Primitive Man

Chapter 215: Arrival of Dinosaurs

It had been a few days since the incident of war between Garnt's village and Baktou occurred, marked by the strange incident of something resembling a rock being drawn into the sky.

The arrival of a peculiar group on the primitive land, equipped with strange devices, hinted at something extraordinary happening. At this moment, Mia stood on the edge of the cliff, her gaze fixed on the vast expanse of the ocean stretched out before her.

The rhythmic sound of waves crashing against the shore was a familiar melody that always brought her a sense of peace. But today, something felt different.

"Hey, doesn't the ocean look weird to you today?" Mia asked, turning to her friend, Ansel, who stood beside her, another scientist who worked alongside Mia for the government.

Ansel followed Mia's gaze and furrowed his brows. "Yeah, now that you mention it. It looks like it's... I don't know, receded? We have been keeping records about the nature but this is something we need to examine."

Mia nodded, her eyes narrowing as she tried to make sense of what she was seeing. "It's like the water level has dropped significantly. The depth seems... off."

They both peered down at the shoreline, where the waves lapped against the exposed rocks, revealing more of the ocean floor than usual. The dock that was already built by Garnt and his men was being modified, so they didn't want to disturb the jobs of the professional soldiers who worked on these projects.

"It's almost as if the ocean's lost half of its depth," Mia muttered, her voice tinged with concern. "It took us good two days to bring all our equipment into this land from our country, but if things continue like this...we will disappoint our government again and sooner or later, other nations will also get the news about how the accident didn't"

Ansel frowned, scratching his head. "But how is that even possible? Could it be some sort of natural phenomenon? Is this the effect of the meteor showdown that happened?"

Mia shook her head, her mind racing with possibilities. "I don't know... Maybe it is or something else? It sounds crazy, but it could explain why the ocean looks so different."

They fell into a thoughtful silence, watching as the waves continued to ebb and flow, revealing more of the mysterious depths below.

"Whatever it is," Ansel said finally, breaking the silence, "we should probably let someone know about it. This could be important for us."

Ansel rolled his eyes, as he knew what Mia was talking about. "Are you really going to work like a loyal dog to the government after everything they did to you despite the fault lying with that woman called Erika?" He didn't stop there instead he tried to cross the line, which Mia didn't appreciate. "You were even used as a test experiment. Despite being the only person in the original group that survived, you were treated like an object,"

Mia nodded in agreement, but she went ahead and stopped the newbie. "Stop Ansel! do your job and don't think about things that you don't have to. Just keep following the orders and things will go fine for both of us,"

Mia had her gaze still fixed on the ocean until she started to notice the water level suddenly rising specifically in a certain area, as if something was coming out of the sea.

"What is that?" She asked and using her binocular, she quickly looked at the rising level of the water only to see a brown coloured something popping out of the ocean, but it took only a few more seconds for her to shout in fear as she quickly realized what was approaching them.

"Ansel, get ready! We've got company, and it's not friendly," she exclaimed, her voice tinged with fear because she didn't know what could exist in this primitive world, after personally seeing Baktou encountering a giant squid and a shark that was a legend in their original world called Megalodon.

Ansel's eyes widened as he followed Mia's gaze. "By the stars... is that what I think it is?" he gasped, his hands trembling slightly.

Before them, rising from the churning waters, was a massive creature unlike anything they had ever seen before—a towering behemoth with rough, brown scales and razor-sharp teeth gleaming in the sunlight.

A big, scary creature with sharp spikes on its head and lots of sharp teeth looked down at them. Its eyes were really smart and made them feel scared, like it was hunting them.

"It's a... a dinosaur!" Mia whispered in disbelief, her mind struggling to comprehend the surreal sight before her.

But their shock quickly turned to horror as they realized they weren't facing just one dinosaur, but a whole herd of them—majestic Tyrannosaurus rex, their thunderous footsteps shaking the very ground beneath Mia's feet despite them being in the ocean.

"We need to warn the others! Now!" Mia shouted, her voice rising above the din of the approaching beasts.

With adrenaline coursing through her veins, Mia sprinted towards the makeshift camp, her heart pounding with every step. "Sound the alarm! We're under attack!" she yelled, her voice ringing out across the settlement. "We are under attack by a group of dinosaurs. Get ready to intercept!"

The soldiers sprang into action, grabbing their weapons and forming a defensive perimeter around the camp. Bullets were notched into the guns, missiles were raised, and rifles were loaded as they prepared to face the prehistoric onslaught.

"If those primitive people faced this type of threat, they wouldn't even survive a single second. They should be thankful we are here to save them," Ansel muttered with confidence that they would be able to overcome the threat of the primitive world like the modern humans.

As the first of the towering predators reached the shore, bellowing ferociously, Mia and her comrades stood their ground, steeling themselves for the battle ahead. With a roar that echoed across the land, the dinosaurs charged, their primal instincts driving them forward.

"Fire!" Mia cried, her voice cutting through the chaos as the soldiers unleashed a barrage of missiles and bullets at their oncoming foes.

But even as their weapons found their marks, more dinosaurs surged forth from the ocean, their numbers seemingly endless. Mia gritted her teeth, her determination unwavering as she fought alongside her comrades, a glimmer of hope flickering in her heart.

The firepower of the missiles managed to harm the dinosaurs somewhat, showing that they were not the untouchable beings that they always thought dinosaurs were. However, at the same time, slow missiles couldn't keep up with the number of prehistoric giants that came toward them.

And just as things were about to take a worse turn, the big weapons or the 'big boy' of the group came forward with a huge number of missiles loaded onto its apparatus.

"Fire!" The sound of the orders came but they quickly got overwhelmed by the sound of the missiles that kept releasing from the missile launcher.

The ground shook as the heavy artillery unleashed its barrage upon the approaching dinosaurs. Explosions rocked the air, sending debris flying as the missiles found their targets with deadly accuracy.

Mia and Ansel watched in awe as the massive creatures stumbled and fell, their roars drowned out by the cacophony of destruction. But even as they celebrated their small victory, they knew the battle was far from over.

"We can't let up now!" Mia shouted over the chaos, her voice barely audible above the din. "Keep firing! We have to drive them back into the sea or where they came from! This land is not a place for them."

Ansel nodded, his jaw set with determination as he joined his comrades in unleashing a relentless barrage of firepower, but they quickly realized that the direction of the dinosaurs, which were walking, suddenly changed.

"They are not coming here! But-" Mia also commented on what she was witnessing, as she knew this was not the thing she expected to happen.

"They are going in the direction where that man called Garnt and the other girls escaped! It looks like we won't be able to collect primitive people when we go back home," she lamented but at the same time she felt relieved, because when she looked at the remaining ammo they had for their guns, she knew it would be extremely hard for them to deal with every single dinosaur that comes in their direction.

"Let's finish our job of acquiring the power of the meteor and get out of this place. We don't want to disgrace our nation again with traitorous acts like what Professor Erika did, so let's get back to work quickly," Mia quickly gave her order and looked in the direction of the forest once more, where the dinosaur went.

"It's all yours to deal with, Eva. Try to survive if you can because I can't wait to see how you despair when you realize that everything you did until now won't allow you to obtain anything you desire."
