My Journey to Godhood as a Caterpillar

Chapter 3: One plan to eat a corpse

Chapter 3: One plan to eat a corpse

After the apprentice duo finished their 'business' I decided to leave my nest after I heard no more sounds, I crawled outside and saw them just putting their clothes back, the woman had a short pixie cut and looked like a tomboy she looked wronged as she looked at the man with short black hair which was shadowing his eyes as she said with a tear streaking down her face:

"You animal you didn't even spare me..."

The man chuckled as he looked at her and said:

"Of course I didn't you were the only one that escaped my clutches in the outer sect, be a good girl and don't tell anyone or my uncle will use you just like I did, and let me tell he won't be as gentle as I was."

The woman's face whitened at the mentions of his uncle and she put her clothes back on her body quickly while running away when suddenly an arm clutched her ankle from the ground, an angry expression took her face as she stomped on the undead's arm and destroyed it quickly with a bunch of weak fire that shot out of her hands.

The undead arm was destroyed but the corpse didn't make itself visible as he seemingly knew it was going to get destroyed if it left its hiding place. (...)

I looked around and saw the man chuckling to himself as he started smoking a tobacco pipe, he felt refreshed after he put down such a fierce lady and reminisced his past accomplishments, I knew that look because I would look like that when I was thinking back on how I conquered so many celestial ladies.

This guy would make the perfect bite, I started to use my soul to create a delayed sound, from what I could infer from his body language he would come around here again and pin the woman down at the same place just to humiliate her further and make her his slave.

I have done many similar things in the past and knew how these people thought, even though he lacked finesse in his actions at the core they were the same, the creation of the delayed sounds would persist since he would come again, looking at his age and build I guessed he would come back with her in tow after a few hours.

As I waited I munched on leaves to restore my power while I also half slept keeping half of my soul awake to continue creating the delayed sounds, if I wasn't wrong they would come back around...

After a few more minutes of waiting they finally came back, it was approximately 4 hours since they finished their first round, It wasn't that impressive as I had already done around 10 thousand concubines at the same time, but this kid wasn't bad for his low cultivation base, I might even have taken him as an apprentice if I wasn't a caterpillar.

I sighed as I finally let the delayed sounds appear, by now another undead appeared which was quickly killed before I could let the sounds out, just like I calculated. (...)

Yun Jhin looked down at the undead's body as the sounds started to appear around the cemetery, the man eyes widened in surprise and delight as he slapped the woman unconscious, he didn't even get his pants back up as he suddenly ran towards the location of the sound.

Yun Jhin shook his head as he took back his thought of taking the young man as an apprentice, no apprentice of his would run around with his pants down. Yun Jhin crawled down from the tree and approached the unmoving corpse on the ground and the unconscious woman, he started eating the corpse slowly as the woman came back to her consciousness and ignore the corpse on the ground.

Her ears perked up as she heard the sound from before and just like the young man she started to run in its direction, after a short while the sound stopped but the duo never came back. (...)

As I started to dig into the corpse, the decayed blood entered my mouth and I didn't think like a caterpillar, so I thought I wouldn't feel anything but I felt disgusted, I wasn't sure why, In the past, I did eat a lot of corpses before, maybe caterpillars weren't intended to eat meat, but I stopped thinking about such things and continued eating.

Fortunately, the system helped me with this as normally a caterpillar wouldn't be able to eat meat. the decayed meat that was as grey as it could be, the dead fried maggots around the body, the crunching of the bones under my altered Caterpillar mouth, time passed by as I slept in the body but just like I calculated no one else came.

I ate and ate fell full and slept, as It continued my body changed it became stronger, faster and I could eat longer and longer, finally, after 2 months of eating at the corpse I finally finished it, blood maggots bones and everything else, I ate everything! (...)

Strange changes happened to Yun Jhin's little caterpillar body as it started to grow in height and weight, suddenly a notification from the system appeared, instead of the green screen that appeared before now it turned into a deep decaying purple as it said:

[Corpse fully digested, Host is ready for the Corpse devouring caterpillar evolution!]

It was time to change from this weak caterpillar form that incapable of cultivation to a similarly weak caterpillar form but one which could give me way more many paths of growth!

Yun Jhin took his fat bloated body towards the nest and found it to be full of leaves, a grieving butterfly could be seen inside it, seeing one of its children being alive and well it finally made a strange sound as it approached but then it smelled a different scent on it as it started to screech.

Butterflies could screech? Yun Jhin thought, but well he did eat his siblings, however, this butterfly looked like it wanted to attack as it waved his wings towards Yun Jhin and tried to throw him off the nest, fortunately, Yun Jhin's was now too fat for the feeble butterfly to throw him out!

He was almost like a rotund ball as he didn't digest everything yet, he rolled on the butterfly and squashed it into a mush which he also ate!

{Conditions met for a variant of corpse-eating Caterpillar, changed to family eating Caterpillar!]

Yun Jhin didn't think he would be so lucky he would be able to eat his mother, he knew of the variant of family eating caterpillar, it was different kind of caterpillar which evolved from eating its siblings and parents, it was one of the vilest caterpillar known to the cultivation bestiaries, however, in the end, it was still a caterpillar that even the lowest cultivators would scorn at.

However, for Yun Jhin, even the smallest improvement would make a huge change in the future as he had tons of cultivation techniques. Yun Jhin chuckled inside as he went to sleep in the nest.

Eating a corpse and his mother made him feel so full like he couldn't eat anything again, he started sleeping as his caterpillar form started to change it's color from a normal green to a deep dark, he started to grow from the length of an infant's finger to the height to an adult ring finger, a skull pattern appeared on his back that could only be discernible if he grew up to his full length.

Finally, after 30 hours of sleeping Yun Jhin woke up as refreshed as he could be as suddenly his stomach started growling! As a family eating caterpillar he was cursed with eternal hunger but since he was in a cemetery he would do a favor to the corpse cleaning apprentices and make the cemetery his buffet!

Family eating caterpillars were different from normal caterpillars as they were as quarter as strong as a normal human child, meaning that as long as Yun Jhin could get near a corpse be it moving or not he could eat it if he made a good enough plan.

And even though he wasn't extremely smart when it came to plans he was a genius with multiple reincarnations which made him very experienced when it came to combat to a point where he would act instinctively when it came to dodging, he would drill into the earth and hide into the shadows where he would devour unsuspecting undead!

As Yun Jhin made his plan he quickly drilled into the earth using his new corpse-eating teeth they were sharp enough to slash meat and bone and eat them at a way faster pace compared to the 3 months it took him to first finish that one body, he dropped into the catacombs below the cemetery as he looked around, mindless undead humans were sleeping here and there.

The cemetery was cleaned so very few undead were still intact, most of them were destroyed and cleansed, they were the results of failed corpse refining experiments of the nearby sect. (...)

I started munching on one nearby undead and finished his whole body in ten hours, I got bloated as I hid deeper in the earth to fully consume his nutrients when a notification took me away from my musings:

[Eat 100 bodies to achieve rank 2, the family eating caterpillar has 9 ranks you have to go through before you can evolve into a Death Butterfly.] (...)

The Death Butterfly was the next evolution of the family eating caterpillar Yun Jhin also knew of the next evolutions about the Death Butterfly, which was Flesh-Eating Butterfly and Monstrous Butterfly, but he didn't intend to go down this path, he needed to unlock a higher level bloodline, he needed to devour something else to change from family eating caterpillar to a different type of caterpillar, he needed to become a devilish caterpillar the highest bloodline known to the caterpillar kind!

However to do that he guessed he would need to devour high demons and devils, right now he couldn't even devour a hell salamander so he put that thought away. Right now he would have to reach rank 9 of the family eating caterpillar before he found a substitute to evolve into a different caterpillar, he wouldn't go down the butterfly evolution path until he gained the best bloodline!

Yun Jhin started to sleep as his soul kept replaying information that he would need in the future, due to Hades's intervention his memories didn't get fully wiped but he still lost quite a few of them...

Yun Jhin slept unknowingly to him his soul was bleeding out some memories, even though they weren't that important as long as he didn't heal his soul quickly he might even start losing important ones!
