Chapter 146 Vampire To Strength
The forest was filled with the sound of explosions.
The vampire raised its weapon in an attempt to block the projectiles to some degree. They weren't doing much damage to it in the first place, although it was certainly annoying him.

Ah, it looked like I hadn't really done much damage to him yet. 10% of his lost health was due to him feeding it to his weapon. I guess I still had much to go in terms of strength. I moved forward and put my left hand on the grip of [Tengen-Ko-Rin], which was on my back.
Chain him down, Tengen.
Chains were conjured, grabbing onto each of the vampire's limbs. He struggled as the strong chains stopped his movement. With this opportunity, I swung [Mayuri-Luc-Ei], trying to do as much damage to him as possible. My blade slashed through his body, making deep wounds. However, just as fast as I was cutting him, his previous injuries were being healed. In the end, he broke out of my jail and healed up the rest of his injuries, looking as good as new, aside from all of the blood.

Even after my numerous attacks, he still had quite a bit of blood remaining.
I ordered my Minions to start firing at him again. He swung toward my Minions, launching a powerful gust of wind toward them. Several of my Minions were hit, crashing to the ground.

I needed to deal some more damage if I wanted to defeat this vampire. I decided to go on the offensive, attacking him with [Mayuri-Luc-Ei]. The two of us traded blows. The loud clanging of our swords echoed through the forest.
All of a sudden, there was a break in the fighting.
I planted my back foot into the ground and tensed my entire body. With [Mayuri-Luc-Ei] raised in front of me, I braced for his attack. However, instead of charging towards me, he took slow, deliberate steps, closing the distance between us.
What.
All of a sudden, he quickened his pace and swung his sword from quite a distance away. I jumped back as fast as I could and the tip of the blade just barely missed my neck. I felt the breeze from the attack brushing against the skin on my neck.
Where did that sudden jolt of power come from?
He seemed to be quite surprised by the fact that I managed to dodge his attack. The swing left him off-balance, allowing me an opening to strike.
Cut him down, Mayuri.
With aura circling around the blade, I slashed at his body. He didn't have enough time to dodge the attack and as a result, he was forced to take it head on. My strengthened sword, cut into the vampire's flesh, making a deep obvious wound. This time, the injury didn't heal instantly, instead, taking a few seconds to slowly close itself up.

It was clear that the vampire was starting to get weaker.
As soon as there was space between us, my Minions instantly began attacking with their projectiles. It was the only way I could attack the vampire without getting caught in the crossfire.

I needed to wear the vampire down even more. It had yet to fall below half of its total blood yet. As I charged in for my next attack, I suddenly felt a pain in my leg. In response, I quickly jumped back and looked down. There was a long, red line, a red mark on my leg. A few seconds later, blood began dripping out of the wound.
Did he manage to slash me with his sword?
I didn't even see it happen.
He suddenly dashed toward me again. I got into a defensive posture and prepared to defend against his attacks. After trading a few blows, I suddenly felt another pain in my leg. Like before, a thin red line appeared, before little droplets of blood began dripping out.
How...
I didn't see his sword connect with my leg.
I took a few steps back to try to observe the situation, however, the vampire was constantly up in my face. I had no opportunity for a break, so I was forced to continue swinging [Mayuri-Luc-Ei]. Our swords clashed again and again. I had no space. I had nowhere to go but backwards.
I grabbed the grip of [Tengen-Ko-Rin].
Chain him down, Tengen.
As expected, I conjured fewer chains than before. However, it was enough for me to gain a small opening to attack. With all my strength, I swung the sword, slashing the vampire. I cleaved into his body, trying to cause as much damage as I could.

Damn, he's not going down without a fight.
Suddenly, I felt a stinging sensation on my face.
What in the world?
I quickly wiped my face with the back of my hand. Then, staining the back of my skin was some faint red liquid.
He managed to cut my face?
Why wasn't I seeing these attacks?
Something wasn't right.
I kicked him in the stomach before ordering my Minions to open fire.

Before long, he was right up against my face. I swung my sword at his neck, but he ducked and avoided the attack.
Crap, I'm wide open.
As fast as I could, I brought the sword down to defend my body. However, it wasn't enough. A sharp pain echoed through my body.
Shit.
He took a step back to avoid my swing.
Feeling my chest, I noticed that there was quite a lot of blood gathering. His sword had managed to make contact with my body. I was able to notice it this time.
I need to put my bandage on.
Blood was dripping out, staining my clothing. There was a deep red colour imbued on my shirt.
This was not good.
