes of the entire zombie hoard. With so many of them around using [Whip], even though Wang Yu was the highest level player, his over eight hundred health would be gone in a few seconds.

The Zombie King seemingly knew what Wang Yu was thinking and roared again, causing the Zombie Foremen and Head Miners to rush towards the exit to block it.

When Wang Yu reached the exit, it had been completely sealed off by the monsters.

With more than a hundred zombies roaring, the sound they produced was very loud.

The Peerless Heaven players on the second level could hear these roars and all thought: "What the hell did that guy do now? Why’s it so noisy down there?"

As these players were deep in thought, a bright radiance flashed and Wang Yu appeared next to them, startling the crowd. He created such a huge commotion and then just ran away? This guy really knew how to run...

"Quickly run away! The boss is coming!" Wang Yu hurriedly shouted when he landed on the ground.

As a martial artist, Wang Yu had a very strong moral compass. He would never let other suffer because of a mistake he made.

"Boss? There’s a boss? Quickly call the rest!"

These players weren’t as simple as they looked... Bosses that spawned in the wild were very rare. This bastard managed to find one and he was trying to scare them away so that he could monopolise it? How shameless could this guy get?

Giving Wang Yu a dirty look, the miners started frantically messaging in the guild chat.

"Big Brother Thunder, are you coming back soon? There’s a boss here!"

"A boss? That’s great! I’m almost at the entrance now, watch it for me!"

Big Brother Thunder’s full name was Unstoppable Thunder and was the Warrior that Wang Yu had killed in two attacks earlier.

Even though Peerless Heaven didn’t have any territory in Twilight City, it was still a large guild. Being suddenly killed by an unknown player had greatly enraged Unstoppable Thunder. After reviving, he had immediately sent out a message and gathered a large group of players with the intention of seeking revenge. Who would have thought that a boss would coincidentally appear when they were about to reach?

During the time that Wang Yu was trying to clear the other players away, the Zombie King had climbed its way to the second level and angrily roared.

"What a bother..." Wang Yu rubbed his ears and started running towards the first level. However, just as he was about to reach the first level he heard a very familiar arrogant voice.

"Our Peerless Heaven players are about to slay a boss! All of you trash better get out of the way now you hear me?"
