Chapter 131: Beet
Chapter 131: Beet
"Yes? O-oh, uhmmm, I, uh, I think you're r-really p-pretty. Um, would you m-maybe w-want to g-g-g-go out s-sometime?" The elf boy softly asked as he started to sweat out of nervousness.
Thea was impressed, she had observed a few other young men that seemed to have the same intention, but out of all of them, this shy elf boy was the first to express his feelings. Out of the good impression Thea got from the young elf, Thea thought of going with the sandwich method, she would start with a compliment before rejecting the elf and ending it with another compliment.
'This strategy has a history of working well. Yeah, I'll go with this.' Thea thought before a polite smile appeared on her face.
"I find your courage admirable, and I want you to know that you seem like a nice person, but I'm not interested. I'm sure with your courage you'll find someone else." Thea said with a smile.
The elf boy looked dejected but after a few seconds he stood up straight before looking at Thea with bright eyes, seeming much more confident than when he first appeared.
"Th-thank you for your answer. I'll take my leave then." The elf boy politely said before turning around and walking away, through the small crowd that had formed.
Thea had just turned around to continue her talk with the girls, when someone called out from behind her.
""Hear me, fair damsel, for I am the embodiment of chivalry and valor. It is your great fortune that I have taken an interest in you. Succumb to my advances, and I shall grant you the opportunity to be the recipient of my patronage." An annoyingly posh voice said with confidence.
Thea was stunned by what she heard, she slowly turned around and looked for the young man that had just given her a confession, if that was what it was. Thea had to giggle when she heard the words he had spoken, they seemed to have come straight out of a fairy tale book.
"Why are you speaking like that?" Mia, who was sitting at the other side of the table, asked the young fat man.
The fat man was wearing posh clothes similar to what french nobles would have worn in the 1800s.
"Silence, you filthy beast-kin, what makes you think you can even speak to someone high like me?" The fat young man said in disgust.
Hearing this, not only was Mia upset, but all the girls sitting at Thea's table and some of the crowd that were watching the arrogant man, looked at him in an angry manner.
"And what makes you think, you can speak to her like that?" Thea asked as she tried to stay calm, her gaze and her aura, were anything but friendly.
The young man who was under Thea's direct, hostile gaze, shivered in fear. Something about those small cold black holes in Thea's red and yellow eyes scared the noble greatly.
Nala, who was sitting closest to her, could even feel something dark and deathly from Thea's aura, making her shiver.
"Al-Althea?" Nala softly asked, making Thea turn her gaze from the young man.
Thea's eyes lost their coldness and looked at Nala with warmth, "Yes?" Thea asked.
Before Nala could even say: "It's nothing", the noble started to shout.
"How dare you look at the high and mighty me like that?! I am Beet Sinclair, the ninth son of Count Gallen Sinclair, president of the Merchants Guild!" The fat boy shouted, arrogance reappearing on his face after he loudly stated his fathers name and position.
At this moment one of the students from the crowd came forwards, greeted him and whispered something into Beet's ears, in response to what his 'lackey' said, Beet shouted: "What?! Who dared to say that?!".
The lackey then pointed at Thea and Nala before saying: "It was those two."
Beet's face became visibly redder and veins seemed to bulge at his temple and neck, he then turned to look at Thea and Nala with an extremely angered expression.
"Did you call my invention stupid and did you call me an idiot?!" Beet demanded an answer as he glared at Thea.
"Ohh so you are that idiot. Well it was not a pleasure to meet you, you can go now. Bye bye." Thea said with a smile as she tried to shoo away the 'bug' that was annoying her.
'No wonder that combo is dumb, the creator is dumb too.' Thea thought as she looked at Beet with mocking eyes.
Thea didn't really expect Beet to go away, but she at least wanted to give him a chance.
