Chapter 118
C118 – Jiang Hao’s Choice
If Jiang Hao ever voiced that thought, he’d likely be mobbed!
Facing Xue Zixi’s hopeful eyes, Jiang Hao mulled it over. He could sense her earnestness.
The reward she offered was something he could easily create with a few synthesized pieces of rare jade using his system.
Yet, he had resolved to hold back until he had established a solid foundation for himself. Having too much too soon would paint a target on his back for those with hidden agendas. He wasn’t afraid of the attention, but he did dread the hassle.
Besides, accepting the invitation from the Heavenly-Mansion Tavern had its perks.
Jiang Hao fixed his gaze on Xue Zixi and spoke.
“You mentioned it wouldn’t be a trivial matter before you’d call on me. So, what qualifies as a significant issue?
Surely you’re not saying I’d be summoned for every nouveau riche or some family’s young master, right?”
Jiang Hao’s query sparked a surge of excitement in Xue Zixi.
There might be a chance!
She hurriedly responded.
“Of course not, a Grandmaster must not be insulted. Zixi understands this well!”
Then, with a face full of hope and a voice tinged with anxiety, Xue Zixi asked,
“Has Grandmaster Jiang agreed?”
All eyes were on Jiang Hao, awaiting his verdict.
Jiang’s father and Jiang’s mother were keen on Jiang Hao’s acceptance, but they were ready to support whatever decision he made.
Jiang Zixuan, standing to the side, looked at her brother, both familiar and strange, and felt a twinge of inferiority.
She had always been the one others envied and admired, and this was a new sensation for her.
Xia Qin was torn. She wanted Jiang Hao to agree, yet part of her hoped he wouldn’t.
If Jiang Hao said yes, would he still have time to treat Xin Er?
That was her pressing concern.
Jiang Hao’s eyes swept over the crowd, finally resting on Xue Zixi’s delicate features.
“I’m willing to join your Heavenly-Mansion Tavern, but I won’t be disturbed for just any reason. It has to be a matter of importance.
And even then, you’ll need to schedule an appointment well in advance!”
Jiang Hao’s words sent a wave of ecstatic joy through Xue Zixi!
“Please, have no worries, Grandmaster Jiang. We will certainly fulfill this!”
“I’ll get to drafting the contract immediately. Let’s get it signed!”
With those words, Xue Zixi sprang up, eager to get to work on the contract.
Meanwhile, Jiang’s parents were beaming with happiness.
Caught up in the excitement, Jiang’s mother only then noticed the evening had crept upon them and quickly tugged at Xue Zixi’s sleeve.
“Miss Xue, there’s no need to rush. It’s gotten quite late. Let’s handle this tomorrow.”
Hearing this, Xue Zixi glanced at the clock and realized it was indeed past eight. Night had fallen.
She offered Jiang Hao an apologetic look.
Jiang Hao then chimed in.
“Let’s take care of it tomorrow. Once you have it ready, just have someone bring it over.”
Xue Zixi nodded in agreement, her response prompt.
“Absolutely, I’ll make sure to deliver it personally tomorrow!”
Just then, a sweet, childlike voice piped up beside Jiang Hao.
“Brother, don’t you want Xin Er anymore?”
Jiang Hao turned to meet Xin Er’s wide, innocent eyes and offered her a gentle smile.
Xia Qin was watching anxiously until Jiang Hao reassured them.
“Impossible! Xin Er is too adorable. How could I ever not want you?”
Relieved by his words, Xia Qin’s anxiety melted away.
Jiang Zixuan, witnessing Jiang Hao’s affectionate gaze toward Xin Er, couldn’t help feeling a pang of jealousy.
She was his sister, after all!
“Dad, Mom, Sister Xia, Sister Xue, I’ve finished eating. I’m off to do my homework!”
With that, she spun on her heel and retreated to the sanctuary of her bedroom.
