Chapter 41: First World: Hurricane Qie Ran
Chapter 41: First World: Hurricane Qie Ran
While some were skimming sipping hot tea another storm was brewing in the Lin house of horrors. Wen Qinxi seemed to have offended an ancestor haunted by beautiful women almost every two days. Where they came from, he had no idea. The first time it happened, he actually thought a poltergeist had taken interest in him constantly feeling an eerie sense of being watched. But when he turned his head to catch the culprit he didn't catch a glimpse of them without even a shadow in sight.
It's only after accidentally rushing into Master Lin's bedroom which he got punished for, did he finally find out it wasn't a fiend but a girl Madam Lin wanted him to meet. Somehow she had managed to convince her husband to engage Lin Jingxie before he went off to the capital. Apparently, she thought girls in the capital were too frivolous and not suited for her dearest son. Why not Lee Jienjie one might ask? It was because someone had convinced Madam Lin that Lin Jingxie didn't like her and their union wouldn't last.
The puppet master in all of this was none other than Lin Mingxu pulling the strings in the background like a pro. He especially picked the type of girls Lin Jingxie would drool over executing operation 'get rid of Qie Ranzhe with Lee Jienjie as a casualty of course. And yes, you guessed it, he was the one who came up with the whole girls in the capital are frivolous brainwashing Mama Lin, all in the name of saving his brother's chrysanthemum.
But like all plans there were flaws and the biggest flaw was Lin Jingxie himself. He clearly liked the girls which was physically evident but never accepted any of them. Lin Mingxu had dug deep into his reserves to get the cream of the crop but to his brother, they weren't creamy enough. To be fair Wen Qinxi was enchanted by the dazzling beauties but wasn't up for marrying an NPC when he had a mission. This would just add to his troubles when he had his hands full with Qie Ranzhe.
'Fuck, if she pulled this shit in real life l would have been a father by now of not just one kid but triplets,' he cursed when the sixth one came to visit. The second flaw in Lin Mingxu's plan was again Lin Jingxie. That's because each night after a blind date, Madam Lin would ask excitedly what Lin Jingxie thought about the girl but he would always give an odd reason like too tall, too pale, too clingy, too chatty etc to the point were the reasons became even more ridiculous like she chews too loud.
Madam Lin lost it each time hearing such ridiculous excuses and chased him around with a slipper. This led to Wen Qinxi running off into the night seeking refuge at the only place he knew with a comfortable bed which was Qie Ranzhe's place. Qie Ranzhe was obviously happy about spending the night with him hence welcomed him with open arms though it wasn't even necessary to welcome him as Qie Ranzhe would come back to his room only to find a cute furball curled up under the quilt serving himself up on a silver platter.
He was too ecstatic enjoying secret cuddles with his crush but couldn't help but worry. At this rate, he feared Lin Jingxie will succumb to pressure and get robbed from him right under his nose. He couldn't let that happen at ant cost. He had sampled the addictive sweet taste of the forbidden fruit, it could only belong to him. He was like a toddler declaring sovereignty on the swing set refusing to share.
The adorable Lin Jingxie that always peeked out of the quilt with dishevelled hair and bloodshot eyes whenever he walked in belonged to him and him alone. He vowed to work hard and be powerful enough to take Lin Jingxie as his wife with no opposition. How can he possibly let him go when the guy took his first kiss? Lin Jingxie had to take responsibility.
This day, Qie Ranzhe had been training in the mountains with the instructor when he overheard Lin Mingxu bragging about some beautiful irresistible goddess who was going to visit them tonight. A glint of anger flashed in his eyes as a fiery beast awakened within seeking an outlet to ease the pressure. His eyes fogged up in anger smashing a tree trunk closet to him that it came crashing down with a loud thud causing Lin Mingxu to cringe in despair. That might as well have been his face if he had been close by.
Qie Ranzhe's hands were trembling his knuckles bleeding but his anger wasn't pacified in the slightest. He turned on his heel and abruptly left hoping to have a chat with Lin Jingxie tonight. Qie Ranzhe felt it necessary now more than ever to intervene and stop these blind dates once and for all. Sure he enjoyed the benefits of having to share a bed with him making the most of the warmth emanating from Lin Jingxie's body but he dreaded the worst-case scenario and that is losing him to a minx.
Qie Ranzhe was so fuming in anger completely unaware of an evil root spreading its vines all over his body nourished by his own resentful energy. He was inching closer to becoming a bloodthirsty crazed maniac and didn't even know it.
Meanwhile, in the GameX game room, a warning was issued with a ding sound that was loud enough for Hei Bao and Xia Bai to hear even as they wore their headsets playing online games with their backs facing the screen. Jolie swiftly turned down the warning trigger volume that when it sounded again it was barely audible. Hei Bao took off his headsets before speaking to Xia Bai, "Dage, did you hear something?"
Xia Bai scowled in displeasure having dropped his HP bar in the game, "Huh?!" bellowed an irritated Xia Bai that Hei Bao had to rub his painful ears. He pointed at his own headsets gesturing for Xia Bai to take them off to which he complied though impatient.
"Did you hear something, it sounded like the warning signal?" asked Hei Bao as they both quieted down to listen but there was no warning sound as the system had gone as far as muting it. Jolie was doing it for one a special reason and that is to push Qie Ranzhe into confessing without giving Wen Qinxi enough time to meddle and they would all live happily ever after with enough cash prize for an interesting companion.
"You just imagining things, stop drinking too much of that shit, it's making you delusional," said Xia Bai pointing at the three empty cans of caffeinated energy drinks before putting back on his headsets.
"Okay," said Hei Bao shrugging his shoulders while carrying on with his game.
