Chapter 799: The Shattering of the Nether Pillar
Chapter 799: The Shattering of the Nether Pillar
“Who is it?!”
Everyone present was startled, and their eyes turned in the direction of the Nether Pillar. The Qilin Beast’s eyes were wide open as it glared angrily ahead.
There hung a figure. His whole body was shrouded in holy white light, with a pair of antlers on his head, and his amber eyes shining brightly, making him look like a saint
The person who came was none other than Qin Feng!
He arrived late because he had to integrate the Dao principles of the White Deer within him, leveraging the residual power of the saint to step into the Transcendence Realm!
“You’re just in time,” Zhao Wenhe held his chest and breathed a sigh of relief. If he were one step later, Qin Jian’an would have been crushed to pieces by the punishment of hades!
Seeing this, Shentu coldly shouted, “Though I don’t know how you stepped into the Transcendence Realm, do you think, by yourself, you can reverse the current situation?”
“Ghost Soldiers and Generals, heed my command! This individual is the son of the traitorous Ghost Emperor Qin. Since he dares to show himself, he shall be killed without mercy!”
The ghost soldiers and generals immediately responded, “Kill!”
Their roar shook the heavens. The ghosts converged towards the Nether Pillar with fierce momentum.
Just as tensions reached their peak, a graceful figure appeared out of nowhere, and shouted, “Wait! By order of the Ghost Lord, release the Southern Ghost Emperor! The upheaval in the Netherworld is not his fault but a scheme by the Central Ghost Emperor, Zhou Qi!”
This statement caused a commotion throughout the crowd.
The ghosts looked towards Zhou Qi, the old man with white hair, who remained calm. To them, the Central Ghost Emperor was second only to the Ghost Lord, and had been a figure since the inception of the Netherworld, often saving it from peril.
How could such a Ghost Emperor wish to destroy the Netherworld?
“Nonsense!” Shentu erupted in fury. “The Ghost Lord is still maintaining the seal in the Negate Bridge barrier. How could she issue orders?”
“Meng Shuang, you colluded with traitors from other realms and falsely issued commands at this time. You deserve to die a thousand times over!”
At these words, Meng Shuang took a deep breath. “Qin Feng!”
With a flick of his hand, Qin Feng sent a beam of white light into Meng Shuang’s hand, the same bone token that the Ghost Lord had given him!
She raised the token high and declared, “Look, everyone, what is this?!”
All the ghost soldiers and generals turned to look, and then their eyes widened with disbelief on their faces.
How could anyone in the Netherworld not recognize the token of the Ghost Lord? To see this token was to see the Ghost Lord!
For a moment, everyone was filled with doubt, wondering if what Meng Shuang had said earlier was true.
Shentu was also greatly shocked. He hadn’t expected the Ghost Lord to entrust this token to a human! Discussions rang out everywhere and became more and more intense.
Seeing that the situation was about to spiral out of control, Shentu shouted loudly, “Where are the Eastern Ghosts and the Central Ghosts?”
“Here!” Their voices resounded.
“Drive the intruders out of the Netherworld!”
“Yes, sir!” Two groups of ghost soldiers separated from the crowd and stood alongside Shentu. But this was far from over!
Zhao Wenhao and Zhang Heng spoke simultaneously, “Where are the Western and Northern Ghosts?”
In unison, they responded, “By order of the Ghost Lord, we are to prevent the punishment of the Nether Scourge. Anyone who obstructs shall be killed without mercy!”
“Yes!” In no time, two more groups of ghost soldiers appeared, opposing Shentu’s forces. But this was not the end!
Li Yang floated in the air, his voice resonating like a bell, “Where are the Zhenling Army?”
“Here!” One hundred thousand ghost soldiers shouted in unison.
“Are you willing to fight with me again?!”
“Kill!” The momentum caused even the heavens and earth to tremble! Even several Ghost Emperors couldn’t help but glance over! The situation changed too quickly, catching Shentu off guard!
Zhao Wenhao and Zhang Heng stood before Zhou Qi, facing each other. The old man with white hair remained expressionless as he spoke faintly, “Do you think that boy alone can stop the punishment of hades?”
Zhang Heng shrugged indifferently, “If he can’t stop it, whether his father dies or not, it’s none of my concern. I’ve done all I can.”
Zhao Wenhao opened his mouth as if to speak but then hesitated.
At this point, he was already convinced that framing Qin Jian’an and imposing the punishment of hades was Zhou Qi’s scheme.
But there was still one thing he didn’t understand. With the opponent’s strength, killing a newly appointed Ghost Emperor would be effortless. So why make things so complicated?
But even with his doubts, the current situation left no room for further thought. Faced with such a monstrous figure, any distraction in battle would undoubtedly lead to death.
Zhou Qi raised his eyes, seemingly reminiscing about the past. “Back then, when you were promoted from a ghost general to a Ghost Emperor, it was I who promoted you. I never thought that in the end, you would be digging your own grave.”
“I haven’t forgotten your kindness, but perhaps the old man has forgotten his original intentions,” Zhao Wenhao said solemnly.
“Original intentions? Perhaps. But do you remember the lessons I taught you?” Zhou Qi pulled back the left sleeve of his robe, revealing a robust physique that hardly resembled that of an old man.
“What lessons?” Zhang Heng asked, a sudden tremor appeared in his heart for no apparent reason.
“If you encounter an enemy much stronger than yourself, you must go all out from the start, or there will be only a path to death. Are you prepared?” With these words, Zhou Qi reached into the void with his left hand, and a long sword wrapped in black qi and ghostly shadows appeared.
Zhao Wenhao and Zhang Heng, sensing the threat, faced him with great caution. “Blade of Slaughter – Ghosts’ Roar…”
“Let’s see if that boy can break the punishment of hades before you both die under my blade.”
Boom!
A powerful pressure descended, as if the sky itself was collapsing. All the ghost soldiers present cowered, looking up in astonishment at the massive shadow of a Ghost Head that seemed to blot out the sun.
Zhou Qi, the Central Ghost Emperor, is undoubtedly the first man under the Ghost Lord!… Qin Feng glanced at the battlefield and then shifted his gaze back to the Qilin Beast before him.
He could feel the surging power emanating from the beast. The Qilin Beast glared angrily at him baring its fangs and claws. After being hindered by the puny human in front of it, it intended to devour him just like it had done to Fire Phoenix before.
But what it never expected was that the human only glanced at it briefly, then turned to look at the Nether Pillar, as if it didn’t even consider it a threat.
This was a great humiliation!
Roar!
The deafening sound echoed.
The Qilin Beast jumped onto the Nether Pillar, gathered its strength, and then leapt in an instant.
In the blink of an eye, it covered a hundred meters! Seeing this, Qin Feng raised his right hand, and a bolt of white lightning shot out from his index finger. The formidable thunderbeast was blown away with a single strike, and half of its body dissolved into nothingness!
The ghost soldiers witnessing this scene gasped in shock, their expressions filled with disbelief. Who was this human? He is so terrifying!
However, the Qilin Beast itself was a fusion of thunder and gale, and even though it was severely injured, after gathering the power of the Nether Pillar, it was restored to its original state once again.
But its demeanor was far less arrogant than before.
“I don’t have time to deal with you.” His indifferent words were as calm as a pool of autumn water. With a thought, a crimson beast shadow leaped out from the Divine Sea, atop its head stood a small figure in green. Wasn’t it Chi Qi and Bai Su?
Chi Qi might be small in size, but its aura was no weaker than its opponent’s. It glared with its eyes, and thunderbolts erupted from its mouth.
Its appearance seems to say, “Little brother, are you intending to harm my master?” Just by looking at their sizes, it should have been a contest of great disparity in strength.
But what stunned everyone present was that when the Qilin Beast saw Chi Qi, it acted like a mouse seeing a cat, trembling all over with fear!
“How can this be?” Shentu exclaimed in astonishment.
Meng Shuang, who was informed, stepped forward and chuckled, “The Thunder of Annihilation is the ancestor of thunder, and all thunder must submit before it.”
And indeed, that was the truth!
Shentu said solemnly, “Even if he can intercept the killing intent of the punishment of hades, he cannot detach Ghost Emperor Qin from the Nether Pillar. Only the Ghost Lord can unlock the seal of the Nether Pillar, something even Lord Zhou Qi would find difficult to accomplish.” Meng Shuang’s expression grew grave.
These words were true. How could the Nether Pillar, an ancient artifact of the Netherworld, be taken lightly? Just as the two were at a standstill, a powerful pressure descended from the sky. Compared to the commotion caused by Zhou Qi earlier, it was equally formidable!
Seizing the opportunity, Zhao Wenhao and Zhang Heng retreated, and even Zhou Qi didn’t pursue, but instead looked up.
Then, they saw the figure enveloped in sacred light strolling in the void. With each step he took, a bright virtual shadow was left behind.
One step, two steps, three steps… until the seventh step! The dazzling white light seemed capable of piercing through heaven and earth.
Qin Feng slowly pressed his palm onto the Nether Pillar, murmuring, “Immortal Technique – Seven Steps to Heaven.” As his words fell, the world seemed to turn white, and time itself seemed to freeze.
No one could hear anything anymore. There was only a sharp cracking sound, sharp and a bit harsh!
“The Nether Pillar, it’s shattered,” Shentu said incredulously. Then came another roar! The Nether Pillar, revered by the people of the Netherworld as a divine object, collapsed with a thunderous crash, breaking inch by inch.
And all of this, came from the hands of one man!
