Necropolis Immortal

Chapter 2216.2: Refining the Sword Pagoda, An Image of Heaven and Earth

Chapter 2216.2: Refining the Sword Pagoda, An Image of Heaven and Earth

The sword pagoda’s core essence was much stronger than a connate treasure’s. At his current level of strength, Lu Yun was unable to fully refine it. After all, he’d claimed the Reincarnation Disk in the world of immortals only when he reached immortal overlord.

Right now, he merely communicated with the pagoda through his nascent soul and borrowed its strength. Although it was an insignificant portion of power for the sword pagoda, it was of tremendous help to Lu Yun.

“So the sealed version of myself did indeed prepare this sword pagoda for me!” Joy crossed his face. “Oof!”

The unexpected took place next. A domineering sword intent appeared in his mind and occupied his thoughts.

“The Nine Oscillations of the Heavenly Sword!” he murmured subconsciously. Ponderous sword intent gathered in his dantian and summoned all of Lu Yun’s Hongmeng qi to itself, forming a ray of gray sword qi.

The Nine Oscillations of the Heavenly Sword was the other sword method originally in the sword pagoda, and stronger than the Eighteen Cerulean Sword Dragons. However, it was still less than the Vast Dragon Seaturner.

Lu Yun had a hunch that if he were to obtain the Vast Dragon Seaturner, his sealed memories would break forth. That would be an utter disaster.

“To think that this kind of surprise would be in store after I refined the sword pagoda as my image of heaven and earth…”

He remained in seclusion and took out Immortals Forbidden. With his cultivation at initial soul separation, he could fully deploy the strength of a lower dao rank weapon. Thus, he wanted to reforge his weapon into that level.

Immortals Forbidden was crafted from paramount rank materials. He’d forced it into a spirit weapon through his methods and could raise it to dao rank anytime he wished to. Reaching to the southern void, Lu Yun grasped a ball of connate li fire.

The Cauldron of Heaven and Earth and the Hadal Bird remained in storage within the sword pagoda. Only connate li fire was needed for a lower dao rank weapon.

The task was complete after four hours and Lu Yun rose to his feet, removing the formation that he’d laid beforehand. It’d been seven days since he entered the place of burial. Danger walked side by side with opportunity during this time and many immortals had sought out fortune unique to them. In comparison, Lu Yun’s Unselfish Hateless Pill wasn’t much at all.

However, more cultivators had died here than anywhere else. He was besieged by a group of skeletal soldiers as soon as he walked out.

“Their white bones have a gold sheen and soulfire burns within their head…” Lu Yun jumped with shock when he saw the soldiers. This description indicated that the soldiers had been golden immortals when alive. Although they were the spirits of the dead now, they retained their golden immortal strength.

“That’s strange, what are dead spirits doing here? Shouldn’t they be in the underworld? But wait… although they’re manifestations of golden immortals, they’re ridiculously weak. Are they only the equivalent of awakened cultivators?” The young man’s pupils constricted sharply. The underworld… there was no Yellow Springs or kingdom of the underworld in this world…

“Immortal weapons!” He took a sharp breath when he noted the level of weapon that the soldiers wielded. Their core essence seemed to have been destroyed, leaving them as lower rank immortal weapons.

“My cross cannon needs some fuel. Although something’s sucked the core essence out of your bones, you’re the skeletons of bonafide golden immortals!” Lu Yun shifted forward and rushed the soldiers.

As he utilized the Nine Forms of the Cloud Dragons, he flickered in and out of sight among the soldiers. A skeleton’s soulfire was shattered everytime he appeared, its body and weapon taken in its demise.

“Someone’s challenging the skeletal soldiers!” The fight drew in some spectators.

“That young man is so strong! Those soldiers have swallowed countless nascent souls already and are awakened stage dead spirits. He’s… hacking through them like he’s chopping vegetables?” Stares of disbelief shot in the relevant direction.

“What a marvelous body method!” A young man in long amethyst robes and a gold crown in his hair watched raptly. “Although the dead are ferocious, they are without intelligence. The young man must know their weakness if he is able to kill them with one blow and it’s his incredible body method that enables him to do so!”

“It… seems to be the Nine Forms of the Cloud Dragons from eight thousand years ago, the legendary Slaughterless from the Celestial Realm Battlefront!” Some people next to him recognized Lu Yun’s method.

“Coming and going with utmost mystery in those nine movements… even immortals cannot make out his form. I must have the Nine Forms of the Cloud Dragons!” A keen light sparkled in the young man’s eyes.

……

Having spent one of his lives in the underworld, Lu Yun knew how to kill spirits of the dead. But given that he sensed a crowd gathering, he didn’t utilize the combat arts of heavenly dao, even though they would instantly eviscerate all of the skeletal soldiers.

He eliminated all five hundred after an hour and collected their skeletons and weapons.

“Please stay, fellow daoist!” Nearly one hundred cultivators flew out of the dark when he was about to leave and surrounded him.

“Fellow daoist, we have pursued those soldiers for many days and have decided ownership for these immortal weapons. Please return them to us,” said a merry peak awakened cultivator. He wore a green upper dao rank robe and stroked his white beard, the image of an otherworldly figure.

“And you guys? Are you here for the immortal weapons as well?” Lu Yun looked around him instead of answering.

“I want your body method.” The young man with a gold crown walked out. “This seat thinks nothing of those treasures.”

Anyone still alive after seven days and openly sauntering through the place of burial was the cream of the crop. Two dozen awakened cultivators stood in a battle formation behind the young man and were ready to pounce on Lu Yun any time.

Humm!

Immortals Forbidden flared with scintillating light so bright that the others had to avert their eyes.

“You want the treasures and my body method? Why don’t you try?” Lu Yun rose into the air with a cold smirk. Though he’d just entered soul separation and hadn’t had time to practice many combat arts, his strength and cultivation had taken a qualitative leap forward after refining the sword pagoda and learning the Nine Oscillations of the Heavenly Sword.

It was the perfect time to test himself on some opponents.

Thus, he’d showed off his prowess not to avoid trouble, but hoping that it would come for him and provide targets for practice.

He stood in the air with his long hair and white robes flowing elegantly, Immortals Forbidden so bright that no one could look upon it. Some cultivators couldn’t help but take a few steps back.

“How arrogant!” the young man barked with laughter. He summoned a cerulean blue longsword into his hand and commanded sword qi to soar out of it. It was an immortal weapon!

“Where did this bumpkin come from? You think you’re invincible after some fortuitous encounters! My young lord is the thirty-sixth son of Marquis Skycloud, one of the thirty-six marquises of Great Xia. Kneel and beg for mercy in front of His Grace!” roared an awakened cultivator behind the young man.

Seeing that the young man was the son of Marquis Skycloud, the elder who’d demanded the treasures quickly turned around with a cupped fist salute. He smiled fawningly, “Mosi Yuxiu was unaware of the young lord’s arrival. Please forgive me if I gave offense earlier!”

It was as if the young lord didn’t hear him.

Yun Shuige, the thirty-sixth son of Marquis Skycloud, was a preeminent genius in Great Xia. He was already peak awakened stage in his early thirties and his true origin fully transmuted to immortal origin. All he needed was for his immortal tribulation to arrive to complete his ascension to immortality.

He ranked among the top ten of the Great Xia younger generation and was known in the Dao Academy.

“The thirty-sixth son of Marquis Skycloud?” Lu Yun frowned. Marquis Skycloud was ranked among the upper half of the thirty-six marquises, his strength and faction unusually formidable. Most importantly was that he was steadfast friends with the Origin King.

He might’ve reconsidered his course of action if it was any other noble son.

“The son of a mere Marquis Skycloud wants this young master to get on my knees? Do you want to die, or do you want to die?” Lu Yun sneered with contempt.

“You court death!” erupted the sanctimonious Mosi Yuxiu before Yun Shuige said anything. “What backwater did a bumbling fool like you spring out of? How dare you disrespect the young lord? Pay with your life!”

He waved his hand and sent forth curtains of silver splendor from his fly-whisk. It was a paramount dao weapon!

Mosi Yuxiu was definitely one who knew how to adapt to the situation. Although he had his own sect in Great Xia, it was not a premier faction. The benefits went without saying if he were able to latch onto a big thigh like the young lord!

Mosi Yuxiu’s actions goaded those around him into a quick response. They’d just witnessed Lu Yun kill the skeletal soldiers, so they swiftly assembled into a formation that trapped him inside.
