Chapter 207 207. The Ballroom.
Chapter 207 207. The Ballroom.
And it just so happened to be that Ned Baratheon was currently staring at Kevin from a window on the top floor of the mansion.
Kevin suddenly stopped just before he stepped into the large ballroom in front of him. He lifted his gaze and turned towards Ned Baratheon who was staring back at him from the top floor.
Kevin nodded his head slightly and accompanied it with a smile. Meanwhile, Ned Baratheon's eyes widened in surprise at how Kevin could even see him when the window was at least a hundred meters away from where Kevin stood.
Mr Ned Baratheon was one of the three most influential men to ever step foot in Ruby City. He owned several business franchises with a total net worth that was in the billions and he also had a hand in basically every transaction happening in the City at any point in time.
He had seen and transacted with every business guru under the sun but not once had he seen or heard of this young man.
This Kevin Lannister that suddenly popped out of nowhere and became one of the major players within a month made him curious.
Even though he bore a name that was similar to a few Lannisters living in the city, Mr Ned Baratheon was certain that he had seen and met every one of them who was involved in business.
So who exactly was this young man?
"Who is Kevin Lannister?"
A man walked out of the darkness from behind Ned Baratheon. He was wearing a black suit and holding a tablet in his hand. This was Mr Ned Baratheon's personal assistant and bodyguard, Cyanide.
He was also the chief commanding officer for Baratheon Limited, Mr Ned's major company and also the parent company of Dynamo Bottling Company.
"He is a student who, rather than sit at home and wait for his school to ask every student to resume, chose to venture into the business world on his own. He started off by studying a trading course online and within a month, he was worth a hundred million dollars."
"Impressive. Does this mean he was studying for a business major in the university?"
"No sir. But after a thorough investigation of his background, it was discovered he was actually studying pharmacy at the Premiere University of Emerald City before opting to try his hands on something new."
"Hmm, something new you say. So what else did you find out after a thorough investigation on his background? Is he related to any of the Lannisters I know?"
"Yes sir."
"Oh really?" Ned Baratheon turned around with a smile on his face. "Which one of them?"
"He is the son of the previous CEO of Maxflix."
"How Interesting," Ned Baratheon chuckled to himself.
"Has he visited his father ever since Max made an announcement to the press?"
"Yes, he has. But it doesn't seem like he noticed anything else because their relationship remained the way it was before Max went into a coma, so you have nothing to worry about, but if he begins to suspect something, I'll handle it before it becomes a problem."
Ned Baratheon chuckled once again after listening to what Cyanide had to say. This was the reason why he trusted Cyanide with his life.
Most people would have opted to have the most talented person as their head of security and welfare, but Mr Ned Baratheon was different.
He picked Cyanide from the street as a boy and trained him to be an irreplaceable killer. If Cyanide said he would handle a problem, then there wasn't any need for Ned to be worried.
"So the son isn't pleased with someone else claiming his father's company and has instead decided to claim it back. Let's see how determined he is," Ned Baratheon muttered to himself while walking towards the exit of the room.
"The auction is about to begin, let's go greet our guests," Ned Baratheon walked out of the room with Cyanide following him from behind as they both left the room.

Kevin glanced around at all the proud people in the hall and it didn't take too long before he became bored. He still hadn't met the people he came here to see and he was becoming increasingly impatient.
Both the president of Baratheon. Limited and Dynamo Bottling Company were yet to step into the hall, and now Kevin had to endure the constant efforts of some married women who were trying to have a dance with him.
While most of them weren't to his taste, he couldn't deny the fact that a few of them had their charms and were impressively bountiful as well, but their attitude wasn't something to write home about.
These women did not have the slightest hint of how to talk to normal people. They felt like the world belonged to them and weren't shy to compliment or insult every man and woman around them. This made Kevin even more uninterested in acquainting himself with them.

Just when Kevin was about to leave the hall to get a bit of fresh air, Mr Ned Baratheon finally emerged from the place he had been hiding within the shadows of the stairway and greeted the crowd.
At first, they were startled by how he suddenly appeared out of nowhere like a phantom, but once they recognized whose voice it was, everyone put their minds in a calm state once again as they listened to what he had to say.
As he walked down the stairway, his wife and son trailed behind as well.
"Ladies and gentlemen. I thank you all for gracing us today with your presence. It is not every day we get to meet like this, but I want you to enjoy yourselves to the fullest, for the auction will commence shortly."
