Chapter 259: Profession
Given the strict restriction to enter the Paradise Plains, both NPCs and players would be dreaming if they could simply enter there.
Every half a year, the Paradise Plains would open the city up for spectators to witness a fierce contest between numerous Professions in their respective fields.
Those who won would gain a ton of benefits, and the top 100 contestants would be granted an entry slot that allowed them to enter.
However, the first event of the Paradise Plains had been missed by most players because they weren't able to get a Profession or the required level to be in the city.
Profession was the term for players who had another specialty aside from their character class.
Herbalists, blacksmiths, engineers, merchants, and runesmiths were some of the most common knowledge Professions.
However, the truth was, there could be a ton more professions. And anyone capable of achieving something in a certain profession was something a guild would value highly.
'I should join this contest as well.' Xu Feng decided, knowing that gaining the entry slot for the Paradise Plains could become a good chip to rope some of the famous Profession players.
He was not a greedy person, but gaining at least 10 players that he knew were going to become a figure that everyone looked up to would be ideal.
While he was planning on doing these, Xu Feng decided to head to the land location that was now his.
As he headed to his destination, Xu Feng could see the construction of the building. It wasn't that tall, only three floors available, but that was enough for now.
Based on his deduction and the speed of these constructor NPCs, they would be done in a few hours.
After all, the building was not constructed by just hands, but through the usage of mana. Additionally, these NPCs might be constructors, but to the current players, they were extremely fearsome opponents.
Any of these NPCs could easily kill a player.
It wouldn't be an exaggeration that if a player disgusted a certain NPC, they might end up getting killed, even if they were inside the city.
Naturally, that was just an extreme case and it rarely happened.
The only time Xu Feng had witnessed such an incident was when a male player was constantly harassing a beautiful NPC woman, only to end up being killed and jailed for the crime of harassing a noblewoman.
Yup, the male player was just very horny and brain-dead, to say the least.
Giving one final glance at the building, Xu Feng promptly turned around and walked toward the Teleportation Platform.
Originally, he planned on inspecting the other land deeds, but that could be put aside. Either way, the system would notify him the moment he could use those lands for business.
Sometime later, Xu Feng arrived at the Teleportation Platform and was about to use his authority to gain usage to get a participation slot for the Paradise Plains competition, only to end up being halted.
One of the guards recognized him almost instantaneously as he hurried over to him and smiled, "Hello, Baron Lin Feng. May I ask if you are here for a participation slot for the Paradise Plains?"
Nodding, Xu Feng had no intention of concealing his motive. After all, this specific teleportation platform was now designated to the Paradise Plains.
Other than that, why else would he be here?
"I see… in that case, Receptionist Jessica had already registered for you." The guard said politely and proceeded to hand him in the participation slot.
Initially, Xu Feng didn't pay much attention, but when his eyes glanced at the profession that he was participating in, he was stunned on the spot.
"B-Blacksmith?" Xu Feng exclaimed in alarm and stared at the guards. He was sure that either the guards gave him the wrong one or Jessica registered incorrectly.
Although he rarely flashed his title to brag, these NPCs could easily see his title, Master Alchemist.
Just this title alone should be enough to tell what kind of Profession he was proficient in such as alchemical or synthesis.
So what does that have anything to do with blacksmithing?
Meanwhile, the guard smiled bitterly and looked helpless on the surface.
"This is what Receptionist Jessica said and if you have any inquiries, you can meet her at the Adventure Association." The guard explained, pushing the matter to Jessica instead. He could also see Xu Feng's Profession, so he was technically more confused than the latter.
"Jessica huh…" Xu Feng muttered the name, wondering if she was trying to toy with him.
"Alright then, I'll meet with her and I shall be back soon." He stored the participation slot and gave one final glance at the guard before leaving.
'Why me?' The guard cried inwardly when he saw the not-so-friendly glance.
As the lowest ranking guard, he was pushed to the front to greet Xu Feng whereas his other colleagues hid from the shadows.
It was truly a very unfair world where the lowest ranking got bullied to death.
While the guard gloomed over his fate, Xu Feng swiftly made his way to the Adventure Association.
The moment he arrived, his eyes glared intensely at Jessica, who quickly swallowed a mouthful of saliva, clearly feeling guilty.
"Haha, it's good to see you again, Baron Lin Feng." Jessica tried to compose herself and greeted him normally.
Alas, Xu Feng would be damned if he believed she was calm.
Without hesitation, he placed the participation slot and pointed at the Profession competition, "What's with this so-called blacksmith competition?"
"Oh, about that," Jessica laughed awkwardly, her eyes avoiding his gaze.
"You see— our Star Falls City only attracts those people because of the transit point, but what if news of a famous blacksmith appeared in the city? Our city is supposedly famous for the ores produced, but we merely failed to find the source. Once we locate the source, our city will experience a new wave of popularity."
Meanwhile, Xu Feng was speechless at her statement.
As confusing as it might sound, the overall goal was to deceive people that Star Falls City had finally found the long-lost ores and they managed to produce a blacksmith capable of sweeping through everyone else.
