Mythos Of Narcissus: Reborn As An NPC In A Horror VRMMO

Chapter 100: Sera's Viewpoint: Sneaky Little Actor

"Sera! Are you alright?" Erika shouted as she approached me with a hilariously worried face. "You dummy! Why didn't you call any of us when finding a new stray Calamity Object creeping up from the west!?" She rotated her neck beyond 180 degrees as she pointed at where the group of other recruits were located.

"As sweet as you're, please do not dilute your unreasonable sweetness into your common sense!"

Right, my name is Sera, a supposed-to-be timid and careful forager of the Rough Mist, and probably also one of the reasons why I got recruited again by this unnamed bastion with an extremely eccentric leader.

That aside, I wondered why Erika was this mad when I strayed from the formation to scout alone. She wasn't this overactive to me when we were still in the Rough Mist.

Maybe because she tried to move on? Since many of those she knew were either dead or locked up in that shabby warehouse with no care from the bastion itself.

Still, it was hilarious that she exuded so much eeriness to me.

Considering that I killed all of the stray Calamity Objects before this.

"Ahahah… thank you for worrying about me…" Yeah, right, thanks to you, I have a face that I could recall for a quick laugh somewhere down in the memory lane.

"You're probably the weakest out of us all, so please stick to a large group, unless you want the Glimmermoth to suck your eyeball out!"

"I-I will!"

This was the demerit of establishing yourself as a harmless flower in a bastion. Though, considering that I'm inside a new bastion, I should start to make a new image of myself, no?

But somehow, the Script that was given to me by that woman named Narcissus kept suggesting that I maintain this imagery.

Yes, not only that my whole nature was uncovered in this Script, I was also urged to maintain my discretion.

When did she know that my whole kindness and demeanor were an act?

I believe that she still believes that I was this harmless forager from the interview.

Or did she want me to believe that she hadn't prodded out my true identity??

This is scary, that Narcissus person is scary.

"You took down five Glimmermoth with a pike without anyone else witnessing."

"Gyaah!!"

Just as I thought that I had already followed Erika to where everyone was, a certain golden figure appeared out of nowhere behind me.

Wait, we're now far away from the supposed location where everyone was converging. Did I get teleported, somehow? Or was there a Calamity Object that could influence the landscape and the mind??

"Relax~ neither of those scenarios you're thinking about is the truth to what's currently happening," This Narcissus woman leaned her head forward with such a creepy smile, it was hard to know what she was thinking at all. "Still, though, I have a good faith in you."

She patted me on the shoulder before walking past me.

She seemed to be planning on going somewhere isolated from everyone.

Regardless, I don't want to delve too much into her actions or reason. In Carcosa, there was this one rule that a bastioneer should abide by.

'Do not uncover every secret.'

Still anxious, I withdrew a ration that was distributed by the leader of this bastion before the start of the ordeal.

It was some sort of stew but with thick and syrupy consistency, something that I had never tried before. The box was also complete with cutlery and a couple of optional seasonings.

I remembered all of the herbs used for the seasonings. I just didn't expect that some of them could be used for this kind of purpose.

Well, regardless, I was glad that this bastion was unique in the slightest. Surviving an Ordeal was never much of an issue for my strength and instinct.

"Mmm… this is good."

Right, I should continue eating this later. I probably need to regroup and lessen the wailing that Erika will make, and also the nagging that Amelia will throw at me.

After I joined the group, I began once again melting myself with the background and task at hand. Waves after waves of Calamity Objects, I used the most minimal effort and pretended that I still had a problem maneuvering this pike into the enemy's weakness.

All of those aside, I was amazed that Narcissus and the black-dressed woman called Kuzunoha knew so much about the Calamity Object. Like, to an absurd degree.

Most of the time, a Librarian or a C.O Specialist would be able to discern the level of danger and possible gimmick that an unfamiliar Calamity Object might exude through certain means and experience.

After all, in a world where there could possibly be an infinite amount of Calamity Objects, a pattern should at least be recognizable between some of them.

But when it comes to these two, they laid out everything about the Calamity Object itself. They knew the name of every Calamity Object, their gimmick, a sure-fire method to deal with them—and they even knew which one was safe to be carved and extracted into resources.

Yes, they extract materials from the Calamity Object right after we vanquished them, something that was unheard of in many bastions and citadels.

Then again, this was also the first time I saw a person using a ballista as her way-to-go weapon, while triple-wielding spears with strange blades that made no sounds when swung.

Those two aside, my other superior was also not a normal person either.

Verina was supposedly the manager of the us newbies in here, but her sole role in this bastion was nothing less than an absolute powerhouse that beseech destruction for our enemies at the mere command of our leader.

It was the first time I saw an ohrtender of that caliber. Not to mention, the ridiculous casting speed for something so complex and efficiency.

I remembered in my interview session with Narcissus, I was told that the Rough Mist was supposed to be completely annihilated if not because of Verina.

At first, I thought that maybe she didn't want to waste much of her lifeline for such an inconsequential fight, just like many ohrtender I met before. Afterall, bloodies were precious for us mere low-class bastioneers, and Potion of Lifeline was hard to procure in many places. Experience more content on m v|l e'-NovelBin.net

But nope, it just turned out to be that, Madam Verina was feeling kind today.

Because it had been 9 hours, and she had been casting ridiculous spells nonstop since the start of the dusk!
