Chapter 1606: Path Home
Chapter 1606: Path Home
The travel to Wream was simple and with little issue. Ning arrived with the third ship and waited until the cities were ready to be entered.
Once it was ready, everyone was sent in and they began settling back into their designated places. Ning began assigning jobs to the officers under him, who quickly went to work.
He worked too, helping people fix what had been broken or rusted while they left this place years ago.
In just a month's time, the city was back on track and people began going back to life as normal. However, Ning knew it wouldn't be normal for too long. It wouldn't be long before everyone figured out the truth.
He arrived inside the room full of relics, invisible and inaudible. There were people gathered here, just a few which included the Major General and another Major. They made their way toward the end of the room where the relic from the last mission had been brought.
They arrived in front of the relic and looked at it.
"What is it?" the Major General asked. "Do any of you recognize this?"
The Major shook his head, and the others weren't as sure either.
"Go look what it is," the Major General said, sending a soldier forward.
The young soldier moved up to the television and began looking around. Ning wanted to go and start the television himself, but to his surprise, the young man managed to locate the switch that turned it on pretty quickly.
The now fixed screen flashed bright, surprising the young man who moved back immediately. "What is that?" the Major General couldn't help but ask. "That glass is glowing."
"How is that possible? A glowing glass?"
"I've never seen such a thing before."
Ning sighed and waited for the movie he had inserted to be played on its own. It started very soon and began talking about Mexol, showing images of a planet that these people could not comprehend.
"What is this?" someone asked. "Moving paintings?"
"What is that blue thing?" someone else asked, pointing to the scenes with oceans.
"Those are trees," The Major asked. "But they are outside. How? Look at the sky, that's the surface. How can trees grow on the surface?"
The people were simply flabbergasted at what they were looking at. They didn't even pay any attention to words that were being spoken on the screen.
A voice-over narration spoke about the situation of the planet in the past, speaking about how it nearly killed everyone and forced the last of humanity to move to another planet.
They showed a picture of Krimanax and the moons which caused the gathered people to gasp in surprise.
Ning smiled and sat as he watched how this group of people reacted to the entire truth of their existence.
The movie was no more than 40 minutes long, requiring just that much time to go through all the history. However, that 40 minutes felt like a long, long time for everyone in the room.
"That... was a planet?" someone asked. "Not a moon?"
"That's what they said. They said they went to the moons and returned. Are they talking about our moons?" someone else asked.
"Have to be," the Major General said. "These things are left behind by our ancestors. This is one of the things he left behind."
"So there is a planet out there?" the Major asked.
"Maybe," The Major General said.
"Do you think it is habitable now? It looked like that in there," he said.
"I do not know," the Major General said. "How old is this thing? How old is this information we are receiving? If everyone went back to the planet, then why is this relic out here?"
"You're right," another one said. "We cannot be certain that the planet still exists. Maybe they brought the catastrophe again and that forced them to run away. That must be how we came to be."
Ning wanted to facepalm himself right then. How could he have missed such a simple thing? This information was supposed to be from the old days, so they wouldn't know that what they saw at the end was brand new.
Ning thought for a bit and decided on doing something else that would help remedy this all.
A few days later, during one of the expeditions where everyone was out on the surface, an object fell from the sky and landed next to a group of working soldiers.
The capsule, a clear relic, was brought back to the city and handed over to the superiors. What was contained within the capsule soon made its way to the Major General.
The Major General was confused when the relic was brought to him and not sent to the room of Relics. However, when he opened the capsule, he understood why.
Inside of the capsule was a letter. The Major General took out the letter and read it. As he read the words, his eyes widened more and more.
'Dear brothers and sisters who live in the Moon. We have overcome the issues in our home. You can return. We noticed you moving to this moon a couple of days back. We have sent it as soon as we can, but it may take some time to reach you. I hope you see this message and decide to return soon. We will patiently wait for you.'
"Someone sent this?" the Major General couldn't help but speak out loud. "Someone has been watching us, from the planet. They know we are here. Were they trying to communicate with us through that relic? Was that not a relic of the past?"
The Major General understood what a major revelation this was. They could go back to their planet, to the place where they originated from. To the place where they could live on the surface of the planet, and not hide away underground in the moon.
This was an incredible discovery and something that would change the trajectory of their path
in the future.
Their path to home.
