My Plunderer System

Chapter 108 106 - The Beast Butcher

Hearing Mikael's proposition, Milo grew excited, hoping to see the skills of the man so notorious for killing beasts, that he was nicknamed the Beast Butcher. Seeing the same look Milo had in the eyes of the other members of the team, David shrugged and figured it could be used as a motivational tool to get them to work harder so he agreed to allow the master swordsman to join them. Mikael then nodded in understanding and left the room. When he returned he seemed to have a light set of leather armor on and what looked like an ordinary sword. It was the rental gear the guild offered for trainees to use until they got their own equipment.

Seeing Mikael in the getup, Milo was a bit confused. He expected Mikael to use his crystal looking sword from the day before and a set of super powerful armor but he was using ordinary rental gear. Mikael seeing the team's confusion assured everyone that this would be all he'd need, David nodded in understanding and then loaded up the simulated gate they'd be closing. Like they had been doing, David threw them into a B ranked gate.

The gate itself seemed to have a low hanging mist covering the floor, and sharp icicles could be seen hanging over their heads. Seeing these characteristics Milo knew the group was most likely in a frost attribute elemental gate. The group could see their breath, and the sound of crackling ice could be heard echoing through the gates interior.

"I'll stay towards the back," Mikael said, "Don't change your strategies for me, I'll act as a support and join in when I feel it is needed."

Milo and Harvey nodded, Mikael meant to help clear up any communication problems that would have arisen from him joining the team. Some of the other members may have thought he'd be the leader since he was such a well known and experienced gatecrasher, but he intended for the leadership of the team to remain the same as usual.

While the team made their way through the inside of the gate, Conner, one of the twins came over and seemed to want to ask Milo something. Apparently Conner was a huge fan of Mikael's and seeing how Milo and him interacted, he was curious about how Milo and Mikael knew each other. Milo went on to explain how he and Mikael met, and about how he was the combat teacher at the academy. He then told him how Mikael had come to the guild to help teach him about his knew weapon, he held Ghoul's Bane out in front of him in order to allow Conner to see the menacing blade.

Hearing all this, Conner seemed to go slack jawed. "So he taught you how to fight, and now your his apprentice?!"

Milo wanted to explain that it really wasn't that big of a deal, but Conner kept raving about how lucky Milo was, and if he could, to introduce him to Mikael sometime. Milo said sure just to get the conversation over with faster, and soon the team had arrived at a room that held the first group of beasts they'd be fighting.

The beasts had primate-like appearances, and were around 8 feet tall. Their body was covered in thick, dirty white fur, and their faces seemed to be curved into a constant scowl. Their red eyes were glowing in the subtle darkness of the gate, and Milo could see tusks of some kind glistening from their bottom jaw. Milo had an inkling as to what these beasts were, but used his inspect skill to confirm it.

[Unique Tier Beast]

Species: Berserk Yeti

Status: Healthy

Disposition: Aggressive

A common beast in frost attribute gates. They are very aggressive and have immense strength. They aren't known to be very intelligent, and because of their love for the cold, they have a large fear of fire. They have grown accustomed to their cold environments they call home, and because of this have a very high resistance to the Frost ability. For some reason they are very common in gates that appear around Nepal.

Seeing that his guess was right, Milo figured that he'd stick with close combat for this gate due to the Ice ability being weak against the yetis. This would also be a great opportunity to train the swordsmanship he had learned the day before. Mikael was watching the team go through their engagements with the Yeti from a short distance away, and as he had said earlier would only get involved if they needed it. Milo was using the sword style that Mikael had shown him the day before, it was still at a novice level, but it proved to be effective, and due to him being unable to use the Frost ability he chose to use Reinforce instead, making him stronger, as well as making his body more resilient to attacks. Because of this any attacks that snuck through his defense didn't cause any severe injuries.

While fighting the yetis, Milo noticed one break through the formation and make their way to their ranger who was near the supports at the center of their team. Before he could shout to get one of the tanks' support though, Milo saw Mikael strike at the yeti. Milo could've sworn he only saw one strike come from Mikael's sword, but 5 lacerations appeared on the yeti simultaneously. This was Mikael's ability at work. With his ability Double Impact, Mikael could cause multiple strikes to appear when attacking once, it was extremely strong when paired with his swordsmanship, and the yeti that broke through was dismembered by Mikael in an instant. With rental gear no less.

Seeing the flawless swordsmanship from his teacher, Milo became lost in thought. Because of this, he allowed an attack to get through, it was a punch to the gut that sent him flying backwards. It didn't do much damage due to him using Reinforce, but it was enough to annoy Milo. He wanted to relax and watch Mikael fight more, and the yeti was getting in the way of this. After getting back to his feet, he stared the yeti down, there was around 15 yards between the two and as soon as they made eye contact, the yeti snarled and charged at Milo.

Milo wanted to kill the beast in front of him quickly, and at his current range he pushed the button on the weapon's hilt, deciding the whip mode would be perfect at this moment. While the sword was transitioning into the whip, he swung it out quickly making an X shape. 2 deep gashes appeared on the chest of the yeti, who stopped stunned that it had been attacked from this range. This made it snarl again in anger from seeing its own blood get spilled. At this point, the blade segments had completely separated and Milo swung the weapon out wrapping it around the yeti's throat. He pulled the hilt like a ripcord, and the yeti's head was separated from its torso. The last thing that the yeti saw was the bladed whip wrapping around its throat before everything went black.

Milo flicked the whip out to clean it of the blood that had been left on the blade from the simulated beast before returning to the rest of the team who was finishing up combat. No one had been hurt thanks to Mikael intervening, and the support from the teams healers.

Cameron, the other twin had seen Milo's attack that killed the yeti and seemed to be bouncing on his toes in excitement from watching the exchange, "Holy shit that was insane Milo, that attack was insane the stupid thing never even saw it coming," he exclaimed.

Milo shrugged, reverting the whip back to sword mode, and the group continued on through the gate, Mikael hadn't gotten involved much, only assisting when a beast got too close to the center of their formation. The yetis they had been fighting thus far didn't use any strategies and instead just rushed in, which made it pretty easy for the tanks to capture their attention and keep them occupied for the dealers to exterminate them. Eventually the team had dealt with all the normal beasts in the gate and had arrived at the boss room.

The boss of the dungeon looked like a giant turtle. Icicles could be seen growing on its underside, and it would undoubtedly have an extremely high durability thanks to its large shell. While the group prepared for combat. Mikael stepped forward.

"This one is mine," he said.

Strolling forward, the boss screeched in anger at the human approaching it. The boss then reared its head back and when thrusting it forward let out a freezing cold stream of air from its mouth. The place where Mikael had been standing was now covered in spikes of ice. Mikael was no where to be seen however. Milo could then see Mikael up above the top of the turtle's head, he pressed his feet off the ceiling, after avoiding the breath attack with a jump and launched himself towards the beast.

He held the sword high above his head and when he got close enough began to spin, turning into a wheel of death. As soon as the sword made contact with the beasts neck, the blade cut through the boss's thick scales like butter, and with a loud thud, the body of the turtle collapsed to the ground, no longer having a head.

Soon the gate had begun to revert to the lobby and Mikael flicked his sword to rid the blade of any blood left behind from slaying the boss. He then turned to see the jaws of Milo and his teammates dropping to the floor.
