Chapter 2097: Foolish Humans -Final
"Fuck this shit and the plan!" One of the Mong Empire officers complained as he bit his hand and his blood splattered all over his face while an electrifying sensation passed through his entire body.
At that point, the Mages saw that the Mong Empire officer instantly mutated into a giant sized demon, and at the same time, he grew wings behind his back, allowing the officer flight so that he could dive in and counter the monstrous mages that were killing his people.
Just as the officer turned, the rest of the Mong Officers also believed that if they really did stick to their so called plan, they would also be killed without any worth to their name. Hence, they also started to turn into demons along and this gave their men precedence to follow the very same footsteps.
The Rifle Mages did not hesitate to change their target to defeat these human turned demons. In fact, most if not all had stopped attacking the humans and it was as if this was their tactic in the first place the moment they knew there was something different with the Mong Empire soldiers.
The invading armies who were at the side of these Mong Empire soldiers could not believe it either as they saw the change in priority to Ress' targeting. It seemed like they were not working with the demons and against them. The invading armies were actually the ones who had been working along with the demons in their midst.
Still, to be the third party observer to see Mong Empire's betrayal had been jarring. The higher ranked officers from various kingdoms who had worked with Mong Empire did not expect this turn of events. Not to mention, the amount of aid that the Mong Empire had been giving to the various kingdoms had started to plant seeds of doubt in these surviving officer
"Does that mean Ress had known this from the start and decided to isolate themselves to prevent them from being used by Mong Empire? And had it been framed from the start to allow distraction from Mong Empire when they are the real culprit?" One of the Nalg Generals, Sir Dotty, started to feel that this whole operation was a scam.
Even though he lost many of his troops, he was one who had fought at the frontlines against the demons and he hated the demons to the core even more so than Ress.
Yet, this was not the end of the twist for the surviving soldiers who were witnessing this.
Somehow, a person charged forward, breaking the formation lines that Ress Rifle Mages had been enforcing for the longest time ever in this current battle. Even with long vision magic, he was wearing the very same uniform as the other Rifle Mages but it was on his shoulders that held shiny epaulettes that defined him differently from the rest of the Rifle Mages.
It did not a genius to see that he must be one of the higher ranking officers within the army but what struck them most was actually the words that he uttered from his mouth.
"GREATER DISPEL!"
When he did that cast, it was directed towards the Mong Empire soldiers and it did not take long for the Greater Dispel to work on them. Everyone in the field assumed that he was doing it to remove the disguise of humans so that they could see the demon inside these people.
However, they were dead wrong.
The demons' angered faces started to erode and a more 'holy' and yet grotesque appearance emerged from it all. "So I was correct all this while," Jin said to himself as he was also in the frontlines overlooking the formations but when he noticed that Mong Empire were not fully humans, he had been wary.
At the same time, he also felt that the demon aura felt artificial in nature. To Jin, he could not pinpoint the feeling as the aura felt that there was too much 'evil' in it. But for a person who had lived with demons, fought against demons and even risked his life when it comes to demons, he knew that they do not have such an aura on them.
Even the demons who he had fought did not have such 'evil' connotation to its aura. Therefore, Jin felt that there was only one answer to it since only one particular race hated the demons as much the humans in this world.
The Celestials.
Now that he had cast Greater Dispel spell, most of the lower ranked celestials had been exposed and the gig was up. Jin finally understood how the prophecy given by that ancient relic Ress had connected. Honestly, he could not believe that the Celestials would suddenly pop out of nowhere to kill off this entire world and possibly the universe around it as well.
Of course, he did not forget Half Ghoul Lord Derek's experience where his world had been wiped clean from his universe's existence and halfheartedly believed the letter's wording.
However, now that there was actually evidence that the Celestials were manipulating behind the scenes by using the demons as an excuse, the King of Ress could confidently say that the demons were just the buffer or bait that the Celestials had prepared to remove this world.
Perhaps, the reasoning was subjugation of demons? Who knows? Jin did not care much at the moment but ever since he had been played by the Celestials, all he know was that there was a need to return the favour thrice fold. That was the least amount of courtesy he had been taught when he fought against such enemies.
Surely, he had been winning battles but it felt always felt that there was a greater force at play which made him feel that he was losing the war.
"The change in target priority had been confirmed. Eliminate all Mong Empire soldiers in this battlefield and we will proceed to send a preliminary wake up call to their citizens." Jin said and the Rifle Mages accepted the new orders with vigor.
