Chapter 86 Lucian's Plan Is Working
*Gulp*
*Guruguru*
Garrett, Hervy, Lane, and even the twins, who were normally stern, swallowed their salivas while their stomachs rumbled at the mention of the new dish.
With Lucian's high standards, there was no way his second creation would be any worse than his Siren's Melody Poached Egg!
With that in mind, after uncontrollably gulping, Garrett looked at James, and asked, "Sir James, do you want to try Owner Lucian's new dish — Sous Vide Filet Mignon?"
James nodded. "It does sound quite delicious. So, why not? After all, I'm quite curious about his cooking ability."
"Then, we'll have six plates of Sous Vide Filet Mignon and six plates of Siren's Melody Poached Egg," Garrett said to his sister with a smile, while inwardly wondering how she and Lucian met.
However, against their expectations, Lily shook her head as she kindly advised, "If you want to order the Sous Vide Filet Mignon, please read the menu first."
After all, the price of the Sous Vide Filet Mignon was not cheap. Although her brother, uncle, Sir James, and Hervy could order the dish, the other three were not wealthy enough to throw money away for food. In fact, she even doubted if Lane, Cody, and Coby had fifty Low-Grade Mana Stones.
However, money was not the only issue. Lucian's dishes all had a Mage Rank requirement. Based on their Mana Signatures only her uncle and Sir James could eat the dish.
[Big Brother Lucian, Lily needs seven menus.] Lily said to Lucian. This time her voice was as melodic as the singing of birds compared to the slightly aged and harsh voice she was using to hide her identity.
Hearing Lily's voice, Lucian walked out of his kitchen and handed her six menus he had retrieved from his Inventory.
[Here.]
"Here are the menus, please carefully take a look before ordering," Lily said as she placed the menus in front of the customers.
After receiving the menu, James opened it and immediately raised his eyebrows in surprise. Although the restaurant's rules were eccentric, to say the least, it was not as though he never dined in a restaurant with weird rules.
However, what truly caught his eye were the two dishes on the menu — the Siren's Melody Poached Egg and Sous Vide Filet Mignon.
'... Five Low-Grade Mana Stones for a plate of Siren's Melody Poached Egg and fifty for a plate of Sous Vide Filet Mignon. Anyone who ordered his dishes would be an idiot.'
Despite thinking that, James looked at the waitress and ordered, "I'll have a serving of the Siren's Melody Poached Egg and a medium-rare Sous Vide Filet Mignon."
The members of Lions Liver eyes widened in surprise after hearing Sir James' order.
"Sir James, the menu says only Mana Vein Tempering Realm Mages can order the dish. I'm afraid... you are too weak to order the dish." Garrett quickly advised Sir James.
"Oh? Haha, don't worry. I might seem weak but I'm not as weak as you might think." James laughed as he released a pressure that could only belong to a Mana Vein Tempering Realm Mage, causing their eyes to widen further.
"S-so you were hiding your Mage Rank this entire time..."
"Of course, a Merchant never shows all his cards." James shrugged with a smile. However, the truth was he had only ascended to Mana Vein Tempering Realm a few hours ago.
"Give me a plate of Sous Vide Filet Mignon cooked to medium rare," Fenwick said after closing the menu. He had already tried Lucian's first creation, now he wanted to try the dish that required putting his customers to sleep. And even if he wanted to try the Siren's Melody Poached Egg again it was impossible because of Lucian's rule of one serving of each dish per day.
Lily nodded in acknowledgment before glancing at the other customers, who were pale-faced with a mischievous smile behind her mask.
"What about you all?" Lily asked despite knowing the answer.
"Give me one serving of Siren's Melody Poached Egg," Hervy gritted his teeth, feeling ill from saying those words. Like Sir James, his pockets were deep; however, he was too weak to order the new dish.
Garrett looked at his sister in pain as he uttered, "I-...I will only order the Siren's Melody Poached Egg."
He was only a Bone Tempering Realm Mage!
"Two servings of-
Siren's Melody Poached Egg."
Compared to the others, the twins faired better at seeing the price of Owner Lucian's new dish. It was not because they were rich and could ignore the price like Sir James. It was merely… They had expected such an outrageous price.
After memorizing their orders, Lily said, "Your six Siren's Melody Poached Egg will be out shortly."
Lily then glanced at her uncle and James before continuing, "As for the two servings of Sous Vide Filet Mignon, that will take approximately two hours and thirty minutes. Will you be waiting two hours here or returning when your dishes are ready?"
"Here is the advance payment, Miss. After I'm done eating the Siren's Melody Poached Egg, I will return later." James gave her fifty Low-Grade Mana Stones. Two hours was a long time, which he would rather spend doing anything than sitting on a chair.
After a quick sweep with her Mana Sense, Lily nodded and placed them in her Spatial Ring because there were too many Mana Stones for her little hands to carry.
"It's exactly fifty Low-Grade Mana Stones. Thank you, sir."
"Here is my payment as well." Fenwick flicked his wrist as a small pile of Low-Grade Mana Stones appeared on the table.
After collecting the fifty Low-Grade Mana Stones from her uncle, Lily headed to the open kitchen and relayed their orders to Lucian. At the same time that she was speaking, she placed the one hundred Low-Grade Mana Stones on a counter. By the time she was even finished speaking, Lucian threw them into his Inventory with a happy smile.
[Good work, Lily. Also, are you hungry?]
[Mm, I want the Siren's Melody Poached Egg.]
Lucian nodded to her and spoke in his mind, [Activate the barrier.]n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
[Okay.] The System replied solemnly.
Suddenly, Runic Symbols materialized out of thin air before weaving into a complex Runic Formation, which blocked the customers' sight and prevented smell and sound from leaving the barrier.
Once the barrier was up, Lucian got to work.
He quickly washed his hands with a Runic Formation inscribed sink, and then dried his hands with a towel.
Because the Sous Vide Filet Mignon took two hours within the sous vide machine to evenly cook, he began its cooking process first.
First, he set the sous vide machine to 130 degrees Fahrenheit.
Since the water bath was large enough to fit five steaks, he did not need a second sous vide machine.
Lucian then sprinkled the seasonings on two beautifully marbled cuts of steaks before placing them in separate bags with the aromatics.
The process was fast and soon, Lucian submerged the vacuum-sealed bags into the two water baths.
At the same time as Lucian's hands entered the water baths, the System infused Celestial Mana into the Mana Water.
[You can now take your hands out of the water baths.] The System said to Lucian after the Mana Water began radiating with multicolored starlight. However, because there were many experts nearby, the System made it so no one could see the shimmering lights.
As the steaks began their slow cooking process, Lucian grabbed a carton of Siren's Melody Eggs from the fridge.
Meanwhile, just after the Runic Formation Barrier had materialized, the customers became disappointed.
Garrett sighed, "What a pity. I was hoping to see Owner Lucian's cooking again."
"Is his cooking actually enjoyable to watch?" James furrowed his brows. In his entire life, this was the first time he heard someone disappointed they could not watch someone cook.
Before Garrett could explain, Lily said with a dreamy expression as she recalled from her memory, "Big Brother Lucian's way of cooking is like a professional dancer at work. The way he handles each ingredient, his precision, and the best part is the fragrant aroma that fills the air."
'And the charming smile that appears on his face once he begins cooking.' Lily blushed as she recalled that detail. 'Lily really wants to see his real appearance with that smile.'
A smile spread across Garrett's face, "Lily is right. It's like watching a show."
"Oh? It seems that I'll have to pay another visit to Thunderfall City soon." James replied with interest.
As they continued to wait for their order, Fenwick brought up a valid topic that he had been curious about for a while.
"Since you all are here, has the Secret Realm not been opened yet?"
"Mm. The Mana Soul Realm Mages have searched every inch of the Moon Grove Forest for a way to open the Secret Realm. However, they came out empty-handed. Even after leveling the entire forest and killing every single Undead Magical Beast they still didn't find a clue."
"Then why are you all still here? If the Secret Realm hasn't opened yet, what's the point of staying?" Fenwick furrowed his brows.
"That's exactly what I've said." Hervy nodded and continued with a perverted grin, "Instead of wasting our time here, it could be used spending time with the ladies at the Pleasure Pavilion."
