87 Chapter 0087
Everything will be alright!
"Uh, do I really have to wear this?"
I asked as I uncomfortably twitched inside the black and white suit. It was a mediaeval style suit with a loose white shirt and embroidered long golden coat with tight fitting. The collars were long, which made my neck itch.
I looked at myself in the mirror and couldn't help but feel that I looked extremely charming. I looked like an elegant demon who had come out of hell to seduce people.
~~Hmm, I have to agree. Even Lucifer would have to bow his head in shame if he saw your devilish handsomeness.~~
Song, who had been quiet these days due to his new nickname, spoke for the first time in a while, his voice filled with seriousness.
'Ha…haha, tell me that the part about Lucifer was just an expression.'
I asked with my smile twitching on my face.
~~What expression? I've seen him personally. I am pretty confident in my memory. I tell you, you definitely look better than him!~~
'That's not the point…'
Even Lucifer existed in Mayhem! That means there was also hell.
[Congratulations! You're the second player to discover the hidden piece of the Mayhem!]
[Insight +5]
"....."
Someone already seemed to know about hell even before me. For some reason, that made me happy.
'What is a game if there is no competition?'
I was happy that I wasn't the only one getting all the firsts of the game.
"You look absolutely noble, my lord."
Joseph said as he looked at me from top to bottom. I thought this bespectacled elegant-looking guy was here to just teach me etiquettes. Turns out etiquette started with one's clothes itself.
"Do you remember everything I taught you, my lord?"
Joseph asked respectfully, his head slightly bowed.
"Yeah… most of it."
"....that should suffice. I'll be taking my leave then. Please call upon me if you need help with anything."
Joseph bowed, and I nodded, giving him permission to leave and then fell back on my bed.
"Fuck, being a noble is so tiring."
I let out a long breath. To think that I hadn't even gone out to the function yet.
`You should really get used to this. If you don't want to be forever stuck in the central continent, you should at least get used to this much. Outside the central continent, apart from the western continent, which is a lawless zone, you'd need these etiquettes to be able to communicate with people on a par.`
Prolus said seriously. Even though he had died young, he was still one of the best Magi in the world. He had seen and read about lots of things in the world.
"Yeah, yeah. Stop acting like an oldie. I am already missing the kid Prolus."
`I was never a kid. To be honest, I was born an adult.`
Prolus coldly snorted, and I couldn't help but laugh.
Evening.
I was still inside my room, browsing through the internet and some books from Harold's library. It was such a creepy yet amazing thing that every small book had a story, philosophy, or literature about something ingrained in it. There were Architectural books, history books, novels, books on magic analysis, books on politics, and so on and so forth.
I couldn't help but think about how all these books came into existence, as these were books that had never existed in the world before.
'Who the fuck even made such monstrous supercomputers?'
I couldn't help but wonder.
There was information regarding how Terry Corbyn, the head of Kibea Corporation, had his dream achieved via the supercomputers. But it was never mentioned as to who programmed these computers in such a way that they ended up creating a whole world on their own.
'I just hope they don't suddenly feel like making a lot of robots and taking over humanity.'
I chuckled, thinking that.
—Knock! Knock!
"My lord, the duke wishes to see you."
I heard a knock on the door and the duke's personal knight's voice.
"I'll be there. You can go ahead. No need to escort me. Oh, yes. Please send Gomchul if you find him."
"As you command, my lord."
And just like that, the knight left, and I stood up from the bed after laying there for so long.
—-Yawn!
I stretched a bit and looked back at my tail.
"It's really inconvenient while sleeping."
I wanted to somehow get a transformation skill or a disguise skill to get rid of the tail at times like this.
"Well, I guess I'll learn it if I keep eating. I should search for a monster who has a good disguise skill."
I commented and looked at my metamorphosis index.
[Metamorphosis Lv 2 Index: (3%----------100%)]
Just because I was curious as to how I was supposed to eat a monster that had no physical body, like a vengeful spirit, I ended up consuming the low-grade soul stone that I had refined from the vengeful spirit. To my surprise, even eating a soul stone refined from a monster can be considered an intake for the metamorphosis skill.
Although, after eating just about a dozen of the soul stones, the metamorphosis index stopped moving.
`I still don't understand how you got the guts to eat stone. I guess you have really turned into a monster.`
'C'mon, it wasn't that bad. I just gulped it all down. It was small anyways.'
Prolus commented sarcastically, and I retorted. It seems like every time I evolve. I also have to evolve the type of monsters that I eat. Otherwise, it has no effect on the metamorphosis skill.
I had already tested it by eating monsters lower in level than me. The metamorphosis index didn't budge at all.
—-Knock! Knock!
"My liege, it's me."
Gomchul knocked on the door and informed me of his arrival. His sudden change in attitude was weird, but I didn't bother much about it. Maybe this was the norm for all personal knights?
I went ahead and opened the door and couldn't help but be surprised.
Orcs were known as a crude race. They didn't even have good weapons due to their crudeness. But right now, in front of me stood an orc in a black tuxedo, wearing a bow tie and white white and black pants to compliment his overall look.
I had told Harold that Gomchul had also become my personal knight apart from being my friend, and although it was uncommon, it wasn't unheard of to take orcs and ogres as one's personal knight. Harold had told me not to worry and that he'd allocate someone to take care of Gomchul for the function.
"You look dashing!"
"I truly look the best that I have ever looked. I am sure Kyra would fall for me if she saw me right now. It's a pity, though."
Gomchul sighed regretfully. It was understandable since his Kyra had fallen for Zultan. However, she regretted it because he was too small.
"Don't worry, man. Why are you still thinking about her? I'm sure the princess of the noble orc tribe from the eastern continent would fall for you if you put in some effort!"
"Really, my lord? I will make sure I grow stronger then!"
Gomchul said with motivation. However, I wasn't sure if there was a noble orc tribe on the eastern continent since it was still not open to anyone. But I had finally gotten a glimpse as to what Mayhem had to offer apart from the central continent after going through Harold's library.
"Let's go. It's already time for the function. Everyone must have gathered."
I was nervous about this whole engagement ordeal because of the things I had heard. There would be at least two or more princes and princesses of the Sahhan empire attending the function, and all of them were big shots in the game. To think that such NPCs would be moving because a measly me was having an engagement.
'Harold sure has a high standing.'
Of course, I wasn't complacent enough to think that they were coming for me. It was due to it being the engagement of the proud duke of the Sahhan empire that many people would come to show face to the duke. Although I was sure I was also a part of the reason they would come. After all, even without wanting to stand out, I had become renowned by every major character, thanks to the system messages.
'Everything will be alright!'
I consoled myself and walked out of the room towards the main hall.
The hall was beautifully decorated in a red and white theme, with more white than red. There were flowers decorating every pillar and bouquet in the hands of the guests. As soon as I entered the hall, all the eyes fell on me.
To be exact, they fell on my tails and horns. From head to toe, I looked like a demon. Although demons were still accepted in society, the bad name that they had from the past wasn't cleared for everyone yet.
But after looking at my face and my dress, most of the guests couldn't help but smile warmly.
Most, except for a certain someone who was blatantly glaring at me in disgust.
I looked at that person's name tag and couldn't help but smile awkwardly.
[Lorcan Asquith Sahhan]
Fuck! What did I do to offend a royal?
I cleared my throat and awkwardly avoided the blatant gaze of that Lorcan guy.
"Shura! Come here, come here. Haha! Everyone, meet my future son-in-law, Shura!"
Harold invited me towards where he was talking to a few guests and then loudly announced.
—-Tsk!
Lorcan clicked his tongue, expressing his displeasure blatantly.
'For fucks sake, what did I ever do to you?'
