Chapter 1617 More Quests
1617 More Quests
Ning bought the healing potion and drank it in the middle of their way back to the tavern as he couldn't stand the increasing pain he felt in his leg.
Drinking the potion, his cut vanished and the pain was no longer there. Ning breathed a sigh of relief. Then, he looked toward Shara and asked the question he should have had a long time ago.
"You have powers?" he asked her.
Shara jumped a little in panic. She had been dreading this question which she had no answer to. She shook her head and said, "I don't know. I… I was just so scared and I wanted him to go away. Before I knew it, I heard something and looked up to see that he was frozen."
Ning thought for a moment. "You never had powers before this, did you?" he asked.
Shara shook her head.
Ning frowned as the possibility of what had likely happened emerged in his mind. Because the old woman had been right next to Shara when she left this world, the energy that was left behind from her went to Shara, giving her a new power. n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Now this did not make sense to Ning considering what he knew about Spirit Detectives, considering only the one who dealt with the Spirit's issue got the power.
However, he also knew that he did not know enough about this world to confidently say that whatever happened should not have happened.
There were so many other professions regarding Spirits such as Overtakers, Spirit Channelers, and Necromancers, that it was possible that Shara had one of such powers.
Saying that she was an oddity would have to wait until he learned some more.
He was a little curious if the System had something to do with their meeting. What if their meeting was not a coincidence, but something that was bound to happen so long as Ning was put at that place at that time to get onto the carriage?
Ning had no proof in that sector as well, so he forgot about it. He hadn't gotten any powers, and that was fine. He didn't need any powers right away. He had three years to spend in this world, helping the Creator with his 'Experiment'.
Ning told Shara what he believed happened and Shara was surprised to hear that her grandmother had given her that power when she left.
"I got this power from grandmother?" she asked, unsure.
"Most likely," Ning said.
"Does… does that mean I'm a Spirit Detective too?" Shara asked.
Ning stopped. He hadn't thought about that. "Oh, you might have awakened now that I think about it," he said. She was only 15, so it was getting closer and closer to the age when a Spirit Detective or any other powers within this world would awaken.
"You must be one," Ning said.
"Should I check that?" she asked.
"Check it? Yeah, I think you sho—"

<You have received a Quest!>
[Quest: Find the Truth
Figure out the profession that Shara has awakened into.
Reward: 20 Points]
Ning was surprised to receive another quest one that he had not even thought he would get. 'So the quests really have nothing to do with the souls,' he thought. 'They just want me to help people.'
He hadn't expected a quest for such simple tasks, but hey, any point was a good point.
'2 more points, huh? I can buy that minor energy potion,' Ning thought happily looking at the quest. Then, he froze.
His eyes widened slightly as he read the quest again. "What? 20!!?" he shouted in surprise.
"What happened?" Shara asked.
Ning shook his head, not trying to show his emotions to her, but she had heard his surprise.
"No, nothing. Don't mind me," Ning said quickly, giving a small smile to stop her from thinking too much. Then he looked back at the quest, completely amazed by the reward.
'Why the 20 points?' he thought. 'Why is this quest so rewarding?'
The more he thought about it, the more he frowned. 'Is her profession not Spirit Detective then?' he thought. Was it one of the other ones?
"Does Whitebridge have a place where you can test your powers?" Ning asked.
"There should be one on the east side," Shara said. "I haven't been to that side in some time, so I'm not sure if they are still there or not."
"The east side…" Ning thought. "That's the side where the nobles live, isn't it?"
"Yes, but that establishment shouldn't be run by nobles. So regular folks like us can enter too," she said. "Are we going there?"
"Tomorrow," Ning replied. "For today… we need to find you a place to stay."
"A place to stay? I already stay in the tavern."
"The tavern is not going to work," Ning said. "Those ruffians we just got away from know you work there, so once they recover, they will be coming for you with greater numbers. Until we can deal with that issue, you are going to have to stay someplace else."
Shara thought for a bit and nodded. "I should go to stay in another tavern then?"
Ning nodded. "I fear that is your only option," he said.

<You have received a quest!>
[Quest: Relocate Shara
Find a place for Shara to stay for the next few days.
Reward: 1 Point]
'Okay, I don't need a quest for every little thing,' Ning said on the inside. 'I'm not such a bad person that I wouldn't help her without the quest.'
Still, he couldn't hate the quest. It was 1 free point after all. And that free point would be exactly what he would need for the potion he wanted to buy.
'Everything worked out well in the end then,' Ning thought, satisfied. Once he got the potion and drank it, he was going to get his own power, which he looked forward to seeing what it was.
"Alright, let's head back to your tavern first, and then we'll go to the other one."
