Chapter 105
C105 – The Outcome of Being a Slut
Fann Jian hastily answered the call, immediately adopting an obsequious tone.
“Hello, Miss!”
A cold, imperious, and undeniable female voice came through the line.
“Fann Jian, your actions have tarnished the reputation of Heavenly-Mansion Tavern. You’re also under suspicion of bribery and embezzlement. The board has decided to terminate your position as the General Manager of the first district.
You should be behind bars, but the company has taken into account your past contributions and has opted for a private settlement.
Reimburse the misappropriated funds, and we won’t pursue legal action.
I expect prompt action on your part.”
With that, the line went dead.
She had hung up.
Fann Jian stood there, stunned, his complexion ashen.
“This can’t be happening!”
Just then, Xia Qin’s phone rang. She glanced at Fann Jian, answered the call, and switched to speakerphone.
“Hello, my dear Miss, I can’t thank you enough for today.”
The same female voice from before came through again, but this time it was softer, even melodious.
“My dear Qin’er, I’ve taken care of him for you. After doing you such a big favor today, how will you repay me?”
“Perhaps with your hand in marriage? I certainly wouldn’t object!”
Xia Qin, hearing this, covertly eyed Jiang Hao and Jiang’s mother, noticing their peculiar stares.
Jiang Hao observed Xia Qin, pondering.
“Clearly, Xia Qin’s relationship with the Heavenly-Mansion Tavern’s young mistress is more than mere acquaintance.”
Embarrassed and annoyed, Xia Qin regretted using the speakerphone.
“Xue Zixi, enough! There are people around!”
She stole glances at Jiang Hao and the others as she snapped back.
Meanwhile, Jiang Hao appeared to be in a state of serene detachment, as if oblivious to the conversation entirely.
At that moment, the voice on the other end of the line underwent a dramatic transformation, reverting to that imperious, commanding tone of a queen that brooked no opposition.
“Xia Qin, I’ve been told that someone has been disparaging my Heavenly-Mansion Tavern as mediocre?
Just hold on, I’ll be right there. I’m curious to see who has the audacity to make such outrageous claims!”
Upon hearing this, Xia Qin felt a twinge of embarrassment and stole a furtive glance at Jiang Hao.
Yet, she noticed that Jiang Hao seemed unfazed by the comment.
Quickly, Xia Qin interjected to prevent any escalation.
“My dear lady, with your busy schedule, there’s no need for you to come here!
It was merely an offhand comment from my brother. Please, be generous and let it slide!”
……
Xia Qin’s persistent efforts eventually paid off, and the Queen on the other end relented, deciding not to make the trip.
After hanging up the phone, Xia Qin finally allowed herself a deep breath of relief.
Meanwhile, Fann Jian, who had overheard the entire conversation between Xia Qin and Xue Zixi, was stricken with despair.
He rushed to open the door and bolted into the Jiang Family restaurant.
Thud!
Fann Jian collapsed to his knees before Xia Qin, overwhelmed with tears and snot.
“Miss Xia, I’m begging you to intercede with the Eldest Miss on my behalf. I swear I won’t make the same mistake again, never again!”
Xia Qin observed Fann Jian, her gaze calculating.
“You’re pleading with the wrong person. You should be asking Mr. Jiang for forgiveness. I can only offer my assistance once you’ve received his pardon.”
Xia Qin saw an opportunity in this situation to incur a debt of gratitude from Jiang Hao, which she hoped to leverage in securing closer ties for her daughter’s anorexia treatment.
Upon hearing her words, Fann Jian instantly raised his head to look at Jiang Hao and, without a moment’s hesitation, knelt before him, his voice laced with tears.
“Mr. Jiang, Grandpa Jiang, I have elders to care for and children to feed. My entire family depends on me. Please, just let me off the hook!”
