Chapter 922: Visiting the Spearman Guild

Though Noel had mentioned before they left the inn that he'd be treating him to breakfast, Valyr had no thoughts of making use of the opportunity to eat his fill and some more.

Instead, due to how the old man acted when he met him, he surprisingly ate less this time around, wanting nothing more than to head to the Spearman Guild as soon as possible.

Of course, it did not take much figuring out for him to understand why Noel was acting like that, considering how he'd ignored the old man's wishes of heading to the Spearman Guild as soon as possible all this time.

'If I wasn't busy forging weapons in the Blacksmith Guild to contribute to the quota, I was working on improving my proficiency with the Truth Weaver Scripture,' thought Valyr to himself, feeling a bit of guilt for only meeting Noel over three weeks after he'd left the inheritance.

On top of that, it wasn't out of his own accord that he met the man.

Noel had been the one to take the initiative to meet him in person.

With that, the young man did not entertain thoughts of stuffing himself silly, instead choosing to converse with Noel whenever the latter struck up a topic.

Unsurprisingly, their conversation revolved over his time in the inheritance, as well as the things he'd experienced and gained during that time.

Having already said similar things to Julian before, Valyr more or less gave Noel similar information, omitting many of the things he'd experienced in the inheritance that didn't have any business being known by anyone aside from him.

Of course, when the young man had brought up the fact that he'd gained access to Azure Energy in the inheritance, Noel's eyes briefly glistened with curiosity, thinking about the thoughts that lingered in his mind the previous night.

However, as they were outside, the old man restrained himself, choosing to talk about what he was doing for the past nine months Valyr was in the inheritance.

As he was one of the elders of the more prominent combat class guilds in Veldanyr, it went without saying that the man had participated in the frontlines around the time the skirmish between the two races had erupted into a full-on war.

Though, after contributing greatly in the first few battles, Noel eventually realized that he wasn't really suited to fight in the frontlines.

Instead, he thought that it was better for him to instruct recruits on how to wield the spear properly, allowing their strength to be magnified on the battlefield.

Naturally, many of Noel's peers were skeptical of his decision at first.

But, as more and more of Noel's recruits participated in the battlefield, many of them began to agree that Noel had made the right decision, allowing him to support humanity during the war in his own way.

Seeing that Valyr had seemingly lost the appetite for breakfast at the end of his conversation, a faint smile tugged on Noel's lips as he looked at him in the eye. "Shall we head to the guild, then?"

At those words, the young man nodded, causing the smile on Noel's lips to widen as they left the eatery.

With their empowered physiques and movement skills, it only took a few minutes for the two to arrive at the Spearman Guild, with Noel immediately requesting a training ground the moment they went through the entrance.

Fortunately, he had given many of the staff members and other high-ranking personnel in the guild a heads-up the previous night, causing the allocation of the training ground to not take that long.

Seeing the issue with the training ground be resolved in a matter of minutes, Noel nodded in satisfaction as he urged Valyr to follow him. "Come with me."

In response, the young man did what he was told. Though, he found it peculiar that Noel's request was completed in such a short amount of time.

'Even the simplest among Julian's requests would probably take more time than that,'

thought Valyr to himself, deciding to not mull over the matter any further.

'In any case, I guess I should mentally prepare myself for what's to come.'

...

Arriving at one of the Spearman Guild's larger training grounds, Noel told Valyr that they'd be doing a bit of sparring to see how much he improved.

Of course, the young man had already expected something like that with everything that went on, prompting him to ask whether he needed to choose a weapon from the training rack. Surprisingly, Noel shook his head in response, telling him that the goal of the spar was to find out his actual level of strength.

"Call it a preliminary test of sorts to find out where you'd be placed in the war," said the man, causing Valyr to be slightly confused before eventually nodding in response.

'Though he says that, I can't be sure whether that's true or not,' thought the young man to himself, distancing himself far enough from Noel as each of them made their preparations for

the spar.

'After all, he'd made no mention of having me participate in the war earlier, nor in the messages I got him,' inwardly muttered Valyr to himself, retrieving the spear from his back as he heard Noel shout that the spar had begun.

Feeling the curse taking effect as his strength was gradually being siphoned, Valyr immediately activated a couple of stat-boosting buffs in succession, heading straight for where Noel stood.

"[Limit Break: Second Verse]!"

"[First Encore]!"

"[Azure Dragon Movement Arts]..."

"[Flash of the Azure Dragon]!"

Whoosh!

Moving through the ground at breakneck speeds, it did not take long for the gap between Valyr and Noel to narrow.

Seeing how fast the young man was moving, Noel's eyes slightly widened in surprise, not expecting him to improve so much while in the inheritance.

Nevertheless, that great improvement more than spurred his true emotions to come out, causing his aura to billow out in its entirety as he brandished his spear.

"You damned brat, you should've come to the guild the moment I told you to go!"

With those words, Noel channeled his Abyssal Energy, condensing it around the tip of his

spear before swinging it upward.

"[Abyssal Serpent Style]..."

"[Tide of the Endless Night]!"

Swoosh!

Seeing the old man conjure a move from before he'd even ascended to Rank 2, Valyr let out a peal of laughter as he started to circulate Azure Energy around his body.

At the same time, he employed the Truth Weaver Scripture to work, immediately achieving Tetrad as he set his Intent of Shadow Energy as the skill's main focus.

Watching the wave of pure void continue to grow in size before him, Valyr eventually stopped closing the distance between the two of them, instead transferring the momentum into his

spear as he swung it upward.

"[Four Paths Azure Spear Art]..."

"[Stampede of the Azure Tiger]!"

Bang!
