Chapter 2362: Tailing



Drik had a Eureka moment in his head.

"That's it. Even if they managed to destroy one of the skeletons at the start, that is all because of Rashma and I am sure it is a coincidence.

It is almost impossible to figure out the reason behind its destruction in such a short time. And they are only taking around forty minutes to one hour to capture a creature before moving on to another. There is no way, they could destroy it that easily.

Maybe they are indeed capturing them all.

That could be the key." Drik said out loud and immediately started listing out the creatures they captured until now.

The fact that he tried to imitate Sam's team and ended up capturing some of the same creatures, didn't seem so bad now.

They are almost at half-way through the list and they can just focus their efforts on the remaining of that list now.

He believed that there might be some way out here.

Of course, he also understood something else.

"Make our scout team stick with Sam's team. Since they were spotted setting up shop at the edge of the dead forest, they will still be there. Use all kinds of trinkets that you have access to. Focus on energy vibrations and fluctuations.

Also the spatial fluctuations.

Sam's concealment might beat ours, however when someone comes out of the concealment formation, they will definitely reveal some fluctuations. That is our key to identifying them.

Tell them to keep an eye out and spot them for now.

I will talk to the necromancers to figure out a tracking method that will give us their location at all times."

Drik passed these orders and left to meet the necromancers. One of the necromancers who specializes in soul necromancy and also some expertise in curses did have a method to achieve this.

"But it will be risky. With Sam's perception he would be able to find it. There is no way we can tag Hari or Rashma. Those guys are too strong."

That is what the necromancer said. Drik thought for a moment and decided to go with the next possible option.

"Just give me the method. I will make it so that we can track Sam's team."

He gave those instructions and went running towards the scout team before they could depart.

"Mark Hari's sidekicks and Crow. They are our targets. Keep an eye on them instead. Use a space node marker and keep it on yourselves. I will send the trinket to attach a tracking scent on the target."

The scout team took their instructions and left.

Meanwhile, Sam and his team set up the formation at the edge of the dead forest. Rashma managed to lure the tree man to the edge of the forest. However, the said creature didn't come out of the forest area and enter the formation.

So, Sam had to improvise a bit.

When Rashma is beating the deadly hell out of that undead creature, Sam came out of the concealment formation and reappeared at a higher altitude. He started throwing formation pillars into various spots at the edge of the forest.

Simply put, he just carved out a piece of that forest and merged it with the formation. *BAM*

Rashma punched the day lights out of that tree man who was about to crash into the ground. However, its trajectory was interrupted by the barrier of the formation and it stuck to the edge.

There are several dead trees stuck in along with it and they seemed to have sensed that their connection to the remaining forest is being severed. They also transformed into tree-men and started attacking left and right.

This is truly a much bigger challenge to the team members. After all, all these creatures are at least at the violet level with at least three of them being at black level. The tree men are much more versatile and they have way more tricks up their sleeve compared to other undead creatures.

They only managed to hold them back for a few minutes before they felt the pressure. Lucky for them, Sam activated the formation's attack mode.

Basically, it sucked the death energy from the surroundings and used Sam as the central core, a nexus of sorts and converted that into fire elemental energy. Not any fire. The golden sun fire of the Golden sun crow bloodline. The golden flames raged.

These golden flames with their overwhelming vitality are way too effective on the undead trees. They burned and squealed like goats that are being slaughtered. Of course, Sam had to focus extra to ensure none of the teammates are attacked by these flames.

And of course the teammates are attacking the tree-men with all their strength.

This took a much longer time than the other creatures. But after a couple of hours, Sam and

his team did manage to deal with these creatures and destroy them. By the time they are done, all they had was a huge of pile of ash.

Sam is finally done with all the creatures on the list. Of course, it is still a fact that there are hundreds of those creatures still out there. A lot of black level creatures at that.

Hari came to Sam and asked.

"So, what are we going to do?"

"For now? You guys can rest and recover for a short while. I need to do something out there. But I can leave the formation here. You can lure the skeletons in here and destroy them bit by bit."

"I still want to ask. Why did you destroy one creature of each kind? Are you analyzing something?"

"No, it is actually key to getting out of here. I will explain it a bit later after all my preparations are done."

With that Sam left concealment formation along with Crow.

They started travelling in a random direction.

"So, why am I following you?"

"I want you to be the bait."

"To the skeletons?"

"Nope, I want you to be the bait for the idiots that are trying to spy on us. I don't know what they are planning, but they will definitely try to find a way to mark you and track you."

"Okay, what should I do?"

"You remember the safe zones I marked for you?"

"Of course."

"Stay in them and move around randomly. They won't attack you. Just make a few rounds here

and there and go back to the concealment formation near dead forest while holding

something in your hands.

They might try to mark you with something. A trinket, or some spell sort of thing. Just let

them do it and lure them to the concealment formation location."

"What will you do, while I do that?"

"I need to do my fair share of luring. I will be back exactly after two hours. Just keep the others

in the loop. If Hari's team gets impatient, tell them to find a low level skeleton nearby and

make them attack it.

Tell them to increase its level until black level as fast as they can.

That has to be done anyway. It won't matter if they do it a bit earlier than I anticipated."

Crow and Sam split up. Drik's scouts marked Crow and started following him. Just like how Sam anticipated, he was marked with one of the spells created by the necromancers. Crow did managet o sense their approach. But he let it be and lure them just like Sam told.

He is back at the concealment formation within half an hour. He lured the scout team back to

that spot.

The scout team sent the news back to their hide out.

One of the formation team members was sent to their spot. That guy tried to study the surroundings to see if he can find a way to break open Sam's concealment formation. If he cannot break it, he tried to at least find a way to peer into it to observe what is happening

inside.

Of course, there is no tangible result even after they tried.

Meanwhile, Sam was on his task on doing what he aimed to do.

Two hours passed and he came back to the formation. The team is beating the daylights out of

one of the skeletons. He let them finish it and stopped them from going after the next.

"Come on Sam. Be fast. We are looking forward to this. This is great combat practice."

One of the team members said.

Sam chuckled and replied.

"Okay, I understand it is exciting, but I want you to know the full plan from here on out. I

understand how this pocket dimension works and I am sure I have a way to get out. And the first step in that we have finished a couple of hours ago.

So, before we go to the next step, I want to explain everything to you guys."
