Chapter 350: Follow Me!
Chapter 350: Follow Me!
"It's an ancient tradition of war," the king said, "where every army will send one hero to fight against the other heroes of the other army."
"It's the fight to death between the best of both armies," Tony said, "but in your case that hideous man will ask for an entire fight between his army and ours."
"No, he won't," the king didn't agree with Tony.
"The only time he used this way was against a much larger and far stronger army than his," Tony said in bitter tone, "and he used this way to make sure he would exhaust the other army heroes and then send his own to finish them off."
"The prime fort battle... I also heard a lot about this war," the king said, "but that doesn't mean we will agree to his demands."
"Once a challenge is issued by one side, the other has to decide the terms," Tony said, "so we can't be the ones to ask, and we can't wait for him to think about it."
"But..." Bloom suddenly stepped in to stop this useless debate between the two, "what if we forced his hand to do that?"
"How?" Tony asked, "don't tell me you'll use your weapon to exterminate his army."
Bloom's eyes shone brightly as he said, "That's exactly my intentions."
"Sigh," Tony had to admit it was so hard speaking with two war lovers like the two in front of him instead of using their minds and tactics to win the wars. "without saying anything to me, I can tell such a weapon has many limitations, like duration of stay or the number of you using it in one day... right?"
Bloom was surprised for Tony to guess this far on his own. "Impressive," he couldn't help but commend, "that's exactly true."
"Then what prevents him from running away and hiding until your weapon vanishes?"
"Because we will be the ones who force him to stay," the king finally realized his plan, and surprisingly that happened even before Tony could get it. "You plan to reverse our roles and we act as bait."
"It's not like this," Bloom shrugged, "you just have to make him busy to leave."
Tony finally realized what he was aiming for. "So to be clear, the hardest moment will be the beginning of the fight, right?"
"No genius," the king sneered as he hit Tony on the back, "it's when we are supposed to stop him from running away."
Tony gave the king a silent glance before returning to Bloom. The latter knew what Tony meant and he nodded in agreement to his words.
The hardest and most risky moment of this war would be the opening exchanges between the two armies.
"Alright then," Tony sucked in the cold air of breath, "what do you plan as an opening move?"
And Bloom had to evilly smile.
"Come," he turned and started to descend the stairs to the ground, "we have a deal to strike."
"What deal?" The king was more excited when he heard this word while Tony could only sigh while following the two from behind.
"You'll see," Bloom didn't spill out the beans while moving fast towards the intermediate wall.
The ground looked quite empty especially when there were not enough troops to fill it. The two armies he brought here were barely enough to cover the walls and the outer fortress.
He didn't know where the main fight would erupt, here or at the five road watching fortress. However he knew no matter how he looked at it, the current numbers of his army was lacking.
He needed more, and he simply had a way to get that.
"I hope they won't charge me a lot," he stood in front of five buildings which were surrounded with one unified medium height wall reaching ten meters.
In his eyes this building could be considered a small watching post of its own accord.
"The mercenary guild?" Tony stood by his side while giving him a doubtful glance, "they are strong indeed, but not that cheap to hire."
"This guild is a treasure trove," the king greedily said, "why not raid it instead?"
"This is our guild," Bloom couldn't help but shake his head in disappointment, "how can we raid what we own? Plus they are the only ones able to solve our current problem fast."
"What problem?" the king asked in a loss.
"The low number of our army problem you smart," Tony sneered before he watched Bloom knock over the closed gate.
"Who's there?" a harsh voice came from behind the closed doors, "go away, we aren't opening for now."
"I'm the owner of the fort," Bloom didn't hesitate to shout in a strong tone, "open up or I'll be forced to open it with force."
He considered such a possibility before. The game might force such buildings to be closed temporarily during any war.
However he also knew this wasn't any simple game; this was a real world in its own accord.
So as in his real world, everything was negotiable.
"Creak!"
The gates slowly opened to let one man come out from it. He wore full armor while wielding a long spear that ended up with a rounded thick tip like it was a giant stick.
"What business does the lord of the fort need from our humble house?" The man slightly bowed his head but Bloom felt his sinister intentions from his tone not words.
He gave him the impression of dealing with a sly man, using sweet words to cover up his ill intentions.
"I'm here to make a business with your house," Bloom didn't even wait for the man to respond or even stand straight before he walked directly towards the gate.
Just as the man tried to extend his hand and stop him, the king jumped and pushed the hand away. "Keep your dirty hands off my lord! Do you want me to call the army and topple this place to the ground?"
