Chapter 112 - Game Over!
'According to the information, the high priest and the cardinal should be praying in the temple's prayer room.'
As Adam thought he quickly flew past the lake while glancing at the other end where Alfurias and Nova's were fighting.
He kicked opened the evil temple's gate and directly barged into the temple's prayer room.
As soon as he went in, he spotted an old man in a black robe, the robe he wore on wasn't the same as the one the assassins had.
But, it was almost similar.
"Who are you kid?"
The old man spoke, his words were exerting pressure but, it didn't bother Adam a bit.
Hearing his stern voice, two high priests next to him also woke up from their prayer.
"I am the one, who is going to take your life."
[Due to Nova's power your summons is unable to appear in the shrine.]
Adam swirled Abyss angel and pointed it towards the Cardinal.
"Child, it seems...you are lost."
The cardinal spoke and a dozens small portal opened beside him and small ice draggers nudged out the portal.
"I shall help you regain your sanity..."
"But, I will help you die, old bastard."
A fierce battle began inside the shrine.
------
While a fierce battle began inside the shrine, the battle between Nova and Alfuria was going on in full force outside the temple.
Pop, pop, pop!
Alfuria's holy attacks flew over the lake incessantly. The light attacks were endowed with holy power and lighted up the cave's interior before landing on Nova's camp base.
The temple, however, was protected from the flying attacks by a strong barrier created by Nova's energies.
Pop, pop, pop!
They also launched counterattacks. Streams of water flew up as the water jiggled.
On their side, the Alfuria's holy priests cast a barrier.
Crash! Craaaash!
Streams of water collided with the light barrier. The skirmish continued for a time after the lights came back on.
The Alfuria's were the first to alter the course of the war.
Rufard, who was near the camp's centre, strolled right up to the lake's edge.
When he drew his sword, a metal jingle sounded. Then he swung his sword lightly.
Craaaaaash!
His swing didn't have that much power, as it collided with the barrier, the light from his blade created an amazing explosion.
The cave trembled, and the barrier visibly wobbled.
The child of Novas stared at their barrier with anxiety while Alfutira's men gazed on with hopeful hopes. The barrier, however, did not break in the end.
Bam!
Rufard swung his sword a few more times, and the barrier swayed but didn't crack. The Alfuria's were annoyed, while the Novas were relieved.
"This isn't going to put an end to it."
"It appears that they are doing some sort of ritual within the temple to erect the barrier," Eira explained.
"We will spend a lot more energy and resources if we continue to assault in this manner."
As she finishes speaking the lake which was still a few seconds ago started to tremble and huge waves rise from it and rushed towards the Alfuria's.
"Ha, Bless the God Nova, face the wrath of the Nova brother's Lino and Dino."
The two twins high priests finally had finished their spell.
Even though the attack may seem only like a wave its pressure was very huge, if one got attacked by it, their body will explode like a bomb.
"Retreat! There is no time to cast barrier!"
Even if they retreated they will mostly be caught up in the shock wave and most of them will become crippled.
She also knows it.
Eira ordered others to retreat but there she stood and tried to cast a holy barrier, seeing her Rufard become pale.
'Even if it costs me my life, Lady Eria, I will save you.'
Rufard took a step forward and held his blade above his head, offering his body as a shield for Eira as he made his decision.
A massive wooden sphere emerged around the two at the time, shielding them from the attack.
It even repelled a water wave and shielded all of Alfuria's supporters.
As the water receded, many lovely figures with long ears appeared in Alfurias' perspective.
"All wood elves, pay attention!!"
"We, the dryad worshippers, shall complete the mission assigned to us by our Lord!"
"Attack!!"
The other wooden elves exploded in a choral roar when a beautiful and powerful wood elf spoke.
"As you command, OUR QUEEN!!!"
Seeing the reinforcements appearing out of nowhere greatly shattered the hopes of Novas.
Hundreds of wooden planks formed in the lake as the wood elves rushed to the opposite side.
This allowed Alfurias to easily traverse the lake, even though the wood elves were constantly attacking Novas' barrier.
By this time, the barrier had numerous breaches and was on the edge of collapsing.
Rufard and Eira can't help but be thrilled when things work out in their favour.
Both of them sincerely thought of one person and thanked him to their heart's content.
'Thank you, Mr Adam.'
Thump! Thump! Thump!
The sound of footsteps filled the whole cave, and the noise was assuring to their allies but terrifying to their enemies.
The Nova priests assumed their combat positions. But, the wood elves have already broken the barrier and rushed inside their defence line.
All of the Nova followers who were present in the first line of defence were magicians.
A couple of Nova Knights came out of the lakeshore. They took out a magic box and cast some weird chant.
But, before they could finish their combat spell, they had engaged in a fight with Wood-elves.
However, although the Alfurias looked like they were advancing, both Rufard and Eira didn't let their guard down.
-----
Amelia snickered Carolson and jumped into the secret passage, the passage was dark but, "It's fun to slide this one... Hehe..."
"Thump..."
Amelia landed in that was filled with ominous energy, but there was another thing.
Slam!
A priest slammed into the wall beside her as soon as she walked into the next room, but Amelia did not even blink.
She recognised the individual who had turned this chamber into a slaughterhouse.
Hearing the sound of footsteps coming from the hallway, Amelia dashed forward and hid behind the powerful-looking young guy.
"Catch that Rat!!!"
Carlson shouted as he entered the room through the passage.
'There's no way...!'
However, the scene in front of him sends shivers up his spine. The prayer room's door was entirely open.
The cardinal who should have been in charge of the combat outside was dead, and the man who killed him was unharmed.
He had the impression that the entire universe was a lie.
"N-no..."
Carlson's head rolled to the ground, and the headless body burst in blood.
"The game is over!"
