My Goalkeeping System

Chapter 354 Not This Way

'That's two goals from Mateo, Catherine, and that means that my prediction was spot on.' Dave said subconsciously with a bright smile on his face.

<Yeah, surprisingly>

<You should really start putting those stat points to use, you'll regret it if you guys end up blowing this lead just because you weren't fast enough to stop a shot>

'That's not going to happen, fine, I'll add some dexterity.'

<Your main concern has always been speed>

The match continued with Supreme United trying anything they could to try and get back in the game, but nothing was working for them so far.

They were doing quite well in keeping the ball away from Unique FC players, but their passes weren't clicking that well, in short, they were starting to look a bit lackluster.

"Supreme United had won most if not all of their matches till this point comfortably, but it looks like they've finally met their match today, and that's quite ironic considering what they did to Unique FC last season." Jim expressed.

"Yeah, Unique FC is a totally different team now."

Zen received the ball from Foden and moved further down the wing with it before he turned and sent it back to Foden.

"Back to Foden."

Foden paused for a while because he didn't know exactly what to do with the ball as all his teammates who were forward were being marked, but the sight of Martinez quickly heading toward him was enough to force him to turn and send the ball rolling to Pelcao.

Pelcao caught hold of the ball, and just before Minino could get to him, he passed the ball to Carlos who seemed to have drawn back a little to get out of Norman's pocket and receive the ball.

Carlos received the ball and quickly tried to dribble past Norman, but that attempt failed although he was able to avoid losing possession and quickly sent it rolling to Roland who quickly passed it to Roland before running into the box.

"Back to Foden, looks like Supreme United are cooking something, what does Unique FC have to say about that?"

Foden found Diego down the right wing and quickly lobbed the ball over to him.

The winger brought the ball down with his chest and was able to strike it with his right foot when the ball was quickly taken off his feet with a neat tackle from Roland.

The ball was sent rolling into the box as Dave quickly rushed toward it and grabbed it.

"Nicely done by Roland, and Dave is there to pick it up."

This was one of those moments Dave loved so much, a moment to strike them when they still had most of their forces on their side.

He quickly threw the ball up and sent it flying toward Carlos on the right wing as he seemed to be the closest to Supreme United's goalpost.

The winger brought the ball down with his right foot and quickly zoomed off down the wing with the other players quickly closing up on him from behind and three of the defenders in front of him slowly retreating to avoid making any mistakes.

Two of the defenders quickly blocked his path, but that was a mistake, a mistake that gave Mateo the opportunity to get into a good position on the left wing.

Carlos didn't hesitate to send the ball over to Mateo but the last defender seemed to have predicted that move as he quickly rushed and raised his right foot toward the ball to try and stop Mateo from getting to the ball, but still, Mateo was able to get to the ball first with his head, and it wasn't exactly what he wanted to do, but he ended up nodding it toward Ferran right outside the box with the goalkeeper being the only one standing in his way.

"Oh, my goodness, this could be another one!"

Ferran had a lot of players right behind him but his focus was on the goalpost as he pulled his food back and sent the ball flying toward the goalpost.

He seemed to have struck the ball with his side foot and that was where the trouble came as the ball was sent flying toward the far right side of the goalpost until it hit the post and rolled out for a goal kick.

Perez chased it of course, but it was out of instinct as a goalkeeper as there was really no need.

"Oh, they could have gone three goals up just, a terrible miss from Ferran," Jim commented.

"A very terrible miss, that's certainly getting added to the top five worst miss of the season."

Ferran bit his lower lip in anguish as he slapped his palm into his face, even he couldn't believe how he missed that.

There was no reason to dwell on it so far as play had to continue now that Perez was about to send out the ball.

Perez dropped the ball at the edge of the box inside the eighteen-yard box and observed the area for a while before he sent the ball flying out.

As soon as the ball was sent out, Mateo turned and began to head toward his goalpost, but just after taking a few steps, he suddenly crashed to the floor.

"Oh, it looks like Mateo Smith's suddenly fallen to the floor," Jim said.

The referee had to stop the game for now as the medical team quickly rushed over to see what was wrong with him.

"We didn't see this and it wasn't even reviewed, but it turns out when Conan tried to stop the ball from getting to him earlier, he seemed to have hit the winger's head with his foot." Jim expressed.

"I don't think anyone would know, because he didn't even act like anything happened, but now he is starting to feel the effects," Steve said.

After a few minutes on the floor, Mateo was able to get up on his feet again with the help of one of the medical staff and it looked like he was going to continue.

"Something the fans are quite happy about, looks like Mateo will be able to continue," Jim said.

The fans were all happy to see Mateo get up on his feet, none of them would be able to bear seeing him leave the pitch when there was still a lot of time left in the match.

"That's a relief," Dave said before letting out a sigh.

<Yeah, he's the main man in terms of goal creation, things would get tough if he leaves>

'Yeah, but that's a shame since he will be leaving the club at the end of the season.'

The match had just ended the sixty-fifth minute now and so far there had been no change in the scoreline but managers seemed to have brought on some fresh legs on the pitch.

Norman made two changes while Supreme United's manager made only one.

Norman had decided to give Gregory his league debut in this match and so the young striker came on to replace Fred, the second player that was replaced was Norman Kole who had to leave the pitch for Luis Roberto to take over.

The change Supreme United's manager made was removing Carlos and putting in their newly signed left back, a twenty-seven year old who just joined their club from Tottenham Hotspur, Jan Pierre."

Supreme United were the ones with the ball now after a goal attempt from Mateo was sent flying over the bar.

The home side were passing the ball around quite well now, unlike when they looked quite overwhelmed.

Their play style seemed to be calm and collective now.

Zen received the ball from one of the defenders and moved a little forward to it before he passed it to Foden the closest person to him.

Foden wasn't looking for any short passes and immediately sent the ball rolling toward Diego.

"Diego."

Diego quickly moved back with the ball before Roland could get to him.

He moved a little closer to the center before passing the ball to Roland who Adolf was heading toward at that time.

Roland got hold of the ball, and just before Adolf could get to him, he sent the ball rolling to Jan.

The winger didn't even stop for a second after getting the ball as he quickly drilled the ball past Luis with a snake bite.

"Oh, my."

He was in a good shooting position, and he didn't hesitate to take his chance as he fired the ball toward the goalpost with a powerful shot.

The shot didn't have any elevation and so Dave was able to block it with his leg, but the ball was still in the area.

Roland quickly rushed toward the ball to send it into the goalpost but Adolf was right there to brush it off his path and send it rolling toward Luis.

The wingback knew what he had to do as he quickly kicked the ball with the intention of sending it far away from the box, but his shot's elevation wasn't that much as the ball ended up hitting Pirlo before falling into the goalpost from the right side while Dave was still on the floor.

"Oh, dear, it's an own goal, Supreme United have one back."

"Not this way," Dave said with a sigh before falling into the goalpost.
